A New Brand about Urban Gardening & packaging design
Project background -
This project will link to the DIP theme: How graphic design encourage a slow living? A new brand about urban gardening that offering mini gardening kit collection for urbanites, which aimed to make changes of slowing down life pace from taking time to attempt new hobbies of gardening, getting new stimulations and conscious lifestyle through the slow activities of gardening.

Pointed that slow living is suitable for local employees with getting their balance between high efficiency of work pace and life.

Slow activities mostly lead people to reconnect their environment and nature since nature can be a role of healing for release stress.

By using healing of nature for awakening of the individual’s mind figure out a 'want' life instead of a 'needed' hectic life.
Researches for existing Urban Gardening products/ services Urban gardening products in Hong Kong market are divided in 2 categories:
home farming kit
Urban rooftop farming
Findings Compared two main categories of urban gardening brands, home farming kit way is more suitable to urbanites for implementing slow gardening as it is not limited by place, more accessible for urbanites to cultivate interests of gardening and habit of slow down and living in right pace in every day.

Inspiration Floral time inspired by its brand name in Chinese (花時間︎), it has multiple meanings: spending time and getting along with plants; which to bring out the brand objective, we hope urbanites will have a great green break with their plants in everyday life for unwinding.

Improving the logo to be more figurative, let target audience easier to imagine a clock and blossom symbols and the behind significance of reminding people that it's time to getting along with their little flourish garden.
Wide tracking in typography are also considered to create a relaxing feeling for target audience.

Packaging ideas -
Base and Lid as the packaging structure Take out the inner box (pot), reverse and push into outer box (pot tray) when starting gardening; in order to observe the plant growth status, the pot will lower with the plant grow and its weight increasing and estimating which life stages of plant you are currently along with, Floral Time reminds urban growers can aware and priase of the subtle beauty of nature, from every stages of plant growth.
Design Concept The lid and base packaging based on flower-shaped diecut and natural patterns of plant life stages, it required time to present a marvelous life cycle of a flourishing plant when taking slowly to unbox. Floral Time encourages city-dwellers giving time and patient to get along with plants, take care and witness plant thrives gradually, meanwhile, plants brings you a conscious lifestyle and well being.

DSD Manhole Cover Design Competition
Project background -
The competition aimed to design manhole covers, let the passers-by can find the beauty in forgotten spaces in Hong Kong, meanwhile deepen public awareness of the contribution of the Drainage Services Department. Themes of the design are around as celebrate and throwback 30th anniversary of Drainage Services Department; Optimizing and greening channels in Hong Kong, building a better living environment for residents and creatures; Repairing aging pipes and channels; Shatin Sewage Treatment Works moved to the cave, releasing more lands for bringing long-term benefits to the community and environment of Sha Tin like building houses.
Sketches
The concept based on the contribution of the Drainage Services Department to the public. The Drainage Services Department has been working to revitalise a number of rivers in the past 30 years and create a coexistence space of urban and ecological environment. Besides, the endless river is a metaphor that looking forward to future works of DSD can bring well-being to the social, ecological and public health, also passing down the development of channels revitalization in Hong Kong.
