President’s Message

October 2021 Vol. 58, No. 10

President’s Message Matt Kinning, HBAL President

Fall is finally here and so is the Fall Parade of Homes. The Parade starts October 3 and runs through October 10. 6100 S. 58th Street, Suite C Lincoln, NE 68516 (402) 423-4225 www.hbal.org • info@hbal.org The Lincoln Business Builder is published 12 times per year by the Home Builders Association of Lincoln. The Lincoln Business Builder is sent to all members of the HBAL. The Home Builders Association does not accept responsibility for or endorse any statements or claims made by advertisers or authors of any articles.

Executive Committee Matt Kinning, President Ward Fred Hoppe, President Elect

HBAL hosted a Lunch and Learn with Rural Water District 1 on September 22. This meeting was well attended by our members. Jordon with Rural Water District 1 provided information about the moratorium on water taps in the district and the reason for the moratorium. Summer months are the months with the greatest water usage in the district... think sprinklers! As builders, we need to take part of the responsibility to educate our customers on proper water usage. Once sod is established in two weeks, be sure to show your client how to reset their sprinklers to run less often. Lawns which are stressed grow deeper roots to find water and need water less often. On October 6, HBAL members will have the opportunity to learn more about the 2050 Comprehensive Plan update with a presentation from David Cary, LincolnLancaster County Planning Director. At 4:30 p.m. David Cary will have a brief presentation followed by the opportunity to have your questions answered. Click here to find out more information about the Plan. If you are interested in future growth in Lincoln and how your business may be affected, I urge you to attend.

women and children who have benefited from safe shelter and services at Friendship Home over the past decade, we extend our deepest gratitude for continuing your tradition of sponsorship of our Safe Quarters! Nineteen years ago, three remarkable women with a passion for our mission created an amazing event. They wanted to raise money, heighten awareness of the issue of domestic violence and allow our business community to demonstrate their support and leadership. Leaving a violent relationship can be complicated as well as dangerous. Without the support of the community and businesses like yours, we would struggle to provide victims with the kind of resources they desperately need and deserve. Friendship Home is proud and honored by your sponsorship. Your generosity and commitment help create a safer community for everyone. Sincerely, Sande Dirks & Angie Hilsabeck
