Stalmine Woodland Surveys

An in-depth survey of the trees has been completed and areas needing remedial action have been highlighted. A further survey will take place in late August to determine the extent of the Ash die back in the younger part of the wood and how much further felling needs to take place. The pond survey has revealed that there are two ponds. One that is present all year round and one that dries up in warmer weather. Plans for their ongoing management are now being developed. The small mammal survey has identified evidence of bank voles, wood mice and a water shrew.
Public Footpath Signage
A further request has been made to Lancashire County Council for new footpath signs to enable Stalmine Parish Council to continue its work of repairing the footpaths on behalf of LCC. It is hoped that these will be delivered in early July
