President’s Message
Herb Reese, HBAL President I cannot believe I am writing my message for the July edition. Where did the time go? Wasn’t it just April a couple weeks ago? I think the gradual changes to normalcy in our community have helped the time fly by. I am beginning to get back to my normal routine and I am feeling hopeful we will be able to move ahead with the events we have planned in the next couple of months. Mark your calendar for the YBP Hard Hat Happy Hour on July 16, the HBAL Family Fun Night on August 7 and Remodelers Golf on August 28. These events will be a chance to build community among friends and family you may not have seen since the pandemic began. We have received positive feedback on the Spring Parade of Homes. We are thankful we were able to have the homes open for the public to tour and the virtual tours were an added bonus! With postponing the Spring Parade, it will make for a quick turnaround for the Fall Parade. Watch your mailbox for entry and ad contracts which are due July 24. Although we are busy making plans for many of our events, we did make the difficult decision to cancel the 2020 Tour of Remodeled Homes. I would like to thank Matt Kinning, Erin Magnussen, Denny Van Horn, Mike Rezac, Shawn Stranathan, Tom Brinkman and Tom Hardesty who worked to update the 2018 International Energy Code (IEC). They spent many hours this spring meeting to go over new requirements in the code and worked with the Building & Safety Department, the Mayor’s office and City Council to add five amendments to our local code. Their hard work and dedication is greatly appreciated. The task force updated energy codes put in place in 2009 and new energy codes being applied will decrease the cost of building which will benefit all of us. Thank you again for the time you spent to help our HBAL community. I look forward to seeing you all at the upcoming events we have scheduled. Until then I hope everyone stays positive and healthy!

5815 S. 58th Street, Ste. D First off, I would like to say thank you and farewell to Kristin Sims. We have enjoyed having you lead us through the first part of 2020. Kristin, best wishes to you and Josh as you relocate to Arizona and best of luck with your future endeavors. I will be stepping back in as President for the rest of 2020. These times have been extremely tough and I pray you Kelli Fleek and your families have been safe YBP President and healthy. As we continue to look into 2020, our schedule has been diminished with regards to COVID-19. However, we have started to resume a few of our events. On June 23 we presented a check for $900 to the Lighthouse from our Light the Way 5K sponsors (see picture below). Even though the 5K was canceled, our generous sponsors were willing to send those funds directly to this great cause. Looking into July we have our first Hard Hat Happy Hour. Thank you to Build DCB for hosting this event on July 16 from 5 to 7 pm. Get out and socialize with our members. This will be a great time to see everyone’s faces again! Chairperson’s Message by Heidi Polacek
I hope you are all as busy as I am! Remodeling has really taken off in this crazy time. People have been at home staring at their ugly or unfinished home projects and have decided to take action! As things start to open back up and we all get into our “new normal,” the Remodelors Council is getting back to a “new normal” as well. We had our annual picnic, socially distanced of course :), at Antelope Park on June 10. It was nice to socialize with others in our industry and be outside in the sun!
MANY POSSIBILITIES. ONE MARVIN. Marvin and Integrity products are now organized into three collections under one Marvin brand. Easier navigation makes selecting what you need for any project simple and efficient. More complementary colors and styles across lines help bring your vision to life. It’s the same beautiful, high-quality window and door portfolio, reorganized to help you create anything you can imagine.
