PREESALL FIRE STATION
Crew Manager, Sarah Holden
This month we will introduce crew manager Sarah Holden who started as an on-call firefighter four years ago. ‘My name is Sarah Holden. I applied to be oncall as I got to the point in my life where my children were getting older and I had more time on my hands. ‘I like to run, so the fitness tests were quite easy. The two-week recruit course was hard and intense, but I felt like I emerged from it a stronger person. I fell in love with the role straight away. The support the fire service provides for the community is unbelievable. After being in the role just six months I applied to be a full-time firefighter. I was successful and got posted to Lancaster Fire and Ambulance Station for three years. ‘I am now a crew manager and support training, development and recruitment in the Wyre and Fylde area. So, if anyone is interested in the role, please talk to me!’
Incidents
Recently the crew have attended incidents caused by mental health, assisted North West Ambulance service to gain entry, RTC’s and some cooking incidents.
Be Water Aware
It looks like we are in for another scorcher of a month. We really want you to enjoy the hot weather, but please be careful when near the beach as the tide can come in very fast and never leave children unattended or take your eyes of them whilst on the beach. Remember, it is colder than it looks and the current is strong. Never swim alone so someone is there to help you if you need it. Do not go too far from the shore.
