HAMBLETON PARISH COUNCIL

Parish Council Next Meeting

The next meeting will be held on Tues 6th July at 7:30pm. It will be held face-to-face at the village hall. Members of the public are encouraged to attend, but due to current restrictions, please contact the clerk for attendance details. If you are unable to join but have an issue you would like the council to consider, please let the clerk know.

Hambleton in Bloom

Hambleton is looking ‘bloomin’ loverly’ and much of this is due to the work of Cutts Lane Nurseries and the volunteers in the village. Our thanks go out to all involved. If you would like to join the band of volunteers to donate even a little time to the cause please contact the parish clerk for details.

Best Kept Village

Hambleton has again entered the best kept village competition. Some of the key things that are judged are amount of litter, areas being kept weed-free and road signs being visible and clean. These things are not just for judging but make Hambleton a better place to live and visit. Please consider keeping areas around your own home tidy eg ensure grids are clear of debris and roadside and pavement outside your home are weed free. If you notice anything in the village that looks particularly unsightly, and you are unable to sort yourself, please report it to the appropriate channels and if in doubt contact the parish clerk for support. Unfortunately the village has been a victim of vandalism over recent weeks with graffiti on bus shelters and glass smashed to the point where we could potentially lose one of the shelters. This would be a sad loss to many due to the actions of a few. There have also been reports of issues up by the river, for example tampering with the life belt and breaking down fences. Some of these actions have resulted in letters being

sent by the police to parents. Please look after the village and ensure that your children understand the potential impact of such damaging actions.

Bob Williamson Park

Please can park users leave the back gate clear at all times. Access is required to cut grass and carry out maintenance. Recently Wyre Council has had to find car owners before being able to access the park. The parish council is seeking your views on the future development of the park. If you have any ideas that you would like to be considered please contact the clerk or speak to one of the councillors.

Speeding in Village

Sadly there have been a number of incidents on the roads in and around Hambleton recently. The council has set up a road safety group and had the first meeting last month. Working with the local primary school, there has already been a walk to school day and a road safety poster competition organised. Look out for the winning posters around the village. The parish council is also in the process of purchasing two new speed indicator devices which will, when installed, highlight the issue of speeding around the village. If you have concerns about road safety in the village, you have been involved in an accident or near miss due to speeding in the village or if you have children and are concerned for their safety on the village roads, please contact the clerk to register your interest.
