Welcome to the 7th Edition of ArtHamptons Escape and Dive into a Hamptons Art Tradition. We are delighted to again present the East End of Long Island with an expansive yet rigorously selected offering of important contemporary art. Our lineup of 87 top-tier galleries hailing from 12 countries is our most cosmopolitan yet. Each year at ArtHamptons, the East End community comes together to celebrate the Hamptons’ long history as a haven for the creation, exploration and patronage of fine art. This year’s theme of escapism is evident throughout the show floor, events, and programming schedule. From the pastoral landscapes of Jane Freilicher as our “2014 Lifetime Achievement Honoree” to the other worldly theatrical productions of Robert Wilson as “Arts Patron of Year”, the escape from the everyday that art allows will be showcased and trumpeted. Welcome to The Sculpture Fields at Nova’s Ark, a pristine setting of 95 acres featuring a dramatic sculpture park, polo club and unforgettable sunsets. You will be transported to Korea’s thriving art scene with Korea Contemporary @ ArtHamptons featuring 15 leading galleries, interweaved throughout the fair. Immerse yourself and experience art presented by prominent galleries from around the world–representing over 400 respected contemporary artists. Select the finest in paintings, works on paper, photography, prints and sculpture. It was worth the escape from NYC this weekend. The 7th edition is packed with stimulating and inspirational components over the four days to enhance your artistic journey. The Opening Night Preview again benefits Guild Hall. Don’t miss the installation, Jane Freilicher Near the Sea: A 60 Year Retrospective, just to the right of the entrance. The year, on Sunday morning, we are introducing a family oriented event to celebrate the arts - ArtKids @ ArtHamptons, supported by Free Arts NYC. ArtHamptons hosts an unprecedented program of 18 special events this year. Please refer to the following pages for their specific times and locations. I invite you to explore the wonderful contemporary artwork offered by our exhibitors. Go ahead, indulge yourself. There has never been a better selection of international art presented in the Hamptons or better time to invest in art. Experience the satisfaction of hanging a work of art in your home where you can enjoy it daily. Make your visit to ArtHamptons a lasting memory. On behalf of our sponsors and partners, exhibitors and hard working team, I welcome you to the 7th annual ArtHamptons. Sincerely,

2:30-3pm Artist Spotlight: LA ROC Lawrence Fine Art Booth 417
Angel Ortiz (now known as LAII or LA Roc) was 13 years old when he began his fateful collaboration with Keith Haring. Haring, who called him “the graffiti king of the Lower East Side,” had sought out the young Angel after seeing his “tag” throughout NYC. The two collaborated from that point on, and were part of a coterie of artists including Andy Warhol and Jean-Michel Basquiat who were known almost as much for their “downtown” lifestyle as for their art. Represented by Lawrence Fine Art. Ortiz was one of the earliest and best known of an exuberant generation of street artists who would transform how America thought about art and what people consider art today. LA’s work is part of the Weisman Foundation Collection. His work has been featured prominently in an exhibition at the Museum of The City Of New York entitled City as Canvas which continues through August 2014. His work was exhibited in 2012 at an exhibit on Street Art at the Centre Pompidou.
Art Café The food served in the fair’s café will be prepared with fresh local ingredients by the Hamptons first Platinum Chef, Cheffe Colette, owner of the esteemed restaurant, The Inn Spot on the Bay. The Inn Spot on the Bay has been voted Best Caterer in the Hamptons for the last 10 years, and Cheffe Colette is the author of the cookbook, Spot on Cooking.

THE HONOREES
Jane Freilicher 2014 Lifetime Achievement Award Few contemporary artists have as committed a following of collectors as our 2014 Lifetime Achievement Award recipient, Jane Freilicher. After studying painting with Hans Hoffman at Brooklyn College, she completed her Master’s degree at Columbia in the 1940s. Influenced by both French Post-Impressionism and the burgeoning American Abstract Expressionist movement of the 1950s, Freilicher quickly developed a style all her own. She is now best known for tranquil views of flowers before a window, of New York skyscrapers, of Hamptons porches, and of plush, gently rolling gardens and meadows. As the New York Times put it, “Jane Freilicher is... pure joy.”
Robert Wilson 2014 Arts Patron of the Year Award The New York Times described Robert Wilson as “a towering figure in the world of experimental theater and an explorer in the uses of time and space on stage.” Born in Waco, Texas, Wilson is among the world’s foremost theater and visual artists. His works for the stage unconventionally integrate a wide variety of artistic media, including dance, movement, lighting, sculpture, music and text. His productions have earned the acclaim of audiences and critics worldwide. Wilson’s drawings, paintings and sculptures have been widely presented in solo and group showings, and are held in private collections and museums throughout the world. Wilson has been honored with numerous awards including a Pulitzer Prize nomination, two Premio Ubu awards, and the Golden Lion at the Venice Biennale. Wilson is the founder and Artistic Director of The Watermill Center, a laboratory for performing arts in Watermill, New York. ArtHamptons 2014 | 17

After curating multiple pop up exhibitions, which included the Art Healing Ministry by Alexander Melamid and Facets of Figuration at The Metropolitan Museum of Art, the founders of the gallery sought a consistent location for the program. The space was set up to display adventurous projects by an international group of artists working across various media. The artists and projects are connected by strong conceptual and didactic underpinnings to their practices. Alain Blondel, Owner Art galleries have been in existence for almost 200 years, and it is surprising that the world of art and the ways of presenting works have seen so few changes. Reinforced by this observation, the gallery breaks away from its Toulouse location and conveys the idea that technological evolutions eventually change man into a nomadic being. In this very case, 31Galerie relies on its local network and, for practical reasons, focuses on Paris, where it is based today. More precisely short-term exhibitions are set in private spaces, chosen for their unconventional and exceptional architecture. 31Galerie is part of an innovative project which aims to promote contemporary art as a mean of deciphering our “monde en mutation. For both established and emerging artists, the gallery serves as a springboard to international collectors, curators and galleries. Williamson, an American entrepreneur and businessman. The first six years were dedicated to the extensive promotion of young artists through solo-shows, catalogs and summer workshops in Cetate: www.cetateartsdanube.com. The Gallery also focuses on the promotion of established artists, including early 1960s Romanian Abstract Impressionist Romul Nutiu (1932-2012), Romanian-Italian artist Vincentiu Grigorescu (1923-2012), and Romanian-German artist Diet Sayler (b.1939 in Timisoara). The Gallery’s inclination toward abstraction and works in an expanded field is intertwined with the more classical approaches of the figurative. All activities intend to create a solid and reliable gallery profile in the emerging art market of Southeastern Europe. Peter Hastings Falk, Director; Robert M. Berry, Associate Director Rediscovered Masters champions late-career (and deceased) artists who, for various reasons, have not expanded or sustained the exposure they deserve. Rediscovered Masters is a platform that makes artists connectable to museum curators, gallerists, historians, critics, and collectors who might otherwise remain unaware of their works. These artists are nominated and elected by the Art Advisory Board. Board members have been respected in the art world for many years as sensitive to recognizing the highest accomplishments of visual expression. Each member of this team is highly attuned to composition, color, style, and technique. Equally important, each is perceptive when it comes to reading meaning, content, and conceptual intent. Each is passionate about art and balances their aesthetic preferences with their intellectual backgrounds. Carylann Loeppky, Artistic Director; Jennifer Harwood, Client Services; Paul Richard Burgoyne, GM Finance Stamp Gallery was formed by a small group of artists, collectors, and investors from Vancouver, Canada who shared a desire to expand their artistic experience. In early 2012, they opened their gallery at 1875 Powell Street in East Vancouver, with the intention of expanding their horizons onto the international scene. The strategy of exhibiting internationally as an element of growth is a simple one. At first, competing on the world stage is most certainly a rollercoaster of emotions, mostly humbling as the competitive reality sets in; however, being surrounded by a discerning audience, a multitude of artistic influences, mentors, and magnificent works of art can have a positive affect on ones development. Such diverse influences, compounded by the challenges of stiff international competition, generate an environment where constant artistic adaptation becomes the norm. It is this alchemy of absolute uncertainty that inspires and binds our synergy known as Stamp Gallery. Artists Represented: Paul Burgoyne

Villa del Arte remains dedicated to the further development of the Barcelona exhibition space through homegrown projects. Nova, born Mihai Popa (1928-2009), was a sculptor, painter, architect and thinker of indomitable spirit, generosity and vision. Getting to America from his native Romania during the Communist era nearly cost his life. “Several times in life I faced death… Each time I was spared, and each time I gained in courage, understanding and thankfulness. I want to do something phenomenal – to return the incredible gift I received.” ‘Integral Art’ is the return of the gift. The alfresco museum features 60 of Nova’s trademark monumental sculptures, integrated with nature and architecture. In addition, there are galleries with surprising features. “Blue Barn” displays Nova’s playful, sculpted 3-D fluorescent murals. Others contain indoor sculptures, paintings and architectural models. “The Castle Barn” is a rustic yet elegant space available for weddings and special events. The hand-crafted “Elliptical House” will soon become a museum. Collectors and art professionals are welcome to contact us for private tours. Public hours and special events are on the website.

Nova: “My mission is to put as much spirit as I can into matter. I love painting, but I developed a powerful desire to carve in steel because of its elemental, cosmic quality. I love the challenge of taking this raw, resistant, independent and proud material and making it vibrate with human spirit…I want to create sculpture that represents the eternal dreams of humans and explores the sacred relation between man and cosmos…art that leads us to places where we’re reminded of our greatness, places where we perceive again our majesty.” Enjoy the experience. Stroll, breathe deeply, reflect, dream…
