Chairperson’s Message by Pam Magner

Spring has to be my favorite time of year. People start emerging from their homes like bears from their winter hibernation. While we didn’t have a harsh winter, it is always nice to see the temperatures rise, the flowers bloom and people spending time outdoors! Spring also seems to bring out everyone who has been waiting for winter to be over before starting a project. A very busy spring that flows right into summer is my wish for us all. Last month we had three students from SCC-Milford speak to us about the Building Construction Technology Program. With the labor shortages in our industry, this program is invaluable to us. We learned that the number of graduates is far less than the number of available positions. If you want to differentiate your company, getting involved on the campus is a great way to start. The Tour of Remodeled Homes has 19 entries this year. The Tour has always been my favorite event because it’s an opportunity to showcase your actual work. I hope it will be successful and worthwhile for all of our entrants. I’d also like to thank all of the volunteers who helped with the transportation of old and new signs. Our next meeting will be at the HBAL office where we will hear a presentation about the software package Buildertrend. It assists building professionals with the pre-sale process, project management, financial tools and customer management. Come join us for lunch and a presentation on the number one software for builders and remodelers.

May Meeting

Presentation by Buildertrend is cloud-based construction management software for builders, remodelers and specialty contractors. The software combines project scheduling, project management, customer management and service management in a single suite. And as a cloud-based system, that means the system can be accessed anywhere and anytime with a computer or mobile device. Buildertrend provides pre-sale tools such as a built-in CRM system, quick bids, estimates and proposals. Project management tools include scheduling, to-dos, daily logs, document and photo management, and time sheets. Customer management tools include change order and selection management, a customer dashboard, warranty requests and online payment processing. The system also integrates with other valuable solutions, such as QuickBooks, Xero and numerous take-off software programs. Buildertrend effectively ties every part of a project into one central location and eliminates the need for multiple systems.
