Chairperson’s Message by Lori Pippitt

The shift into the Holiday season has started. Christmas décor is filling the aisles at many discount stores, Christmas want lists are being started and airline tickets are being purchased to insure safe and timely travels to be with family. I love this time of the year, but it makes me a little sad to think about how many people have been hit by the economic downturn and may not be looking forward to the months ahead. We have all had to cut back on our purchases and maybe even on our donations. But, I challenge each of you to “give back!” Giving doesn’t have to just be opening up your pocket book. If you can’t afford to give a monetary donation, then think about giving a little of your time/talent to a community project. The HBAL Santa Cops project is November 6th at Northeast High School. This is a great activity that can be enjoyed by all. Don’t forget the Dolls vs. Trucks toy drive and the shelters are always in need of toiletry items and warm winter coats and clothes. I hope you will take time to join us for our November Remodelers meeting at Destinations Coffee House, located in the North Bottoms. Join us to see how this building has evolved over the years from a mule barn, a mechanics garage and a storage building into the comfortable coffee house it is today! Also, make sure you mark your calendars for this year’s Remodeler’s “South of the Border” Holiday Party at Las Margaritas at 27th & Jamie Lane on December 1.
