President’s Message Mike May HBAL President Does a Friday night BBQ, competitive game of foosball followed by a live band bring back memories? Well it does sound like a lot of fun! I recommend you reserve your team’s spot in the Window Option Specialists/Andersen Windows Human Foosball Challenge before the tournament is full. If you are not up for playing, come and cheer on your favorite team! After dinner, listen to the Spare Change Band, challenge a team to more Human Foosball, watch your kids play in the bounce house or simply relax and visit with friends. It’s going to be a great night and I look forward to seeing you there! Membership in an association such as HBAL means something different to each member. September 17th is a very important date for membership recruitment. This will be a day designated for membership recruitment and include food, drinks, prizes and fun with fellow members. Let one of the team captains or the HBAL office know if you want to be a part of the fun. The time commitment is small, but the impact, networking and fun will be huge! Have a Safe, Productive & Profitable Summer!

Member News In Sympathy
Our sympathy to the family of Heidi Hull, Stewart Title Co., on the death of her grandmother, Madelon Y. Stanczyk, who passed away on June 10. Our sympathy to the friends and family of Brian Elias, Lincoln Concrete Specialists, who passed away on June 20.
Let www.HBAL.org work for you! HBAL’s website is full of useful information for not only our members, but our members’ customers as well. Here are a couple ways www.HBAL.org can work for you.
Find A Home | Find A Lot
The Home Builders Association of Lincoln offers its members the opportunity to list new or refurbished homes or lots they have for sale on www.HBAL.org. Each property will be listed online for 60 days or until we are notified the property has sold. All listings are subject to the final approval of HBAL. Only listings built or owned by HBAL members in good standing are eligible.
Bulletin Board
Do you have employment opportunities you’d like to advertise? Are you looking to get rid of a cabinet that was misordered? HBAL will soon be adding an online bulletin board to its website where members can post job opportunities, items for sale, etc. For more information about either opportunity, email info@hbal.org or call 402-423-4225.

NEW HOME CLOSING RULES
On October 1, 2015 the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau’s new rules requiring easier-to-use mortgage disclosure forms go into effect. (This was pushed back from August 1.) The changes resulting from these new rules – and the penalties associated with failure to comply – are substantial. For example, did you know: • The HUD-1 form is going away? • The flexibility to accommodate last-minute change orders that result in changes to the loan amount, closing costs and/or sales price will become very limited?
Earlier this year marked the twoyear anniversary of Building & Safety’s implementation of Acella Citizen Access. This class will benefit those who have questions about the Acella software and how it’s used.
Tuesday, July 28 8:00 - 9:00 a.m. HBAL Office 6100 S. 58th Street, Ste. C
• Under the new rules, certain closing documents MUST be in the Borrower’s hands 3 business days before closing? And if it needs to be mailed, plan on 3 additional business days for delivery. (A “business day” is defined as all calendar days excluding Sundays and federal holidays.)
Cost: Free for HBAL Members

Generations in the Workplace. Why Can’t We All Get Along? There is a lot of name calling going on in the workplace. You can hear remarks like “Old Farts!” and “Slackers!” whispered under the breaths many employees. For the first time in history, there are four generations in the workplace…and we don’t always see eye to eye. Every generation develops its own set of rules, values and perspectives. This presentation will outline those characteristics to help understand each generation. We can improve workplace communication, morale and productivity if we embrace the generational differences and capitalize on the strengths of each age group.

It’s your electricity. Own it.
It pays to build more energy-efficient homes. Just let us know where to send the check.
The LES Sustainable Energy Program provides homebuilders significant incentives for installing high-efficiency heating and cooling equipment — up to $900 per ton on air conditioners, air source and ground source heat pumps. Whether you keep the incentives or pass them on to clients, you’ll help save energy, reduce environmental impact and delay the need to build expensive power plants. Help keep Lincoln’s electric rates among the lowest in the nation. Visit les.com/SEP or call 402.473.3275 for complete details.
