Letters to the Editor: 3340 Robinwood Road STE. 100-517 Gastonia, NC 28054 Attn: Curtis Lawrence www.HeightMag.com clawrence122003@yahoo.com

FROM THE EDITOR Curtis Lawrence Sr., is a native of Gainesville, Florida. Upon graduation from high school he enlisted into the United States Army. He served honorably for 24 years. He toured Germany, Saudi Arabia, and Panama. He retired as one of the top Recruiters in the Raleigh Battalion as On Campus Recruiter for University of North Carolina at Charlotte Army ROTC. Curtis is married to his lovely wife Tonya, a native of Gastonia, North Carolina. Following the birth of his daughter, Curtonia, the realization that he would not be able to share precious memories of her grandmother with her greatly impacted him. In addition to this he realized he only had a few photos of his mother, and the quality wasn’t the best. Thus, his passion to provide quality photos for his family and others was birthed. He has since provided quality images for generations to come. His portfolio contains many celebrities, athletes, chefs, ministers, and authors. Yet, he cherishes photos of his daughter, and sons, Curtis Jr, and Marcus, last but not least his four grandchildren the most. His first booked event was a family member’s wedding, using only a pocket camera The outcome inspired him to pursue and improve his craft. A special thank you to Tracey and Debra for believing in him. Curtis realized he had an eye and natural talent to create beautiful memories. He developed his talent through mentoring and training with professional photographers.

Today, he is a highly sought after photographer. Through the encouragement and support of family and friends, Curtis founded Insight Photography, Gastonia, N.C., where he provides an array of services such as family portraits, weddings, and private and corporate events. Curtis inspires himself to focus and go forth, by reciting his favorite quote “ Faith don’t fail me now.” His firm foundation and faith have allowed him to not only become the founder of Insight Photography, but to become editor and chief of HEIGHT Magazine. Curtis continues to believe in the power of the team, and uplifting his community. He is excited and proud to present this issue, against all odds as it focuses on your total well-being, mind, body, and soul.

COAT OF MANY COLORS by Krystal Carr Sancho

Adversity, Fortitude, Perseverance, and Versatility

T

he phrase ,“Coat of Many Colors”, was adopted from the biblical story of Joseph who was gifted a coat as a signet of his father’s undying affection for his beloved son. To re-energize that concept and bring it into the climate of the day, the “Coat of Many Colors” represents the adversity, the fortitude, the perseverance, and the versatility of the AFRICAN AMERICAN CULTURE. We are all men and every woman wrapped in one body. Colored is what they called us, BLACK is what we choose to be. However, we should not be offended by whatever they call us. Not because they are intimidating to us, but because they are intimidated by us. Let’s analyze the word “colored”; Miriam and Webster primarily define the base word “color” to mean a phenomenon of light or visual perception that enables one to differentiate otherwise identical objects; the suffix “-ed” means to act in the past. Although derived from derogatory beginnings, the word “colored” suggests that from the beginning the “colored” have been a phenomenon, an unexplainable and remarkable beacon of light set apart from otherwise identical beings. BLACK is defined as the presence of ALL color and the presence of all things colored. Our melanin rich skin is harvested from the richly endowed soils of Africa that contain minerals such as copper, gold, diamonds, and platinum. We were born rich and it’s high time that we begin to recognize our value.

In contrast, white is defined as the absence of color; without hue. These references are not meant to spark pretentious issues of race or importance, but to enlighten some and inform others that we are all of equal relevance. If we would truly unite, there are no limits to what we can become. Come, let us paint this literal and figurative picture together… A painter begins a masterpiece with certain tools and supplies. He has an easel, a blank canvas, assorted paintbrushes, and multi-colored paints. If we tske away the color, what then remains? Without color all that is left is a blank slate. A masterpiece is created through the hands of the artist and the union of the paint with the canvas. One lacks luster and brilliance without the other. We are all important to one another and should build seamless relationships on truths to produce masterpieces of harmony, reverence, and adoration. When asked to mentally conceptualize a garment woven in the “fabric of love” that embodies love, peace, and unity, CLAVON LEONARD- fashion designerpassionately describes, “ the structure of man in a suit to represent dignity and integrity; the lapel saturated with the heart of a woman; the sleeves infused with vibrant colors to symbolize the children, an extension of the family; trousers that exemplify strength in uprising.” “The suit in its entirety is the embodiment of the black family; mended together is the structure of the man, the love of the woman, and the excitement of the youth.”

he transition from black stallion to white thoroughbred, as it pertains to the bearded beau, may come with opposing feels. Most black men embrace “going grey” as a mark of sophistication, prudence, prestige, and strength. While others reject it as an unwelcomed sign of waning youth or simply put… ageing. Although the process of ageing is inevitable, there are other known factors that contribute to these “grey areas”. Genetics, health issues, stressors, and vitamin deficiencies are among the few named causes of greying hair. Regardless of the factors or feelings towards this transformation, proper care and maintenance will make a huge impact on the appearance of those fruitfully feathered white whiskers. As we mature, the cells known as melanocytes that live around the hair follicle reduces in melanin production and eventually die causing the hair to appear grey. Caring for the “old grey hair” requires a different approach as the loss of pigmentation ultimately yields rigid, unruly, and wiry strands of hair. These hairs become the most difficult to tame when in the “ombré effect”, grading shades from dark to light, as the hair has reduced in elasticity and strength. The absence of melanin in the cortex can also lead to the formation of a tighter cuticle layer, making grey strands impenetrable with color treatments. The classic man may choose to mask the appearance of the ageing process or “ombré effect” by attempting to color their greys; in contrast, the distinguished gentlemen will mount that white horse, shout “Hi Yo, Silver!, and ride off into the sunset. Here a few play strategies for keeping that wild white horse tamed:

Play Strategies for Maintaining the Sterling Silver Stubble

Healthy body, healthy hair Regular exercise and a diet rich in nutrients, protein, and water will offer the essentials needed for hair growth and vitality. Lifestyle choices such as smoking can give the appearance of a dull yellow tinge to the greying beard.

Wash that grey that’s in your hair Avoid harsh shampoos that tend to dry out the hair. Use a clarifying shampoo to remove mineral buildup, which can cause discoloration or yellowing. Utilize a daily leave in conditioner to increase softness and manageability.

Slide some oil to me Grey hair is usually more dry and can look dull or less vibrant due to loss of pigmentation. Use oils to lock in moisture. Avoid products containing mineral oils as they may weigh down the hair making moisture absorption difficult. Hair and Beard Oil that contains Castor Oil, Vitamin E and other natural oils is recommended to keep hair moisturized, strong, and shiny.

“Shades” of grey As a result of melanin reduction, grey hair is more susceptible to damage from UV rays. Wearing hats or scarves when exposed to the sun at length offers a shade of protection.

Be careful with your grey Grey hairs are prone to increased breakage as they have reduced strength and elasticity. Avoid overmanipulating, over-styling, and overheating that can cause more damage than good.

CHANGING

Lanes with Derickus Crawford

by Devona Keel

Happy New Year!” A phrase chanted ‘round the world announcing the turn of an untrodden era. Year 2020 was destined to be the year of perfected vision, corrective transformations, and opportunistic endeavors. Instead it has been “the year from hell”. The coronavirus pandemic lunged the world into a medical and economic crisis that was nothing short of an anomaly. Many lives and businesses were adversely affected and familiar conditions became foreign circumstances. Many found themselves in situations that forced them to make decisions that pushed beyond the bounds of comfort. They mistakenly over rationalized because so much was invested in their current path that a change of course seemed detrimental. They made overwhelming sacrifices to build businesses and lasting partnerships; however, to go through a downturn and make tough decisions in a crisis is unquestionably difficult. Celebrity Hairstylist and elite business owner, Derickus Crawford, knows the difficulties associated with transition in the middle of trials. He shared how he

overcame experiences when “changing lanes” was necessary. For fifteen years, Crawford’s business was positioned in the same location. Over the years he built an increased number of clientele that ultimately earned him the title “celebrity stylist”- sculpting the hairs of the common and the celebrated alike. Due to the demands of his profession, he learned to manage time. Structure and routine had proven beneficial until normalcy was interrupted. “I had been in the business for so long, I became somewhat complacent”, he states. “When I finally attempted to implement new ideas, nothing seemed to work.” Crawford found himself in a dilemma. He could not wrap his mind around the sudden shift in the order of business. Misplaced and confused, he turned to his faith for answers. The answer that came in that faith search seemed faulty and foolish, yet it was kindly welcomed. “When you choose to walk by faith sometimes you look ridiculous”, he says reverently. He wholeheartedly believed that change was necessary. That strong belief resulted in a decision to sell the furniture in the current salon in preparation for the emergence of a new salon in a new location. Although he received flack from others, he continued to pursue the faith-based resolution and found a new home for his business. Because of the move, he was not able to accommodate the full staff he had been

13

accustomed. This forced Crawford to severe ties with people he had long worked aside, built friendships, and grown to love. Letting go of people you consider friends is hard enough, but having to do it amidst a worldwide crisis is heartbreaking. Derickus Crawford attributes perseverance to his faith in God. He believes that “our blessings are predicated upon our maturity,” and he exercises that maturity every chance he gets. Adverse situations have the ability to bring out the “savage” or the “saint” in a person. In the case of Crawford, he has proven the latter. He is humble, yet confident as he continues to learn from experiences that lead to self- improvement and excellence. “Through this experience, I learned that I could thrive with less material and more sustenance.” ~Derickus Crawford

he relationship with a brother is absolutely amazing. If you have a brother, then you already know how extraordinary it can be. Brothers are there to be role models, close confidants, courageous protectors, bitter rivals and pleasant friends. Regardless of where they fall in the family line, older or younger, having a brother is positively an incredible experience. The Arrington brothers exemplify that brotherly bond within the sports arena. Torrian and Tyler Arrington are both seniors at Shelby High School in Shelby, North Carolina. They are key players on a football team that has averaged 14 wins per season and conquered state titles earning the brothers 3 state championship rings. The Arringtons are multi-athletic young men who exercise their freedom of expression through passion, purpose, and opportunity within sporting activities . When it comes to football Torrian seems to have a closer connection, stating, “I didn’t necessarily choose football, it chose me”. favorite. In addition to football championships, Tyler highlights his engagement in the 2019 basketball state championship as well as his 40 point scoring frenzy in a single game. He works hard and trains even harder. “There aren’t any training activities that I dislike despite the challenge,” says Tyler. “Knowing the purpose is for my growth, I am able to press through each training experience and overcome every obstacle.” Despite his success in football, Torrian is clearly not the dumb jock stereotype. “In this season, my ultimate achievement is to make sure that I am ready to make the next step in my journey,” he says. “I am currently in the process of applying for colleges and visiting campuses to identify the ideal match.” When asked about mental challenges that hinder improvement on and off the field, Torrian intensely states: “My biggest mental challenges are balancing a full plate with academics, sports, and life in general; I’m focusing on myself as a total person and not just an athlete.” The Arrington brothers are trending upward on the high road to success. Their efforts and achievements have not gone unnoticed as they have each acquired ten acceptance letters to various colleges. It is believed that they will remain determined, dedicated, and disciplined to their academics as well as their athletics. As the “footballs” of life are thrown our way, if we HEIGHT MAGAZINE

rofessional athletes embracing fashion is not a modern concept. Sports and fashion have been influentially parallel to one another for decades. Over time, style has consistently presented its relevance within sports allowing otherwise uniformed team members to express their individuality in unique and creative ways. The players entries into arenas and stadiums gives onlookers the feel of a pregame runway, as they showcase their own personal styles donning custom shoes and jewelry, athletic accessories, illustrative tattoos, and trendsetting hairstyles. With the expansion of fashion and heightened exposure through social media, athletes have a colossal platform that propels their opportunities to inspire the masses. Children and adults alike want to emulate the fashion they see their favorite athletes display. Amongst the “inspirationally donned” is Dallas Cowboys star DeMarcus Lawrence. Lawrence, a native of South Carolina, is known for his love of vibrant colors. He usually sports Nike sweats and tees, dreadlocks, and a signature gold chain which is a personal reminder that nothing can hold him back. Lawrence’s personal style is not only trendsetting, but is also an expression of personal growth, self-discovery, wisdom, and affirmation. As time shifts, so does he. He attributes the evolution of his personal style to his lovely wife, Sasha, who has influenced him to indulge in iconic fashion brands such as Gucci and Chanel. Lawrence is humble, remarkably confident, and exceptionally focused on and off the field. On the field, he exhibits an exhaustive level of devotion to perfecting his craft as he prepares for the game day storm surge… “there is truly no calm before the storm on game day because I prepared this”, Lawrence states. Off the field, he is a devoted husband and loving father. His primary goal is to build a legacy for his children, while he simultaneously imparts a lasting imprint on the hearts of those within his community. It is

evident that Lawrence’s reach extends far beyond the confines of a football field. He gives honor to his mentors for their consistent encouragement, stern guidance, and precise instruction. Lawrence took their guidance to heart and it has placed him into a continual cycle of “becoming”. With the uncertainties of the NFL season underway, Lawrence strives to maintain productivity by participating in family ventures, volunteering within the community, and exploring foreign language acquisition. DeMarcus Lawrence is a notable man, with a genuine heart, destined for continued greatness. He recognizes the importance of his influence and uses it to make deposits into the hearts and minds of those that share commonalities. In closing, he imparts to us this impressionable quote … “I believe I can be anything, no dream or goal is too far fetched for me to strive after”.

I believe I can be anything, no dream or goal is too far fetched for me to strive after.”

The Man, The Brand

T

HE DOCTRINE OF DESIGN was stitched into the heart seams of fashion designer, Clavon Leonard, from a young age. Growing up, he watched his father don sharp suits and slick hats as he prepared to step out on faith in the church and out on the town. “My father was a very well-dressed man,” says Leonard. “I acquired my sense of style from him as I wore my first suit at 3 years old and sported my first hat at the age of 5.” It was during interactive times with family that Clavon Leonard realized his creative niche. Trendy trousers and swank shirts were the central theme of birthday and holiday gift exchanges amongst family and friends. Leonard’s extraordinary love of fashion moved him in ways that were inherently unique. “I love to see how fashion transforms people and gives them a sense of pride in their appearance,” he expressed. Earning a Masters Degree in Human Resources and Labor Relations, as an instructor at Rutgers University, Leonard tried his hand at mundane affairs of day-to- day life, only to discover that normalcy was his kryptonite. After the abrupt and crushing end of a significant love affair, he was launched forward by being pushed backward into the cradling arms of his first love, fashion. From there he began the anticipated journey from Rutgers to the Runway. “For my shame, I was given praise and fame,” he says. “All of the pain was worth the rebirth experience of Clavon Leonard.” During this transition time, it had become painfully evident that men’s fashion was waning and becoming more effeminate. “I had to come on the scene”, says Leonard, “I felt the need to

by Krystal Carr Sancho

produce a collection of ensembles that brought back comfortability and style to the daring man”. Leonard aimed to resurrect the sporty iconic visage of the classic Alpha Male with the release of his cutting edge menswear suits. The initial launch of his designer line went off without a hitch. However, adversity presented when he was advised to conceal his identity for the interest of consumer sales promotion. “Nobody will believe a black man could be the face of luxury”, they said. Nonetheless, Leonard did not allow this cretinous statement to cause him to recluse. Instead he was emboldened and replied confidently, “I am luxury and I refuse to veil my identity to pacify an imprudent populace.” Consequently, the buyers conformed and patronized the luxurious designer brand, that is, Clavon Leonard. Since Clavon Leonard, “the man- the brand”, has fitly joined together the black man and luxury, the fashion industry as we know it will never be the same again. Most noted for his designer suits, luxury garments, and high-end leather accessories, Leonard’s designs offer a variety of mix and match styles that appeal to the “fashion conscious consumer”. He continues to expand and perfect his craft with the use of vibrant colors and exotic fabrics in his newly released women’s suits and track suit designs . Although extremely brilliant and immensely creative, Leonard is far removed from conceit. He is a devoted mentor to his “Incubation” design group in Africa and maintains close relationship with his family as the love that he has for them is the heart and soul of his brand… These are the “ties” that bind cultural and moral experiences, woven ever so delicately into the fabric of love.

Seriously Single?! or Nah?!

Bohang Moeko

With his suave semblance and tantalizing timbre, BOHANG MOEKO captures the attention of viewers as he finesses his way into cinema. by Krystal Carr Sancho

W

hat do you want to be when you grow up? The question of the day directed to a group of rambunctious 2nd grade students. A young Bohang Moeko stood proudly on the seat of his chair and declared, “When I grow up I want to be an actor!” At that time, he was entirely unaware the announcement made that day would echo through the canyon and recoil an amplified resonance that would burst through the window of opportunities. Even though acting was his initial career choice, it was not something that he actively pursued. Whether the delay was due to lack of dramatics exposure or parental pressures, Bohang deferred his dream and furthered his reality. Years of schooling afforded him a degree that landed him a job he despised. “I hated every seriously single second working in that office,” he says. “I would make unnecessary trips to the bathroom multiple times just to pass through the day.” During one of his many lavatory sabbaticals, he crossed the path of an acting coach who invited him to attend a class. Feeling like there was nothing to lose, Bohang graciously accepted and from that point on the levers of his mind had shifted into another gear. “Something within me came alive,” he says. “Something that I cannot explain or describe.”

Expressing an overstimulation from this new-found exuberance, Bohang could no longer focus on his day to day job. He had an important decision to make. Will he follow his dream or will he continue in the humdrum of corporate life? The decision was made, he decided that working 9 to 5 was not a way he wanted to make a living. Take this job and shove it was the tune of the day when Bohang walked out of the office and onto the set. Audition after audition happened while Bohang crossed off the many failed attempts. 100 plus auditions later, he had yet to land a role. What the hell? Not a seriously single call back. He decided to abandon the account of losses and continued with the auditions, it was then that perseverance prevailed and he counted his first win. The rest is history in the making. While on the set of his first role, an African “Soapie” called Zabalazah, Bohang was determined to absorb the business. Having very little training, he committed to asking questions, watching other actors, and learning from his mistakes. “I wanted to soak in valuable information and apply what I learned”, he says. “I am willing to try my hand at everything to be challenged and to grow.” Bohang has since had stints in Hot Zone, playing Dr. Musoke; in Karatas, the celebrity guest; and

Kabelo, in Housekeeper. More recently he featured in the 2020 Netflix Film, Seriously Single as Lunga. Seriously Single is a South African romance comedy about an ambitious young woman who livestreams what she thought to be a romantic love gesture from her boyfriend turned public embarrassment. After weeks of sulking and stalking, she meets Lunga in the most unconventional way only to later learn that he is about to be married… and the plot thickens. Seriously Single, as Bohang’s first comedic role. He notes the difficulties in “finding the funny” as he was often drawn back to the dramatics from previous experiences. Mr. Moeko continues the pursuit of passion in his acting career. “It doesn’t feel like a job”, he says. “I have so much fun on set that I have to say to myself, are they really paying me to do this?” His favorite character thus far is one who is attached to “Issonna” a show on BET AFRICA that was set to release September 28, 2020. He states that the character he plays is complex and conflicted; consequently, this role has proven to be the most difficult at this time causing him to

stretch and grow as an actor. “I will not allow limits to be set for me,” he says. “I don’t want to be labeled as an actor who only plays a certain type of character.” With this in mind, Bohang respects acting as a craft and consistently trains to improve upon his skill. He parallels the intensity of practice to that of a professional athlete. To stay on top of his game he is a professional actor-lete when it comes to training. He is even working to perfect his American accent belting out a “Hi how are you today, are you good?” in his best voice. “Learning to speak with an American accent is like learning a new language,” he says, “your mouth, tongue, and jaw have to maneuver in such a way to produce that certain sound; it’s something I need to work on every seriously single day.” Much like the legendary Chadwick Boseman, the Black Panther himself, Bohang wants to live a life of purpose on purpose. He wants his work to impact the lives of others in a positive way, to inspire others to find their purpose while they are still trying to figure things out. His advice to aspiring actors is this: “You have to really love what you do,” he explains. “it is not all glamorous, there is a lot of rejection, but in the end it is very rewarding.”

Melanie Graham

and The Great Escapes by Devona Keel

What goes around comes around” is a common idiom used to express that if someone treats others badly, they in turn will eventually be treated badly by someone else. However, it can be debated that this phrase has evolved and taken on a new meaning. Let us take a minute to journey to the land of “goes around” as we revisit a past experience. In times past, an opportunity was presented and afforded a visit to The Villa at Waters Edge located in Belmont, NC. A dear friend reserved the villa for the weekend and forwarded an invitation that was gladly accepted. Upon arrival, an awestruck expression engulfed my very being as my eyes scanned to and fro this massive infrastructure. Encapsulated by its breathtaking beauty, I was fastened in the vehicle for some time before entering the building. As we toured the secluded and serene grounds, I remember admiring the many amenities. With each calculated step I experienced an extreme fondness for every room in this space. Nonetheless, I did not

indulge the luxuries at that time, but made a vow to return. Five years later , my vow was fulfilled. Consequently, this time was not only the “comes around” season, but also presented with it an opportunity to interview the owner of “The Villa” who, in addition, was also the owner of Morgan and Wells Bed and Breakfast, located in Shelby, North Carolina. Imagine my surprise when I discovered that these magnificent establishments were black owned by the lovely Mrs. Melanie Graham. Graham is an alumni of Johnson C. Smith University in Charlotte, North Carolina. After graduating from college, she participated in the 1986 Miss Black North Carolina Pageant and later moved to New York where she took interest in the modeling arena. Her many endeavors afforded her international travel opportunities to countries such as Italy and Germany. Those experiences would later serve as influencing factors in a brooded desire to recreate a sense of that same euphoric escape in her own hometown. The expression... “Twenty years in the

The collision of entities resulted in the Morgan and Wells Bed and Breakfast utopic experience. Deriving its name from the corner in which it rests, Morgan and Wells Bed and Breakfast is a modest lodging establishment that offers overnight accommodations with additional meal options. Although our uninvited guest, COVID-19, has slightly altered the dynamics of the dining experience, it is yet one to indulge and to marvel.

A community advocate shares his passion about the current cultural climate, old school principals, and his unique style and hair.

W

hat are a few interesting facts about yourself?

In my 53 years on earth, I have acquired essential life-lessons which include working smarter, staying positive, and valuing time with family.

What does Black Lives Matter mean to you? Many people misunderstand the true meaning of the movement. I believe it declares the injustices that we have faced while it also exposes concealed prejudices. Clearly, there are two sects of guidelines and management. Hatred is taught, and we are targeted. This, I speak as a realist and not a racist.

Why have you remained in Tarboro, N.C.? Why are second chances important? Reared in simplistic “old-school principals, I was taught to respect elders, to love everyone, and to help neighbors. Tarboro is home, and there is a passion that drives me to remain consistent to native values and embody those qualities to influence the future of our black youth.

We all have made mistakes and I have personally felt the pangs of being misunderstood and misjudged. Because of my strong belief in God, the power of prayer and the ability to change, forgiveness is vital. Being granted many second

chances in my life has caused me to extend that same grace to others.

What is your favorite community project/hobby mash-up? Helping others and motorcycle riding both bring me great joy. Riding, allows me to meditate, unwind, and listen to soothing sounds while absorbing the peaceful terrain. While lending aid to others appeals to my inner most being. Riding motorcycles with the Street Soldiers Motorcycle Club mergers those two passions and allows me to experience a level of fulfillment. The club is made up of 36 men from different North Carolinian cities and various professions. We have formed community support outreach networks and have organized a number of assistance driven events to supply resources to families in need. Your dreadlocks are amazing, and your personal style is undoubtedly suave. Please share your “loc” journey and your fashionably tasteful techiques with us. My “loc” journey began about nine years ago. Having naturally thick hair, I decided to “loc and go”. It was a challenge finding compatible hair products, but when I discovered Taliah Waajid, Black Earth Products Loc It Up Hair Gel it was “on and lockin’”. My stylist, who is also my niece, schedules monthly maintenance appointments to keep my locks fresh and tight. In reference to style, I love to mix, match, and play with vibrant colors to find the best look to compliment my swag. There is nothing like having your own unique style. Blazers, jeans, and boots are my forte. To top off a signature look, I secure the crown to wear an up do, dress it up in a head wrap, or let it cascade at full length. I just have fun with it! - JOYLETTE HILLIARD

SUMMER Clavon Wear: 2021 STYLE

World Traveler by Krystal Carr Sancho

World renowned fashion designer and stylist, Clavon Leonard, sets off to do what no black male in the fashion industry has done before. His intent to amplify the voice of the of the modern African American male through fashion has sent him on a fantastic voyage. Having traveled and studied abroad in places such as Morocco, Bangladesh, and Montreal; Leonard absorbs the many multiplicities that spark the inspiration he brings into his creative space to guide the process from inception to production. This cutting-edge designer offers opportunities of expression through his unique choices in fabric. These exotic materials are strategically sought out in different areas of the world. For instance, Dhaka, Bangladesh houses over 4,000 textile vendors. Leonard spends days at a time withstanding sweltering conditions, in search of the perfect pattern. Once he gets a “feel” for it, he is instantly inspired and with the Midas touch, he spins it into a golden creation. Leonard, along with his designer brands, have graced the grounds of New Zealand, Hong Kong, Beijing, Australia, and Acura. In his latest collection he merges the vibrancy of the “fabric of love” with the Afrotropical dominion of Africa to import the distinctive aura of Clavon Wear 2021.
