Chairperson’s Message by AnDee Harris

Greetings! Thanks to our members who attended the May 7 meeting where we toured a renovation project at 1421 P Street. A big thanks to Bo Jones, Steve Powell and Tru-Built Construction for allowing us the opportunity to tour this building project. It will be a great addition to the downtown area. The next event will be our annual picnic at Earl Carter Lumber on June 11, 2014. Lunch will be catered by Hy-Vee. We look forward to seeing you there and enjoying the summer lunch!

May Remodelers Council Meeting

Tour of 1421 P Street

Bo Jones and Steve Powell of Tru-Built Construction give a brief history of the 1421 P Street building prior to bringing the group inside. The building had been used for a variety of things including office and retail space, community-style apartments (with shared bathrooms!) and a brothel.

The area behind the building will be converted into a private courtyard to be used by the tenants.

One lucky new tenant will get this great conversation piece. The safe will be a permanant fixture in the apartment.
