President’s Message

Lori Wellman, HBAL President

Spring has arrived and with it comes three important things to put on your to do list.

First, please mark your calendar to VOTE in the primary election on April 4. Members of HOMEPAC met and interviewed the three Mayoral candidates and individuals running for City Council seats. HOMEPAC is our political action committee which works to support local candidates who share our concerns about the importance of housing in our community and to limit increased regulation which impacts our industry. Through these interviews, the HOMEPAC members identified which candidates it would endorse or offer support (see page 6). We ask you to please consider supporting these candidates in the upcoming election, but above all please take the time to VOTE.

Second, help us support the young people who are interested in our industry at the Tribute to Youth meeting on April 4 at the Country Club of Lincoln. We will recognize our scholarship recipients and the winners of this year’s Interior & Residential CAD Design contest.

Dan Klein, Sr.

Finally, please consider supporting your fellow members by spreading the word and attending the Tour of Remodeled Homes April 29-30. Also, we are still looking for a few more volunteers for the Cruisin’ for the Trades Car Show coming up on May 6. It’s our active membership and support of each other which keeps HBAL strong.

Spring is here and it is the kick off of remodeling season! Soon we will all be working on both indoor and outdoor remodeling projects.

It was our privilege in March to have Perry Haralson from Cornhusker Bank speak about how banking and remodeling can work hand in hand and what the effect is on our business. It was a great learning opportunity for the Remodelers Council. With new workload coming in, I would like to talk about customer expectations at our Remodelers Roundtable on April 5. Meeting customer expectations is crucial in the success of our business. What are some of the items you do to manage those expectations?

Some of the things we do here at LL Countertops is 1) know the client and 2) make sure we are doing selections that will work for their project. Once selections are made, set up a plan that has all the small details covered. "The devil is in the details." We then go over the final plan with the customer prior to fabrication of materials. Once a project is complete, do you review it with your client? Do you ask for other leads? Google reviews?

The Tour of Remodeled Homes is April 29-30. Support your fellow Remodelers Council members by attending this great event.

they are written and some of the changes the Board would like consideration to change. Jereme Montgomery will put together notes and proposed changes. Board members will be requested to review and share with their concrete contractors ahead of the meeting with the City to discuss potential changes.
