FINE ART FOR INVESTMENT AND PLEASURE
HORIZONS
Based in the tranquil Hinterland town of Kenilworth, Lasting Impressions Gallery has over almost 3 decades established a reputation as one of the region’s leading fine art gallery. For many visitors to the Hinterland Lasting Impressions has become a ‘must see’ destination.
Noted Gympie-based artist Ken Gailer who has delighted art collectors for the last 30 years with his paintings, is showing his most recent work at the gallery from 16 – 30 October in an exhibition aptly titled ‘Horizons’.
Focussing on paintings from a stable of renowned and award-winning artists it also offers select glass and ceramic art including by internationally acclaimed glass artist Brian Hirst and equally famous ceramic artists Avital Sheffer and Amanda Shelsher. The gallery’s curatorial policy aims at the genuine art collector as well as catering for clients seeking ‘just the right painting’ for their home. The gallery’s annual exhibition schedule and images of all available paintings can be viewed on its website.

Sunshine Coast Hinterland Gallery Trail 2016
During his intensely rewarding art career Gailer has explored various styles but has recently revisited his favourite motif: The beauty of the Sunshine Coast, it’s beaches, rivers and hinterland. His ‘Fragmented Romantic Landscapes’ combine classical landscape paintings with a contemporary approach to composition where each of the various elements within the work depict a traditional land or seascape all held together by dramatic skies and Gailer’s hallmark colour patterns. Ranging from 30 to 120 cm in size, art lovers will be sure to find the perfect addition to their collection. A number of the exhibition paintings are already on display at the Gallery in Kenilworth but the entire show may be previewed at its website.

ABOUT ANTLERS Deer Antler is not horn, it is bone. It is the only animal that grows bone outside its body! Antler growth on the male deer occurs in the warm spring and summer months. In the early stages of growth the antler is soft and full of blood. The outer layer has a soft coating that looks and feels like velvet. The antler progressively calcifies and the out layer dries and falls away, leaving a calcified antler. As the antler fully calcifies the males testosterone level rises and peaks around the Full Easter Moon. The animal uses his antlers to mark territory and to fight rival males during the mating season. This lasts for 6 weeks, then the males rest over winter. Nature provides new growth in the spring, the old antler falls off and another begins to grow.

Set in the original stables of the old Thynne property, one of the original pioneering families of the Maleny region, the gallery presents a continually changing exhibition of Rick’s current paintings, limited edition prints, and sculptures. Since his first one-man exhibition in 1970, Rick has worked solely as an artist for 46 years, holding numerous exhibitions in Brisbane, Sydney, Melbourne, Newcastle and Canberra, and gaining an ever increasing following along the way. International shows have been held in Los Angeles, Tokyo, and in Italy in Soiana and San Gimignano. His paintings are generally oil and acrylic on board or canvas. His work is imbued with a sense of subtle light and a feeling for the peaceful ambience of particular places. His love of patinas on walls, of reflections, and interesting windows and doors, has persisted as subject material from the beginning of his career, but his subjects also include beaches, hillsides and still life. He has also painted portraits and a large series of paintings of children.

Private Art Gallery/Studio
OPEN By Appointment Only Please call beforehand to avoid disappointment A painting trip to Italy in 1991 brought about a major shift in focus and change in subject matter. Annual trips to Italy, and also visits to Greece and France, fueled his passion for finding different subjects, and he has produced a body of works that capture the very essence of these unique places. In 1999, Rick and his wife Desley purchased a house in a small town in Tuscany, to enable them to get closer to his subject matter and generally immerse themselves in the Italian culture. After living there for 11 years they have now returned to Australia, and settled in Maleny. The connection with Italy is still being maintained, and his recent work is a combination of subjects from both Italy and Australia. All current work can be viewed on his web site: www.rickeveringham.com.au The Gallery does not have fixed opening hours. If you are planning a visit to the Maleny / Montville area, the Everinghams are happy to welcome visitors to view the gallery, but advise that a phone call beforehand is recommended, to ensure they are there. The Gallery will also be open for special exhibitions from time to time. To be advised of these events, Rick invites you to go to the web site and register on his mailing list.

ALICE SPITTLE IS A MAORI CONTEMPORARY ARTIST BASED IN MALENY. Alice finds it hard to define herself as a painter, weaver or mixed media artist but she would consider herself as a Maori contemporary artist, exploring life creatively through as many art forms as she can. Each art form inspires and compliments the others and they allow her to stay motivated and focused on her passion. “As long as I am doing something creative and I am in my studio exploring and playing, I feel free to channel my life’s experiences through my art” Alice studied Maori Design and Art at Te Wananga O Raukawa in Otaki (2002) and started her journey into the expression of art in Christchurch, NZ where she exhibited and sold her works nationally and internationally. In 2011 her and her family moved to Brisbane with their 2 week old daughter. This was after experiencing both major earthquakes and Alice is now settled in her studio and enjoying the Sunshine Coast hinterland.
ONLINE GALLERY ONLY
“This place just reminds me of driving around Akaroa in Aotearoa (New Zealand) minus the snakes, huge spiders and other creepy crawlies, although I am getting used to them now.” Alice has exhibited her work in galleries and events throughout New Zealand and Australia and has spent the last 5 years enjoying motherhood and being creative. She has a deep passion for creating artworks that inspire, challenge or initiate change. Her work is hugely focused around her legacy people and you will often find her work and conversation flow around this topic. She paints in oils and acrylics and works with textures and other various mixed media. All canvases are museum grade and she prides herself on using highest grade and quality paints and materials. “I want my work to have longevity, so it’s important that I use materials that will last for generations.” Visit the online gallery to view works by Alice www.artandwellbeing.com.au
