Kitchen & First Floor Remodel Creative Design Solutions for your Home With new owners, this lake house needed a makeover. Located on Capitol Beach, this house is great for entertaining and family gatherings. The existing house was very dark and heavy feeling and did not showcase the great view of the lake.

The wall between the kitchen and unused sitting area was removed, opening the kitchen space to a wonderful view of the lake and creating space for a large working island. Carpet and tile were replaced with 12” x 24” Luxury Vinyl tile on the main level which created a continuous flow and provided a waterproof surface for coming in off the lake. Adding a wall to disguise the refrigerator and double ovens created the perfect location for a bar area on the other side with liftup metal and glass doors and decorative art. Kitchen Remodel This beautiful 1920’s Country Club home needed a kitchen remodel.

Although the original kitchen had been remodeled in the past, it still seemed to lack the unique charm of a 1920’s home, as well as functional storage space, counter space and plenty of other basic necessities. The homeowners’ main priority was to open up the space as much as possible and to add square footage to the kitchen without requiring an addition to the house. The first step to gaining any square footage was to remove the narrow and non-functional back staircase (common in most homes of this age), which provided the space desired. After contemplating multiple design options, the homeowners chose the final design that best suited both their current and future needs for a busy family of four. They are very pleased with their new kitchen, and we could not be more excited to show it off to all of you!

Kitchen & First Floor Remodel This Spanish-style twostory started with a small and dated kitchen with a compartmentalized floor plan. The owners wanted to have an open, entertaining kitchen that could fit all of their friends and family. The layout had a formal dining off the entry, with a powder bath sandwiched between the kitchen and dining room.

We began the remodel with a 20’ x 11’ addition on the back of the home with a full basement Before After underneath for storage.

The addition holds an informal dining space with a custom-built mud area and the relocated powder bath. We vaulted the ceiling in the addition to allow for a clear opening between the main staircase and the addition to give the open concept additional sightlines. The rest of the space was completely opened for an amazing updated kitchen with Spanish-inspired wood beams and a beautiful cement tile backsplash over the range. The entire main floor was taken down to framing for new wiring and lighting, updated spray foam insulation and drywall. The millwork in the home was either original or custom cut to match the original woodwork with floors refinished and toothed in to keep the home as original as possible. It is a transformation you will have to see to believe!

Kitchen & Dining Remodel This beautiful home started with a dated and compact kitchen that the owners were looking to have enlarged for their large family and friends to enjoy. We started by fully opening up walls and ceiling and reworking the HVAC, electrical, and plumbing of the area to remove the soffited ceiling and old knob and tube wiring. After removing an additional staircase that was behind the old kitchen, the area was opened up and expanded for the owners to enjoy a large, entertaining kitchen with new cabinetry, beautiful lighting, walk-in pantry, quartz countertops and a large island with a built-in informal dining area attached to it. Kitchen Remodel

Design & Project Coordinators: Megan Dreyer & Megan Zuerlein We invite you into this lovely 1923-built home that boasts character, charm and history. The CS team was asked to give the kitchen a Cape Cod-style update, and one that would address design flaws that had been only partially improved in years prior. The kitchen was designed with white and blue hues in mind, and with the goal to create a space that would accommodate the homeowner’s love of cooking with her five daughters. There were both functional and structural challenges in the space, and so both needed to be addressed. The kitchen had previously been only slightly opened up with the addition of a passthrough to what was once a porch area, but this did not yet use the space to its maximum potential. We installed a new structural beam so the dividing wall could be entirely removed, which allowed us to add a peninsula and an island, increasing both seating and prep space areas. A stub wall posed yet another design challenge, as it held plumbing that could not be moved. We condensed it as much as possible and wove it into the layout of the kitchen in a less distracting way. We were able to open up the space and, we believe, give the homeowner just what she had hoped for in her beautiful kitchen remodel.

Points of Interest: • The homeowner prioritized a few small design details, such as a drop zone, wine storage and a desire for multiple areas that would allow a number of people to work in the kitchen at the same time. We added a 12” deep cabinet on the end of the peninsula that is purposed as the drop zone and also houses an outlet that can serve as a hidden charging station for phones or other devices.

• We designed a multifunctional built-in wine rack for display and wine storage. A great way to incorporate both function and aesthetics in design!

• A furniture-style island was incorporated as an additional work space, and the countertop overhang from the peninsula allows for seating, cooking and conversation.

• The custom cabinets are by WW Woods - Shiloh in two different wood species and finishes. The perimeter cabinetry is maple with Polar paint in an inset plywood construction. The island cabinetry is poplar with a harbor stain.

• The countertop is a MSI Quartz in Carrara Grigio with an eased edge. The sink, a request by the homeowner, is the Kohler Whitehaven under-mount apron-front sink with the Bellera pull-down faucet in stainless finish.

• Layers of lighting were considered, including under cabinet, interior puck lights and Cape Cod-style pendants.

Kitchen Remodel

Design & Project Coordinator: Megan Dreyer The CS design team worked closely with local designer, Deb Arends of Arends Interiors, to transform this 1960-built home. The kitchen was one of several rooms remodeled, and because it was the original space, it was necessary to reconfigure and consider both the floor plan and the structural details of the area. The homeowners were relocating here from sunny California, and so a more mid-century, Californian vibe was accomplished through much natural lighting and a contemporary design plan.

The formerly small, closed-off rooms did not provide adequate living space for a growing family and prevented the lovely amount of light that became possible with a new design. There was a focus on adding and enlarging windows and on increasing the connection between living spaces that would therefore maximize the space for this sweet family of four.

Points of Interest: • The large kitchen window, paired with the side-byside refrigerator freezer, did not allow much wall 4708 Prescott Ave. | 402-488-6616 space for upper cabinetry. However, with some creative design of the island and lower cabinets, storage capacity and function were maximized.

Dish drawers, an extra deep storage and appliance center (housing the microwave and toaster), pull-out spice cabinet and an interior wine rack, all became elements incorporated into this nontraditional cabinet layout.

• Custom tip-up cabinetry above the side-by-side refrigerator freezer was installed for additional storage along with a creative pantry storage area.

• Custom cabinets by WW Woods - Eclipse Frameless Cabinetry in both a poplar wood with carbon stain and a thermally-fused laminate in White Zebrine were chosen to complement and contrast.

• The waterfall edge honed granite island countertop creates a fluid aesthetic that perfectly showcases the heart of the kitchen and frames what is a highly functional area for storage, seating and double trash/recycling bins.

Whole House Remodel & Addition This stately 1920’s Country Club Tudor was ready for a 21st Century renovation. Exterior Makeover The owners of this home received major hail damage to their roof and some siding from the May 9, 2016 storm that passed through the southern part of Lincoln.

In January of 2017, we replaced their roof with GAF shingles and replaced gutters and downspouts with new.

The house started to look so nice that the owners decided to replace the home’s existing hardboard lap siding with LP Prefinished Diamond Kote, 50-year warranty siding. We also cladded the existing painted soffits and fascia boards with white aluminum cladding. We re-stained their existing Covered Deck (which we built a few years ago) and the hot tub fence with Cabot deck stain tinted to match the color of the new siding. We repainted the garage door, too.

The owners have a potting shed in their backyard and we replaced the shingles and siding to match the house as well. We also replaced three ground-level basement windows.

Kitchen Remodel Creative Design Solutions for your Home These on-the-go homeowners wanted a functional space with the feel of Colorado where they could come home after a long day and relax.

The existing kitchen was closed off and was overall a very cramped space. By removing two walls that existed to house the refrigerator and a pantry, we opened up the kitchen to eliminate the “elephant in the room.” A long peninsula separating the kitchen from the living/dining areas was removed allowing for a new stove location with decorative tile and vented hood. The island features casual seating and shallow depth cabinets on the back for keys and other small items. Kitchen Remodel This house was an entire kitchen remodel project. We began with a kitchen that had a lot of years under its belt. The homeowners realized the efficiency of the petite, closed-in kitchen was not meeting the needs of their growing family. It originally had a peninsula with upper cabinets forming a U-shape and completely separating the kitchen space from the rest of the home. We came in and removed the existing kitchen. The customers chose beautiful stainless appliances, stone finish cabinetry and a light countertop to pop against the darker cabinets for their new cooking space. We got rid of the peninsula altogether and it opened up the area and made such a difference for the flow of the physical space and in the homeowners’ lives. Bathroom Remodel This project was a complete master bathroom remodel. It included a full demo of the previously existing bathroom and installation and customization of a new floor plan. We removed the old, outdated corner tub and replaced it with a custom corner double shower. The old layout changed to make the bathroom more functional and practical. We updated the master walk-in closet as well and provided the homeowners a separate water closet to provide exceptional privacy in this gorgeous bathroom. The light cabinetry and bright pops of countertop and tile throughout really opened this space up to allow the area to feel much larger than it previously felt. First Floor Renovation This beautiful home, nestled inside Country Meadows - a gorgeous neighborhood that’s one of Lincoln’s best kept secrets - had been in need of an update for some time now. The owners had just purchased the home before we got started on the design. The plan was to take down many of the interior walls and open up the space as much as possible. The whole first floor was renovated. The kitchen received a complete redesign with two islands and a large copper range hood. The dining area was moved to a new location, a large pantry was created in part of the space acquired from the old dining room, a large enclosed deck was transformed into interior space and a new composite deck was built on the back of the house. This retired couple spends a good portion of their time in the kitchen and dinette areas. The existing space was dark and cramped and the refrigerator stuck out into the walkway between the kitchen and dinette areas causing a bottle neck.

We removed the wall between the kitchen and dinette to make one large usable space. Soffits were removed to allow for more storage.

An old closet was used to recess the refrigerator giving it more of a built-in look and allowed for new pantry storage. A desk area was added to fulfill the owners’ wish to use the space for different tasks while spending time together during their day!   Custom Wood Products Cabinets in Paint Grade wood with Garden Gate Green paint color.   Corian Solid surface countertops in Burled Beach color with built-in sink.   New Fiber flooring in tile look updated the space.   Added open cubbies in upper part of cabinets for display area for the owners’ Unique art.
