KNOTT END RAILWAY

They say a new broom sweeps clean, and it’s certainly true with us - out with the armchair pilots and in with the grafters. Following on from our last meeting at Parrox Hall (our thanks to Mr Elletson), the railway now has an official fundraising team (with thanks to Leanne Murray) plus our very own web page. Leanne has been like dynamite and we are eternally grateful to her and Matthew Salter as Leanne is also applying for charity status on our behalf. The railway is also hoping to have its very first loco soon; a Simplex 0-4-0. It has been rescued from Bishop Auckland and is under restoration. It will be ideal for shunting duties and work trains and becoming Rusty for our ‘Friends of Thomas’ events. We have also been approached by an engineering firm near Preston which has kindly offered to build our passenger coaches and when completed will be painted in maroon and cream (or ‘blood and custard’ as nicknamed by British Railways). September could see us holding our first fundraising family event within the grounds of Parrox Hall. There will be various attractions plus live bands, rides, a beer tent and more, so watch this space! Many thanks to those who have donated various items of bric-abrac for the fundraising stall.
