Stairs and steps

Customers: Particularly vulnerable individuals such as children, the elderly and disabled people may have an increased risk of falls and trips on stairs & steps.

Car Park area

Customers: Particularly vulnerable individuals such as children, the elderly and disabled people may have an increased risk of collision with vehicles moving in car park.

Advise group leaders to have their coach drop off & pick up at Front Doors whenever possible - LOW

Leaving building without appropriate supervision.

Vulnerable customers: May be at risk if they leave their group & go outside the building.

Theatre staffs monitor Foyer & door area whenever possible. CCTV monitors Front Door area - LOW

ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS (If the residual risk is high, you must take additional practicable measures to reduce it, or abort.) Group Leaders must ensure that vulnerable individuals do not wait on stairs, but hold them in corridors or foyers until able to take their seats immediately.

Group Leaders must ensure that, if coach is unable to stop at Front Doors, vulnerable individuals are carefully supervised whilst crossing Car Park Group Leaders must ensure that those in their care do not leave the group without appropriate supervision.

ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS (If the residual risk is high, you must take additional practicable measures to reduce it, or abort.) Group Leaders must ensure that vulnerable individuals do not move around theatre without appropriate supervision. Group Leaders please notify staff if any of your group has mobility problems. Group Leaders to ensure that members of their group follow the instructions of Hawth Staff. Group Leaders to conduct their own role call after evacuation and notify a member of staff if they have any concerns.

EXISTING CONTROL MEASURES AND ADEQUACY (List the control measures appropriate to each hazard and consider the level of residual risk; is it high, medium or low ?) Nominated Usher to assist with evacuation during shows. Ushers note whereabouts of mobility & visually impaired customers, so they can be given assistance during evacuation. Ushers and Fire Marshals ensure that their nominated areas are clear before leaving themselves, so any customers unsure what to do will receive personal help. Any problems are reported to Duty Manager so extra assistance can be summoned. Evacuation conducted by ushers at appropriate pace. Step & stair edges marked with higher visibility material. All stairs & steps checked regularly for faults & trip hazards. All exit routes kept clear, checked by DM at start of each shift

Where disability is serious customer will be given instructions on arrival on what to do in case of an evacuation. Group Leaders requested to notify staff on arrival of any special requirements or assistance needed in the case of an emergency.
