Garage Addition The owners of this residence were in need of more garage space to secure their additional vehicles and other items. They had driveway space between their existing single-stall and double-stall garages. We extended the existing double-stall portion of the garage out to the front facade of the single-stall garage – staying Jeff Bielenberg, Owner within the residence’s required setbacks. The footings were sized to minimize settling relative to the post settling of the existing home. We were able to match the new vinyl window with the existing window. Enough brick veneer was able to be saved to mix in with the new to achieve a very close match to the existing exterior brick veneer. The new roof overlay was framed to fit the existing, so there are no visible roof lines or shingle color variances. The interior is finished with drywall, insulation and additional lighting. The owners wanted their new garage to blend in with the existing home, to not look like an addition, and to give their home curb appeal and value. Kitchen Remodel This home is the perfect example of a home with great bones but in need of a face lift starting with the layout. The home was built with spacious rooms and quality materials. Unfortunately, the kitchen was completely separated from the living room and the dining room, not to mention the fabulous view out the wall of windows. The homeowners requested the kitchen be opened up into the large living area creating a great room. We also created a first-floor laundry room as well as a rear-entry area from the garage. In order to open the space up, several walls and a powder room would have to be removed. However, some items were on the must keep list. Those included the walnut paneling, the stone fireplace and hearth, and the original integrity of the home.

The home had a 50’s modern vibe that was to be the basis of the future design. Planned, thoughtful storage solutions would allow for the space to have a minimalist appearance without sacrificing the realistic requirements of a kitchen. The new layout focused on a large island for prep work and entertaining, and an uncluttered range wall with no upper cabinets.

Once the walls were removed, the kitchen gained a window from the powder room creating an asymmetrical window wall which fit perfectly with the modern aesthetic. However, removing the walls would create a design challenge which wouldn’t be easily solved. The kitchen wing had a lower ceiling than the living room and dining room wing and raising the ceiling would have blown the budget. Basement Remodel The homeowners of this charming Country Club classic wanted to transform their basement into the perfect space for hosting and entertaining guests. The original basement setup lacked functionality, and simply wasn’t living up to its true potential. To bring the homeowners’ vision to life, we optimized the space by re-configuring the large utility/laundry room to add a fourth bedroom with egress window and walk-in closet. Every spring in April, the Remodelers Council of Lincoln organizes the Tour of Remodeled Homes. This tour consists of 15 to 20 remodeled homes open for public viewing. If you’re thinking of remodeling or adding a new room or sunroom to your home, you’ll enjoy this weekend event! During the Tour of Remodeled Homes, you can walk through remodeling projects of many types (kitchens, bathrooms, basements, room additions and more). This is a great opportunity to talk with remodelers about your own special dream for your home remodeling project.

Remodelers Council Golf Tournament Every August, the Remodelers Council holds their Scholarship Golf Tournament. Proceeds from this event go to the Lincoln Home Builders Care Foundation which awards scholarships to area students studying construction-related degrees.

Monthly Meetings The Remodelers Council monthly meetings include guest speakers covering topics of interest to members or tours of remodeled businesses in Lincoln.

Hats, Mittens & Gloves for LPS In 2010, the Remodelers Council began collecting hats, mittens and gloves for local elementary schools to give to students who don’t have cold weather gear. These items are collected at the annual Remodelers Christmas Party and are an easy way to give back to the community.

Food Bank House The Remodelers Council 17th Annual Helping Hands Food Bank House was a great success at the 2019 Nebraska Builders Home & Garden Show! We collected 3,556 pounds of food thanks to the generosity of the Home Show visitors. Since 2003, we have collected over 78,000 lbs. of food for the Food Bank!
