BOOK REMEMBERS VILLAGE LIFE

A hundred years ago this July the village of Crawshawbooth on the edge of the Pennine Hills held a pageant that lived in the memory of local residents all their lives. Stories about it passed on through families, going into village folklore. The pageant was held to raise funds for the village church, which has now been closed and in a sad state of disrepair for many years, although reuse is now pending. However, the details of the pageant miraculously survived, and are recorded in a new book, Fallen Leaves of an Ancient Forest.
