Every year, HBAL honors the young people who have excelled in programs we sponsor, such as our Interior Design and CAD Residential Design Contest. We also award scholarships to high school seniors who are continuing their education in a construction-related field. HBAL takes very seriously its dedication to youth and to housing and we feel we have some outstanding programs which foster an interest in and love for homebuilding.

The Power of Leadership and Growth
As the 75th president of the Home Builders Association of Lincoln, I am honored to lead an organization that values leadership and growth. Our industry thrives when we invest in these qualities, fostering collaboration and innovation.
Leadership isn’t just about managing projects, it’s about setting an example, inspiring others and strengthening our industry. Whether you’re a builder, supplier, or industry partner, your role helps shape the future of home construction in our community. By supporting one another and sharing knowledge, we can elevate our profession together.
Personal growth is equally important. Great leaders embrace challenges, pursue improvement and remain open to new ideas. Growth doesn’t happen by chance, it requires effort and a mindset of progress. I urge each of you to set new goals, step outside your comfort zone and strive for excellence.

Remodelers Council Chairperson
It feels like spring is finally here, which means there is a flurry of activity for HBAL and the Remodelers Council.
The Remodelers Council had a great turnout for last month's tour of Lincoln's newest fire station. With the unique challenges of balancing the need for function, public service and living accommodations, we heard how Lincoln Fire & Rescue, the City of Lincoln and the design team collaborated to design a facility to serve Lincoln better while also considering the health and wellbeing of our first responders. It was intriguing to learn how much the needs of the fire service and first responders have changed since the original Station 8 was built in 1958.
Be sure to mark your calendars for two other important events this month. Construction Career Days on April 23 will help get the next generation excited about career opportunities in our industry. The following weekend is the Tour of Remodeled Homes on April 26 & 27. Be sure to get out and support your fellow Remodelers Council members showcasing their work.
Cheers, Matt
