Concept Year book / Simple and minimal design to allow this graduating year’s work speak for itself.

‘It’s not very often one is lucky enough to work with people who give one hundred percent. It’s been my privelege to have played a part in the education of just such a talented and committed group of individuals. Through hard work and sheer determination, the BA Graphic Design graduates have developed a focussed understanding of graphic design that has produced highly individual and creative work of the highest caliber. I’m proud of them.’

Spreads Rather than having a combination of profile pictures and photos of work on each spread, we have chosen to display all the designer’s profile pictures together at the start of the year book. This then represents the community and network that our year group has become.
Photography This also means that the work is not judged by designers appearance, and has more space to speak for itself.
Profile pictures / The art direction for the profile is open to each designer’s interpretation allowing them to express themselves in a creative and unique way. Profile pictures will be montone.
Grid Product shots / A range of work from each designer will be brought together and laid out on a grey background to be photographed. Thus each designer is a sum of their practice and not just represented by one project. Close up shots will show detail. They grey background is in keeping with the concept.
A versatile grid to allow for a wide variety of image combinations, thus suited to each designers needs. Layout Spec / 6 column grid, 3mm guttering and 8mm margins.

Micro-site The layouts and systems used within the publication can be transferred across to screen. Here we are proposing a microsite for the yearbook that allows visitors to browse through photo’s of the projects by using a lightbox.
Navigation / On reaching the site the viewer has various options to click on. When ‘designers’ is chosen, a drop down menu appears, where a name can be selected. This automatically lights up the designers photo. From here work will be available to browse as well as contact information and links to individual external websites.
