As I step into the role of the 75th president of the Home Builders Association of Lincoln, I am humbled by the responsibility this milestone represents. The number 75 carries significant meaning—not just as a measure of time, but as a testament to the resilience, strength and dedication that defines this organization.
For decades, the Home Builders Association of Lincoln has been a key part of our community and our industry. It started small but has grown into something special, thanks to the hard work of our members, our leadership and our staff. Together, we’ve built homes, strengthened our industry and made a lasting impact on our community. Reaching 75 years is a great reminder of what we’ve achieved. The number 75 also reminds us of growth and progress. It’s a chance to honor what’s been done while thinking about what’s next. Together, we can build on the strong ‘concrete’ foundation of those who came before us and keep moving forward. This is our time to make sure the association stays strong for years to come.

This is why I want to focus on teamwork, innovation and building a stronger future for everyone. Whether it’s through new ideas or working together on tough issues, I’m committed to helping our members succeed.
I am honored to serve as your president during this significant year, and I am eager to work alongside each of you to continue the important work of the Home Builders Association of Lincoln. Together, let us celebrate this milestone and embrace the opportunities ahead, ensuring that the next 75 years are marked by even greater achievements.
Thank you for your trust and support, and here’s to a bright future for our association and our community.

of the Remodelers Council of Lincoln February 2025 • Vol. 28, No. 2
The Remodelers Council’s “Builders & Burritos” at The Career Academy (TCA) was well received by both members and TCA staff and students. We are already planning for next year’s event, which will be expanded to include students in all construction pathways.
Matt Firestone Remodelers Council Chairperson
As I’m writing this, the Home Show is just days away. 29 of our Remodelers Council members have booths at the Show. If you aren’t exhibiting, I encourage you to use the VIP ticket that was mailed to all HBAL members and stop by the Show Friday afternoon. Making connections is important in our industry and this would be a great time to visit with fellow members and learn about the products and services they offer.
You may have noticed there was no signup to volunteer at the Food Bank House at the Home Show this year. After 20+ years and countless woodscrews, it was time to retire the House. Although you won’t see the wheelbarrows rolling back and forth at the Show, our support will continue, as HBAL will be donating 10% of ticket sales to the Food Bank of Lincoln this year. We have collected over 93,000 pounds of food since the Food Bank House was started in 2003. If you ever helped with putting up the House or taking it down, or if you volunteered to haul

"Builders & Burritos" at The Career Academy
January 24, 2025
The Remodelers Council treated TCA students to breakfast burritos for their January meeting. The students asked some good questions and it was a great opportunity to share about the scholarships our Foundation awards and the Construction Career Day coming up in April. We plan to host this event annually going forward and will expand it to include their morning, mid- and afternoon sessions.
