Chairperson’s Message by Shawn Stranathan

The leaves are changing, the days are getting shorter and fall is officially here. I can’t say this is my favorite season change because I’m never quite ready for summer to end. However, eventually I’ll get on board with fall once I start to feel some holiday spirit. Plus, we can’t get back to spring until we get through fall and winter. Thanks again to everyone who attended and helped make the annual golf tournament a success in August. This year we raised over $3,600 for the Lincoln Home Builders Care Foundation. The Foundation’s mission is to support the educational and charitable activities of the Homes Builders Association of Lincoln. It supports the community by contributing to community service projects focused on housing, providing scholarships for students pursuing a career related to the building industry and providing funding for other industry related educational programs. I would also like to thank everyone who made it to our very informative September meeting where VirtuActive 3D Design & Drafting showed us how 3D technology can be used to help our customers realize their dream designs. Don’t forget about our Remodelers Council Membership Drive which runs through November 11. Our membership is currently at its lowest in 22 years and we need your help to bring in new members to this outstanding group of people. Flyers with membership information and benefits are available at the HBAL office. Share this information with at least one of your business contacts and invite them to join us at our next meeting. Also, look at the list of Remodelers Council Members on pages 65-67 in your HBAL directory and find someone you haven’t seen at a meeting in a while. Personally invite them to join you at our next meeting. Our next meeting will be held on October 2 at Vahallen. Please join us and be sure to bring a guest!
