Stay for an hour or stay all day!
I hope this note finds you enjoying the nice, cool weather we’ve been having lately...wishful thinking! Actually as a summertime gal, I admit I enjoy the heat of summer and all it brings. I hope you all get a chance to get outside, sweat a little and enjoy something about the beauty of this season!
Need an excuse to get out of the heat? Stop by the HBAL Office on July 20 as we celebrate what makes our Association so great...YOU!!
Our June meeting was a casual picnic at Antelope Park. For those of us that spend much of our time in an office, the chance to get outside and visit with a fellow member over some fried chicken was a welcome experience. A topic that was brought up among a few of us was the need for more qualified subs. Additionally, I recently read an article alluding to the fact that remodeling nationally continues in an upswing despite labor shortages. While I feel we are hanging on for now, I am scared of the future as many of our skilled laborers age and retire. I would encourage you in the coming months to look for ways to encourage new talent in our field. Get involved with the LPS Career Academy, allow a youth to shadow you for a day/week, find a captive audience to speak to or tour a project of yours. As the push towards technology moves forward, we must be advocates to the youth around us, as to the artistry of working with your hands.
Snacks and refreshments will be provided! Please RSVP to info@hbal.org.

Speaking of encouraging our youth, don’t forget to sign up and join us August 26 at Holmes Lake Golf Course for the Remodelers Golf Tournament! This event benefits the Lincoln Home Builders Care Foundation, which helps contribute scholarships to youth pursuing a career in the building industry. Whether you are an avid golfer or haven’t played in 10 years like me, we welcome you!
