Chairperson’s Message by Rick Willet
If you are like me, you are always searching out ways for improving your business. Most of us when we start out are too prideful to seek good sound advice from others. So we go through learning by using the “School of Hard Knocks” or “Trial and Error.” Those can be very costly in the long run. When I look at my 23 years of being in business, I see I have adjusted a lot in how I manage our business, and we have changed so much over those years. Yes, some of those changes were the result of trial and error. But most of the positive changes have been due to receiving advice from others through networking. I hear a lot of HBAL members say the reason they joined is for the networking. Some are just looking for means to sell their services, but others sincerely want to share ideas with others. I really appreciate other members in our Remodelers Council who truly care and strive to help by giving advice and friendship to each other. My company would not be what it is today without the help and advice of other remodelers sharing with me what works for them. I highly recommend you invite someone in our industry out to lunch and just share ideas. You may be amazed at how open we can be with each other when we see others have the same love for our industry as we do. I hope I can be of service to some of you. I plan on inviting one or more of you to lunch this month to get to know you better and help you any way I can. I challenge each of you to do the same. Thanks to all of you who have made an impact on my life. (Oh and by the way, I love barbeque.) Upcoming events: • Wednesday, September 5 - Remodelers Council lunch at Billy’s Restaurant and tour of the Kennard House • Thursday, September 13 - FREE Membership Lunch at HBAL office; recruit a new member that day and be entered to win your next year’s membership dues PAID!
