Movie Season by Heather Bradley

Romantic Comedies of the 90’s The 90’s because, after conducting a questionnair, this seemed to be the decade where all the favourites were made, including Pretty Woman, Notting Hill, While You Were Sleeping, The Wedding Singer and You’ve got Mail. These films were very successful and are still enjoyed today. I would like to promote these films as the best romantic comedies that were ever made.

Examples

Each contain a slight hint of reds/pinks, bringing in the romantic element. Fonts are bold, sans-serif with the odd exception. All very obvious of their genre.

Audience Obviously the Audience will be stictly female. I would like to concentrate on the younger genoration, convincing them that the 90’s was the decade when the best romantic comedies were made, and proving that they still are the best. The age range of around 16-24. Obviously, these films are going to appeal to the older generation too, however, I feel these films are already known as great films to them, and that they don’t need convincing to watch them.

Tone of Voice I would like to concentrate more on the humour side of the genre, and then a slight hint of romance. I don’t want it to be full of sloppy red hearts as it causes it to become slightly silly and childish. Given the audience, it needs to be easy to understand, vibrant, colourful, humourous, playful and have that ‘feel good’ factor to it.

One of his 10 second idents for the Paramount comedy channel. Though childish, it’s fun, vibrant and very simple, which is the style i’d like to go for.

Summary I intend to produce five 10 second TV idents promoting a season of romantic comedies. This season will start on the 1st February, therefore including Valentines day, and will run through until the end of February. My colour pallet will be limited and fonts will be bold and sans serif, keeping to the that of the films. My storyline will be simple, but making sure I communicate the humourous side. Designs will also be simple, and quite possibly hand-crafted. I intend to create the ‘feel good’ factor that romantic comedies create, which will hopefully convince my audience to tune in and watch.
