Bo Jones, HBAL President Spring Parade of Homes 2018 is in the books!!! Thank you to all who participated. Hopefully the traffic was steady and you received some good leads. HBAL is currently involved in many issues facing our industry such as the corrugated cardboard ban, Citizens Transportation Coalition, Governor’s radon gas task force, potential for a land bank bill in the 2019 Legislature and adoption of the 2018 IRC and IBC building codes. As always, HBAL is committed to keeping housing affordable and we react to any additional taxes and regulations which increase the cost of building new homes. We have a great group of individuals who volunteer their time to participate in group discussions, meet with elected officials, interview candidates seeking elected positions and stay current on these issues. If you have any questions about what is happening or would like to participate please contact Michaela at 402-423-4225. If you, or anyone you know has been contacted by the City for using the public drop off sites to recycle your corrugated cardboard please let the HBAL office know. We are working with the City to find a solution for contractors and businesses to easily recycle their corrugated cardboard. May 15 was the 2019 primary election. HOMEPAC, HBAL’s political action committee will be meeting in the upcoming months to interview candidates who advanced to the general election in November. Once interviews are complete, HOMEPAC will select those we want to support. If you are interested in participating, send your contribution to HOMEPAC today! There are some fun events coming up so be sure to put them on your calendar: - HBAL Golf Tournament on June 1 at the Highlands Golf Course - Light the Way 5K on June 23 at Holmes Lake - Hog Roast on August 10 at the Kleinschmit Farm I hope your summer is off to a great start!

Lorna Lane & Dan Walker Lincoln Federal Savings Bank

HBAL Mailbox Dear HBAL, On behalf of the Board of Commissioners and staff of the Lincoln Housing Authority, please accept this letter as an expression of our sincere gratitude for the recent donation to the Northeast High School Student-Build House Program. We humbly accept this generous contribution from the Home Builders Association of Lincoln ("HBAL") and the Lincoln Home Builders Care Foundation ("LHBCF"). Your support not only helps underwrite the cost of the garage but more importantly, enables us to keep the price of the home affordable to a low-tomoderate income family in need. The check presentation has significant positive impacts. It provides students with a personal experience of community good - a local organization believing and taking action to support their work and the mission of the program. In addition, it encourages and promotes the construction industry as a rewarding career choice.

Lorna & Dan were married on April 28, 2018.

Words fall short in conveying how appreciative we are of the support. We value the relationship with the HBAL and the LHBCF. It is with great joy and enthusiasm to have both as partners.

Nope.

YBP Mailbox Dear Friends of the Food Bank, Thanks so much for your gift of $80 to the Food Bank of Lincoln's Child Hunger Programs in March. This school year we are serving over 5,000 families a month in our BackPack Program, our School Markets, the LPS Emergency Pantry and our Teen Mom Voucher Program. We partner with over 80 schools to make this happen. I can’t believe it’s already June! YBP has a lot of fun social events coming up this summer! Thank you to Lincoln Glass for hosting a Hard Hat Happy Hour in Hayley Lane May. If you have not attended an H4 this is a great opportunity to network YBP President and meet your fellow YBP’ers as well as donating to support a great cause: the BackPack Program. Our second annual Light the Way 5K is coming up on June 23 at Holmes Lake Park. A huge thank you to all of our generous sponsors. All proceeds directly benefit the Lincoln Lighthouse so let’s make this a successful event. Be sure to register! You can register online or by contacting the HBAL office. August 10 is our Bean Bag Toss Tournament at the Hog Roast event. Spots are limited so don’t miss the opportunity to sign up for your chance to win a cash prize and the traveling trophy! Your gift to the Food Bank's Child Hunger efforts helps parents who are facing obstacles and working hard to make ends meet. We are trying to make sure kids are ready for school when they arrive. The work you are supporting is both hard and gratifying. We could not serve all these kids and families without your ongoing support. Research reveals there are over 19,500 kids under 18 who are struggling with food insecurity issues in our 16 county service area. We have plenty of work to do together here in 2018. Thanks so much. Best regards, Scott Young Food Bank of Lincoln Alynn Sampson Child Hunger Programs Director

Goal-Based Networking

Goal-Based Networking by Jeff Beals

Networking has never been more important, yet most professionals don’t do a great job of it. The successful professionals are the ones who cut through all the noise in today’s frenzied world and find ways to build trusting relationships with clients, colleagues and persons of influence. Now is the time to get out and meet new people! This session will introduce you to “goal-based networking,” a technique that sharply focuses your communication efforts. You will learn what to say, when to say it and to whom you should say it. You will learn how to synthesize social media with traditional networking. Once you master goal-based networking, your colleagues will be left wondering just how you became so well connected both locally and within your profession.
