EDITOR'S LETTER 82
P
assword: Rebirth. We all know that the "new year" psychologically begins for everyone at the beginning of the new post-summer working season. This is therefore a moment of great ferment, projects, ideas for change. We do not yet know exactly how long the pandemic will keep us in this perennial (even mental) situation, but we can and must hope that the global vaccination campaign will lead to something definitive. As we see the situation gradually improving, it is normal to go through various mental phases including fear, rebellion, optimism and awareness. We have tried to retrace these phases by showing you our editorial version, crowned by other topics that are important to us such as climate change, the importance of gender free and, as always, our love for multi-ethnicity.

How many times in this year and a half have we wanted to escape from reality? And by escape I mean literally. A rush, an outlet, an infinite desert of which we don't see the end, in which getting lost and not think. A parallel world, almost, where there is no pandemic nightmare. A dimension in which one could still live in a normal way the community. A place to relax, watch the sunset and find ourselves.

JAIN
Cover star of this brand-new LATEST Issue is model and businesswoman Elvira Jain. Jain started out as a model at a very young age, when she was only 16, after she was discovered by a Moldovian designer back in High School. Since then, she managed to achieve her dream every day, working with well-known agencies and brands all over the world. Jain has also kept her academic career, managing to successfully get her degree in Finance and an MBA in Finance at London Business School. This academic success, eventually helped her in consolidating herself in the fashion and luxury industry, ultimately taking her to achieve another big goal in her career. Currently, she’s planning to open a clinic in Dubai with new and exciting techniques for applying beauty touches to the body in a healthy and safe way. We spoke with her about her early days as a model, and her consolidated model agency. She also gave us precious advice to share if you want to pursue this career dream and how to stay grounded in the process, managing both the modeling career and the academic success.
interview by Ludovica Mucci - up to page 39
p.29
You started out your modeling career when you were only 16. How was the process like? Have you always wanted to be a model? I was discovered while I was in school at the math class by a Moldovan designer. Till the time I was discovered I always wanted to be an actress (especially in Spanish movies), but since she noticed me, she inspired in me the desire of being on magazines, billboards, campaigns, working with big brands. and that is what very soon happened. Lots of contracts, magazines, campaigns. A wish that was becoming true. Despite working on modeling and being the subject of several campaigns and ads, you never gave up on studying. How did you manage to the balance between both lives? I always considered and believed that study is very important since it gives you a base for your future and for your general education, if you want to open a business. It is not easy to manage both, since you must be absent from university maybe for even 2 months sometime, so there is really a lot of material to study and cope up with! But I think the rewards are always there. Whatever you plant in, you get the result later for sure! If you could give any advice to younglings trying to make it in the fashion and beauty industry, what would you say to them? If this is what you really want, believe in yourself and pursue it. It is not easy, it requires a lot of work and dedication. But if you are ready to do it, then everything is possible and achievable. Find a mother agency that believes in you, and they will push you. Sometimes, in the beginning, in a smaller/boutique agency you can achieve more to build your book, and then go into a big agency. Important is to keep trying, be flexible and focused. Keep knocking the doors, and that one door that will open will bring you big name and fame. Which is the best experience you’ve had so far working in the industry? I had a lot of "best experiences", I really loved doing the shows of Dolce&Gabbana in Dubai, or Philip Plein in Qatar and meeting him personally. I remember my first cover shoot for Dior in Dubai was something wow, I was so happy when they choose me. Recently representing the dress of the French designer Christoph Guillarme in Venice Film Festival gave a me a nice experience and feeling- being with Penelope Cruz on the same carpet. Cannes Film Festival in July with Chopard was amazing as well.

Do you have any cool anecdotes to share from your time at uni? Since I was traveling a lot with model contracts, I think I can say a funny story from my school. When the designer came to school and she choose me, I did not tell to my parents about it, being from a scientist family (grandfather was a renowned scientist, grandmother a literary critic) I would assume they might not accept me being a model, so I took my best friend from school with me when I first had to go meet the designer in her office to participate to Next Top Model Moldova. She was there with me in all the modeling adventures for the first few months till my first contract abroad happened :) Your work and dedication are an example of how two very different worlds, like finance and modeling, can coexist. Have you ever consider applying what you studied even in the modeling field? Like starting your agency for example, or a brand…Do you have any project in the pipeline in this sense? When I was 18, I opened my own mother agency, as I was having already all the contacts and knowledge of the best agencies around the world. So, I used to work with new faces from Moldova, and with professional models around the world, since I used to meet so many during my own contracts. And in fact, at that time, we were the only model agency in Moldova working abroad getting contracts for models. And I am proud of it, I was very selective with models, to make sure they will get into the best agencies. I used to work only with the top agencies to make sure models and me as mother agency will get paid. So yes, I always was business mind orientated. And yes, finance is something that helps you in everything you do. You are currently working on a ground-breaking experiment concerning beauty technology, can you talk us through this project? Not really technology, I am opening a clinic in Dubai, that will be combine some machines for face beauty and body, as well as supernatural procedures based on oxygen for antiaging and body well-being, face massage and some face exercise to lift face. Being a model, traveling around the world I know the secrets of looking good and stay healthy. Beauty starts with the inside health so is important how we take care of ourselves in complex. And I feel I can give a lot to people in term of this and bring in the best masters. Do you have a personal skin-care routine that helps you start the day on the right foot? I use only facewash, a toner, and face cream with a sun protection factor. I avoid using too many products on face since it could have a bad effect on a long term.

Lonely Party
And here it is, after being invested by the sublime of the journey in nature, the joy returns. The uncontrolled joy, the one that makes us run, jumping and playing laughing like children. We feel free again, for a moment. We wipe out any bad thoughts from the mind. We are in a neutral place where it is possible to pretend that all is well, that nothing has changed in this year and a half. It's easy to let off steam in a healthy way here.

During this pandemic year, real supporters have been created. Covid-19 exists, it doesn't exist. The vaccine is necessary, the vaccine is a way to control and modify our DNA. Sport makes us happy and makes states win during competitions. Sport only serves to create gatherings during competitions. The green pass is a great idea, the green pass takes away our freedom. A lot of these fans are obviously given by ignorance, but much is also fueled by a total lack of communication and reassurance from the media. Likewise, for next season the Trends have suffered the same fate. Cowboys and Indians, one of the biggest human fights in the world ever. Just like then, man's internal conflict is making itself felt. Even if you are a cowboy, you can't help but side with the Indians, a little. Therefore, during the fashion shows, we see collections in which both styles are present, inspired by both sides. Same show, same collection, same designer. This is to show that we all are, in life, a bit on the bad side and a bit on the good one. There is no black or white, only the middle way can be decisive. The way of respect, compassion and listening. A little less than a conflict, but still a division, there are the "rest at home" teams and the "Party People" teams. Still not feeling ready to leave the comforts and softness of your sofa? For this fall/winter you will find an endless list of enveloping duvet jackets, completely similar to quilts. The maxi trend is Maxi, so go ahead to oversize in the true sense of the word. Also for accessories. Real slippers instead of normal shoes, hairy or not. Comfortable and slippery suits. If, on the other hand, you have experienced the pandemic suffering mainly from the lack of parties, fun and madness, now is the time to overdo it. Nobody can blame you. Then go crazy bright colors, metallic fabrics, futuristic shapes, huge coats in ecological fur (of course), and the inevitable gold and silver. Fall/winter 2021/22 trends
QUILT 4.
It may be a habit by now in the living room - sofa - blanket, but some just still can't abandon the idea of comfort. And why not, here the jackets look like real quilts. To carry with you, on you, stay warm and soft but with style. And if you believe this trend is only for those who slip in the first thing they find, to go running errands, you are wrong. Ours is a comfortable "daytime" look, yes, but very stylish and perfect for a long working day. Jacquemus' satin midi skirt and Simone Rocha handbag make the ensemble more elegant. Proenza Schouler slippers and Bottega Veneta cat-eye glasses give it the right modern sprint.

THE SNOWMAN 4. 1.
2.
We continue to wink at a comfortable mood, but obviously this is just our choice's look. Each trend could be interpreted in all styles, even the most glamorous. Maybe because of the pandemic made us walk a lot and stay outdoors, the idea of a furry maxi coat does not mind at all. And we think of a slightly grunge Yeti, taking inspiration from the Sportmax and Dolce & Gabbana fashion shows, who goes to have an aperitif with her friends. Comfort with style? Here we are. In the Miu Miu bag there is room for everything you want to take with you, and the Balenciaga sneakers will make you fly downtown in an instant, even if you are a little late.

SKIING WEEKEND
2.
1.
Did we already say maxi and comfortable? Pay attention because in this snow holiday you could get lost in your duvet jacket! And if weekend skiing usually rhymes with sportswear, always remember that it depends on where you are going. In Cortina, for sure, no one will turn up their noses if you have paid so much attention to style. So let's make the "sporty" super chic, with the Lisa Yang trousers in cable-knit cashmere, the cream-colored Balmain glasses (oversize, also here) and the Ruslan Baginskiy Hats hat in synthetic fur.

NEW NEUTRAL
2.
Maxi trend that has now entered our hearts. It has largely overcome the barriers of the seasons, thanks also to many influencers who have made neutral a real reason for living. Instagram is literally full of girls' profiles who post only more or less monochromatic interiors and dresses, in shades ranging from beige to taupe, with at most black and white tips. Inspired by the fantastic Max Mara collection (from which we have chosen an amazing maxi bag), we continue here offering you a perfect daytime look, a dream of elegance and comfort together. The practicality of Balenciaga sock sneakers is now a must, and those who have tried them know that there is no going back. Only for Sports style? No, the ankle boot shape makes them perfect also for this very elegant knitted dress, signed Cult Gaia. The rest of the look completes the mood in great style.

COWBOYS VS INDIANS
2.
1.
We talked about maxi conflicts, especially internal ones. We have seen how designers have interpreted this situation in various ways. Some, speaking of cowboys and Indians, have embraced both parts in their collection, demonstrating how each of us can become a bit of a victim and a bit of an executioner. For our look we have chosen to create even greater harmony, taking clear elements from both trends. The result? We love it. And we hope that sooner or later humanity will lose interest in conflicts, thus also taking care of their own, inner ones.

BACK TO COLLEGE 2.
1. 3.
In a mood of inner research (indispensable in this period) it is impossible not to pass from one's adolescence. That period full of contradictions, of happiness and pain lived 100%. And what better cure than to always feel young? A little help, but not that little, can give you what you wear. And so for fall winter we have a great return of the "college" style, complete with grunge inspirations for the most daring. Philosophy pull vest here is perfect for creating the starting mood. Moschino denim shorts with teddy bear, and Marc Jacobs bag with Snoopy make us feel a bit like a child. While the Magda Butrym biker jacket and McQueen boots remind us of our alternative period.

VELVET
2.
1. The 70s mood, even a little rock, is now super inserted in the maxi trends. Almost like neutral, this style is almost passing seasonality. Also here accomplices models, young bands and influencers who flood social media with images and videos that seem to come out of a Led Zeppelin concert. Fabrics play their part in reminding us of a period, and here velvet comes in handy. Especially if ribbed, as we chose for our look with the Tory Burch jacket and flared trousers by Etro. The accessories then transport us straight to the cast of American Hustle.

TON SUR TON
2.
1. Speaking of returning to "normality", in which we hope worldly life is also included, one cannot help but think of the idea of wanting to be noticed. The ton sur ton style can also be seen in a sober key, of course, but why not use it as an excuse to have all eyes on you every now and then? So let's try bright colors, or choose a particular pattern. The only rule? Everything must be in the same color, even the accessories! And since we're on the subject of precision, don't be caught unprepared and choose your underwear well too.

ALL-ROUND SLEEVES 2. Remaining in the theme of being noticed, certainly do not go unnoticed the sleeves (and shoulders) of this autumn winter. We have seen them rise and expand for a few seasons already, with the pointed culmination for Balmain in the S / S 2021. Now they are just as visible, but softer. Shoulder and sleeve form a smooth, harmonious all-round. A pictorial picture attracts glances. We have seen them in Loewe, Roksanda, Vuitton among others. Here our young and evening version, with denim skirt by Dries van Noten and elastic boots by Balmain. Did we already tell you how comfortable sock shoes are? Yes, even with the heel!

CLUB METAL
2.
Here we are, we are lovers of clubs and parties. It still seems impossible to us to have survived isolation, not seeing friends and having fun. Some designers have staked everything on this. On the post-pandemic future in which excess will be the master. And if it seems so absurd, you just need to open some history books to see how it went in the various post-war periods. Sooner or later, after so many privations, the desire for fun takes over. And while we remind everyone - of course - to be cautious and to respect the directives, we are preparing for a return to the trend. Gold and silver, metallic fabrics have always rhymed with party. Our proposal is elegant and not too excessive but please, sandals must be worn with the weave over the trousers, which has now become a must trend.

BACK TO THE FUTURE
2. If metallic fabrics are synonymous with party and you just don't want to get out of this mood, here comes the iridescent textures and futuristic shapes. Post pandemic? Elsewhere, we are ready to change planet, if necessary. A very young and perfect look for a return to the club (or a London afternoon where, you know, they won't mind you). Norma Kamali's midi skirt will be your highlight, and if the guy you like just doesn't notice you worse for him, you're sure to give him a big headache. The high-cut leotard that reveals the hips, then, is really sexy!

Low Kei luxe There comes a time that almost everyone has experienced, but no one wants to admit it. That day, that night you went out, you saw your friends, you had a good time. And for a moment you let your guard down. You relaxed, vaccinated and felt safe, a bit like if everything was back to normal. When will normality return? Will come back? Everyone dispenses advice and is keen to point out that this is the only time since the beginning of the pandemic in which they are taking risks among the people. Everyone justifies theirself, without anyone asking him. Complete enjoyment is still impossible, as long as there is this fear that lingers in the air. The two too many cocktails at the end of the evening now make themselves felt and you move from the super party phase to the emotional one. The only thing you really miss now is your bed.

Calm has returned to your mind. The desire for rebirth takes another turn, the healthy one. Let's leave our problems behind. For a while, for a weekend. Let's move out of the city and really enjoy time in nature, in total physical and mental peace. We find our internal balance. Let's forget the rush and commitments for a moment. Or, why not, we could start a process of recalculating our existence and lived times. Will it be possible to completely get out of daily hysteria?

The turning point in directing. In conversation with:
Peter FACINELLI
On the occasion of this brand-new LATEST Issue, we got the chance to interview the well-renowned actor and director Peter Facinelli. Facinelli is well known for his directorial works, including the indie production Breaking and Exciting, Netflix psychological thriller The Vanished, but is also famous for having portrayed Dr. Carlisle Cullen in famous cinematographic saga Twilight. Since then, it’s been a long way and Facinelli worked on several other projects including the dystopic book “After the Red Rain” and a comic book for Boom Comics titled “Orphans”. The most recent film he produced is “The Unbreakable Boy” which will be released in theaters in March 2022. Alongside this stunning works, we will also be waiting for future projects in which the director is just working on. Having been inspired by the iconic movie “Butch Cassidy and The Sundance Kid” led by the incredible performances of Paul Newman and Robert Redford, Peter Facinelli has managed to shape his own way into the film industry and to leave a mark. Read this great interview to discover more about his creative process, and to be inspired by useful advice!

Have you always wanted to be an actor? How did it all start? When I was 12 or 13, I saw a film called “Butch Cassidy and The Sundance Kid.” Paul Newman and Robert Redford looked like they were having so much fun in their roles. After watching that film, I thought to myself, “that’s what I want to do be doing for a living.” I didn’t know anyone in the industry, and I was very shy, but the idea of being an actor was influenced by that film. You first directed the indie product Breaking and Exiting last year. How was directing for the first time? Were there any challenges you had to overcome that you didn’t expect? “Breaking and Exiting,” was my directorial debut. We filmed it around 2018. I knew the writer (Jordan Hinson), and I always liked the script. The director she had lined up fell off of the project about two weeks from filming, and the lead actor opposite Jordan also fell off the project. I met with Jordan and the producers about stepping in to direct and decided to do it. I had about a week to prep the film, and I ended up casting Milo Gibson after a lunch meeting with him to replace the other actor that became unavailable. There are always challenges in filming, but I try to focus on solutions rather than the problems. For a 12 day shoot it went well; one week of it being for preparation. It was a passion project for everyone, and everyone involved was there for the love of the film. Netflix’s The Vanished is a psychological thriller and was really a success on the streaming platform. How was your experience directing the feature? Do you have any special memories related to that period? “The Vanished,” was a tougher film to shoot. We had issues getting the tax incentives in one state and had to move the project at the last minute to another state. This caused me to only have one week of
preparation again. Thanks to my first film I was accustomed to less prep time. This one was as a much bigger film with more locations, more actors, and more equipment. There were definitely challenges, but I made sure that it never compromised the movie I was trying to make. I’m very proud of the film. When did you decide to become a director? How was the transition from acting like? I feel like I’ve always had an eye for directing. Ever since I first started. It’s a fine line of collaboration when you’re the lead of the film working with directors. I’ve worked with so many directors over my 30-year career, and I’ve learned so much from all of them. The transition felt very natural to me, and I am excited to have more opportunities to do it in the near future. You starred on Twilight, playing the part of Doctor Carlisle Cullen. Do you have any special memories related to the time you were filming the saga? So many. It was a big part of my career. We filmed 5 movies that came out over a decade. The fanbase has always made it so special, and I’ll always have love for the Cullen Family. As actors we have all moved on to other projects, but when I see anyone from the cast there is a special bond there that is eternal. Pun intended. ;) What advice would you give to young actors or directors that wish to make a successful career out of this challenging profession? It sounds cliche’ but I would say focus on the journey. There is no destination. A career in this field is about growing and challenging yourself as an artist. And storytelling. It’s an art form that is always changing, and you will never feel as though you’ve finally arrived. The minute you do, your art is dead because there is no place to grow. So, focus on your art and just keep going.
How did you spend your quarantine days during pandemic? Did you have any routine or traditions you stuck with during those hard moments? I love travelling. Quarantine was difficult at first, and I couldn’t go out much so I travelled within. I meditated more, read more, spent time getting into shape physically. I realize now that that time for myself was much needed and I’m grateful for it. Now it’s about finding balance. You wrote your first book in 2015. After the Red Rain. Are you planning to write a second book anytime soon? I love story telling. Sometimes it may come start out as a script, or sometimes as a novel. I’ve also created a comic boom for Boom Comics called “Orphans.” Directing, producing, and acting are also forms of storytelling. Whichever form best suits the story is the one I focus on. So yes, I’m open to writing more novels if I feel that is the best platform for the story. p.98
Currently, I have several scripts and TV pilots I’ve written that I’m putting more focus on in getting made. I’m also very excited about “The Unbreakable Boy,” a movie I produced with Lionsgate and Kingdom Films. It was a book that I read that I was able to shepherd into getting made for the big screen. Very proud of this film. It is written and directed by Jon Gunn, and has a great cast led back Zachary Levi. You can look for it to release theatrically in March 2022. After your latest project13 minutes and The Unbreakable Boy release, do you have any new projects in mind about which you can give us a little spoiler? I just acted in a film called “Yesteryear,” which was written and drifted by Adam VillaSenor, who is a director I am really inspired by. I’m also about to go to Italy to play the lead in a film called “Summer in Rome.” I also have two films that I’m attached to direct, which I am currently in the casting phase of.

Since the topic of your book is mainly about environmental issues, what are your thoughts on sustainability? Especially now that we are slowly coming out of a global pandemic, what do you think the film industry can do to stimulate more conversations around this crucial topic? “After the Red Rain,” was a dystopian story and it had elements of environmental issues that caused big changes to our future. It’s an important subject matter and one that we cannot continue to ignore. The Earth will continue to be here. We are not destroying the planet. We are destroying our habitat-- which will destroy us long before we destroy the planet. So, we need to live in harmony with the Earth. We need to stop depleting our resources. We need to take better care of our home before we no longer have a habitual home. The film industry has a way to connect to the masses. Celebrities have large platforms to reach people. This is a cause that needs many people to join in on to make the changes we need for our future. I hope the film community and celebrities will continue to spread awareness on the subject matter. Continue to tell Stories to inspire changes. Work to help raise funds to put towards solutions. No single person or group can make these changes alone, but we can help raise the awareness.
Back Home Now that we have spent our moment in nature, a moment that made us realize that our life was taking a wrong turn, we are ready to go home. From here we have to start again. Putting stakes on our physical and mental resources, making a list of priorities and taking back our spaces. For example have you noticed how, "thanks" to social media, no one seems to have any more time of their own? You receive a business email, the emails become 100 but most people expect a response in a very short time. And if by any chance they see on a social network that you are online, then the answer must come immediately. Because no one conceives of free time anymore, there is only work left now. We need to break away from this whirlwind and learn to let people understand that we are not robots (yet). And for those who do not understand, who cares? Our free time is important to recharge the batteries. Don't sell it off.

Despite the progressive reopening, the post-pandemic world is still a little scary, so if you are nostalgic for past eras that you have not experienced firsthand, the exhibition at the Fashion & Textile Museum in London is the one that suits you. Beautiful People: The Boutique in 1960s Counterculture is a journey into the London of the past, that of the subcultures of the Chelsea district, today one of the most exclusive places in the city. Biba, Granny Takes A Trip, Hung On You, Apple, are just a few of the stores on display that have made British fashion history in the 1960s. The dresses worn by the Rolling Stones, Beatles and other icons of music and cinema will also be on display.

Reinvention and Restlessness: Fashion in the 90s The Museum at FIT, New York - from March 2021 From the '60s, we reach the '90s, with a magnificent retrospective at the Museum at FIT in New York. Reinvention and Restlessness: Fashion in the 90s is a journey back to the rediscovery of 90s fashion, made of extreme minimalism, deconstructivism and elegance. The exhibition presents some of the most iconic garments that have marked one of the most experimental epochs of fashion, starting from Alexander McQueen, passing through Gucci, Calvin Klein and Helmut Lang. On display, there will also be a book with the same name with shots by well-known photographers, including Corinne Day, Steven Meisel, Patrick Demarchelier, Ellen Von Unwerth, Nick Knight, David Sims. MoMu Fashion Museum, Anversa - From September 4, 2021 Following a major renovation, the Momu in Antwerp, one of Europe’s most important fashion museums, is to reopen its doors from 4 September 2021. The museum houses a new library, expanded spaces for exhibitions and archives, which count about 30,000 items to date. In the precious halls of Momu are shown centuries of European fashion history, including the most recent one of some Belgian designers who in Antwerp began their fashion adventure, from Raf Simons to Dries van Noten, to get to Ann Demeulemeester and Haider Ackermann. Legacy, Helmut Newton Foundation, Berlin From 31/10/2021 to 15/5/2022 Hindered by the outbreak of the pandemic, the retrospective on Helmut Newton organized by the Helmut Newton Foundation in Berlin will soon reopen with new thematic paths and a new monograph, even more substantial than the previous one. The exhibition’s president and curator, Matthias Harder, focused on some unpublished sketches and shots, presenting the famous fashion photographer in a completely new light. Obviously, the most famous works will also be exhibited, including the famous covers of fashion magazines, polaroids, and reports on Haute Couture fashion shows. Newton’s unmistakable style will once again amaze Europe. Indeed, after Berlin, other stages of the exhibition are planned, including Milan.
INDOOR OUTDOOR Balance is something subtle, something that seems elusive but that acquires substance if we think about design. The evolution that concerns the sphere of living becomes the interpreter of a new way of thinking about the space around us, in a stimulating game of cross-references between interiors and exteriors. A fluid and creative dialogue between in and out, in which forms, materials, colors and architectures of the space link with fashion and harmonize. The charm of the interior with the naturalness of the exterior.

Love for details brought me closer to the world of fashion: in conversation with:

TRAN
The field of illustration in fashion is still partly obscure. Many young guys have not yet been able to understand how many great possibilities it could give but we are sure that, over time, more and more young people will approach this type of work. Also thanks to social media, of course, which allow you to show your portfolio in a way that was previously impossible, even to imagine. Eris Tran is still a very young boy, of Vietnamese descent, but he already possesses an incredible command of what he does. In love with details, he is clearly fascinated in particular by haute couture collections, where applications, embroidery and shiny fabrics are a must. Despite her young age, Eris has already collaborated with major fashion brands and we expect to see him illustrate much more in the future. Practice and patience, he tells us, are qualities that an illustrator cannot give up. And judging by the accuracy of his designs, we can say that his great effort has paid off.
LATEST INTERVIEW
p.129
Where does your love for fashion come from? Have you always wanted to be an illustrator or are there other roles in this business that interested you? My passion for fashion began when I was a sophomore majoring in Marketing. Back in the day when I accompanied my sister-in-law to choose a wedding dress for her big day, I was overwhelmed by the glittering details and the grandeur of those wedding dresses. And that strong impression did ignite my genuine desire to pursue a career in fashion industry. In the early stages, I just wanted to become a fashion designer because I thought fashion is all about fashion designing, but later I realized that I was wrong. After a long time of much research, I found out that the world of fashion had so much more things to offer and it was massive in a way that I could never imagine. And among its main fields, I chose to embark on fashion illustration. Of course, launching my own fashion brand is still one of my biggest dreams. You are an incredible artist with an obvious eye for details. Surely the haute couture collections are a particular inspiration for you, because of the complexity of garments. Where does your inspiration comes from in particular? The little details on clothes do pique my interest. The sparkles and the special fabric effects, which is a typical feature on Haute Couture garments, have always appealed to me. That’s why Haute Couture has long become a great source of inspiration for me. I spend most of my day drawing those details, presenting them on each and every illustration work of mine. It’s a part of my job and at the same time a part of my hobbies as well. The culture of your country (Vietnam) is clearly very different from the West countries. It is undeniable that man's best creations arise from cultural exchanges. How do you see yourself in the future? Would you like to stay in your country or also live elsewhere?
It seems to me that we can access many different sources of information with just one click thanks to the mass media and technological development. I feel blessed when I can have a chance to gain my knowledge in the field of fashion from Western countries. To me, fashion helps connect the world, opening up opportunities for co-operation among countries. I hope that I can collaborate with more well-known brands from all over the world and I am able to watch fashion show in real life right in fashion capitals of the world. I was born and raised in Vietnam and I love my family very much. Therefore, I think I’d prefer living in Vietnam. But of course I’m still open to opportunity to travel overseas, working on some projects for some period of time and then coming back home. You are very young but you have already worked/ collaborated with important brands such as Bulgari, Dior, Burberry, among others. Is there a designer you dream of working with? I feel fortunate to work with different famous brands, supporting them at their events as fashion illustrator. I hope that there will be more collaboration invites coming in the future. I’m a big fan of Gucci and Dolce Gabbana so if I can have a chance to work with them, it would be fantastic. Social media are now a great springboard for those who know how to exploit them. How would you describe your relationship with the online communities? In my opinion, social media is always a good way to show your works to public. Social media has supported me a lot in showcasing my works and especially keeping me well connected with different brands, which has brought me a lot of great co-operation opportunities with them. And I’d also like to thank my audiences and followers on social media who continuously support me and the journey I’ve been through.

We saw that you participated in a fantastic exhibition, the Wuhan Fashion Art Festival. Can you tell us about the event? How was it participating? Wuhan Fashion Art Festival is the most influential fashion art public event in Wuhan. It has been held for the 12th consecutive year. It mainly consists of a series of contents, such as art exhibitions, brands fashion shows, Graduation Fashion Shows and excellent graduation works exhibition. It hold fashion illustration art exhibition from 2018 and online fashion illustration art exhibition from 2020. Wuhan fashion art season is co-sponsored by Hubei Federation of literary and art circles, Hubei Artists Association and Hubei Institute of fine arts. I have received an invitation from Ms. Shinn Wen, a lecturer at Hubei Institute of Fine Arts. I was among 8 other fashion illustrators from all over the world to have our works displayed in the exhibition. However, due to the epidemic situation, I could only send the digital files of my works to the organizers so that it could be printed and displayed on exhibition days. This is my first time ever having my works showcased in an international exhibition so I’m very happy with it. What advices would you give to other young artists who would like to follow the same path? There are 3 pieces of advice I’d like to give to them: - have a clear goal - be patient - practice makes perfect Despite your young age, we see that you have already started some master classes for illustrator students. Impressive! Are there any future projects you would like to give us a preview of? After publishing my first illustrated book “Dressing in Dreams”, which presents some of my best works, I plan to publish the second book which is designed to be a guide book to drawing. I hope the pandemic will end soon so that I can get back to work and keep fulfilling my dreams.

Beauty products for this fall/winter? The answer is
Gender Less
Our beloved fashionistas already know that beauty rituals are not just for women. On the contrary. And finally the brands have understood this great need to put products on the market that are created and suitable for both sexes, genderless. In short, skin is skin. Until recently, it was thought that there were substantial hormonal differences between men and women, and therefore the products had to be different. We have learned in recent years that this is not so true. There are no male or female skin types. There are oily, dry and combination skins. Delicate and not delicate. These are just the principles to be based on when looking for a product to buy. Whether you are a man or a woman. Furthermore, the growing need of many people not to feel pigeonholed into a specific sexuality has made gender less an imperative, even in the beauty sector. We have chosen for you a series of organic, cruelty free and vegan brands and products to remain faithful to what we like best. We have deliberately avoided all the makeup palettes that you have already seen recommended elsewhere. Instead, we focused more on the truly "beauty" aspect regarding the base of our skin, hair, the work to be done before applying pink mascara or orange eyeshadow. By following these simple steps you will be so radiant that any kind of additional make-up will be good. Pay attention especially to the upcoming cold season, skin care becomes even more important. It tends to get dry more easily and struggles to throw out, without the heat, all toxins that you accumulated in the middle of city traffic.

External opinion shouldn't have an effect on your aesthetics and whatever you decide to do and this line is a reflection of it." GENDER
Freedom We have already started talking about this topic in the previous beauty article, and now it's time to point out the concept. The future is genderless. So why not starting now? We have to begin stop thinking about clothes as something definite that is possible to wear only if you are man or woman. Each of us can feel in one way or another, depending on the day, and it is not right - nor modern the concept that a skirt is only for women. If you think about it, moreover, depending on the time and place fashion have been, and still is, very different. Tell a Scotsman that kilts on men are weird, or tell a man of the 1700s that make-up and wigs are only for women.

KIDS Klub Let's stay on the gender subject. Klub Kids is now one of the biggest drag events in the UK. We chose to shoot our story here to give a voice to a minority that is still practically without rights. The problem, of course, is not drag queens but our society's transphobia. If there now it seems to be a vague acceptance of the gay community, the same cannot really be said about all the rest of sexual orientations, or sexual identities. Already with regard to lesbians, compared to gays, there is a sort of silent rejection. For the drag, then, we are still on the high seas. How unacceptable they feel is shown by the fact that none, in the end, wanted to be filmed during the shoot. For us, this terror of the different continues to remain a mystery and we can only hope that one day something will change.

This is also reflected in fashion, whose latest spring-summer collections have expressed more than ever the desire for openness, rediscovery and adventure, in the name of color, cocktail dresses and evening gowns to show off at outdoor events. The proposals for fall winter 2021/'22 are not entirely different, on the contrary they perfectly represent the balance between the desire to escape and the need for protection. For this reason winter fashion looks are really interesting, especially considering the latest trends in accessories. From the proposals that the LATEST team has selected, different trends emerge alongside several ways of dealing with the coming winter.

LATEST aCCESSORIES Shoes, for example, highlight the different directions that can be taken, depending on personal inspiration. If you want to wear a type of covering shoe, in which the instinct of protection should not however sacrifice that touch of absolutely necessary glamour, Prada’s offers are on the top of the list. The split-sole shoes have trod the catwalks of many other brands, including Vetements, which has oriented towards a more sci-fi style, and Burberry, which on the contrary preferred to walk on neutral paths, more comfortable and classy. On the other hand, the nostalgic air of quarantine still persists, remembering us the times when comfort and functionality were put at the first place, Therefore there is a second way, certainly more comfortable to walk on thanks to Simone Rocha and Chloé, which have proposed a bohemian reinterpretation of the classic summer slipper. More covering and perhaps even more suitable for winter at home and in the city streets, are the proposals of Dsquared2 and Juergen Teller. Post-pandemic restrictions are certainly less strict and so it is hoped that this winter will not pass without some party or aperitif outside the house walls. Victoria Beckham and Jil Sander also thought of this possibility, proposing maxi-boots covered with bright silver vinyl. The glamourrock of these boots would light up any boring winter night. For days of intense cold or for outings on the snow, the shoes and boots in faux fur are absolutely unmissable, as in Miu Miu, Chanel and Ottolinger.

Many trends are expressed also with bags, whose different functions ensure as many outfits. One of the most significant trends is represented by the maxi-tote bag, absolutely necessary if you want to go out and start again without forgetting anything at home. Maybe a bit eccentric, the maxi-totes are definitely essential and good for those who will start traveling again, for work or for fun. Raf Simons and Marni offer solutions for both situations, dyeing the bags with neutral tones first, and the second with more flamboyant shades that certainly will not go unnoticed. The same proposals were also made by Ulla Johnson, Fendi, Tod’s and Burberry. Functionality will be a substantial feature also for fall/winter 2021, and to respond appropriately to this need there are the maxi-belts with mini-handbags. This is a very popular trend in recent years, which has evidently been successful thanks to its comfort. Longchamp is a perfect representative, as Kenzo, Hermès and Gucci are. For an easier but at the same time glamorous look, ideal for cocktail evenings, the bags of Dsquared2, Simone Rocha and Chloé return.

LATEST aCCESSORIES A completely new look that has made its appearance on the winter catwalks this year is the protective snood, an obvious variation of current times, made more appealing thanks to the different shades of fabrics and make-up, essential with this type of accessory in order to enhance the partially covered face. From Miu Miu to Marine Serre, from Ambush to Max Mara and Moschino, the snoods are the accessories that most denote the historical period that we are living in, ideal for days of outdoor sports, but perfect even when you forget the mask at home. To cover the head again the kerchief is a trend that struggles to leave, especially in the latest collections on the catwalk. Since the beginning of the pandemic, when they were used to cover the face in the absence of masks with a real retro style and the most joyful prints, foulards are a must also for winter, thanks to the most original reinterpretations of Paco Rabanne, Versace and Anna Sui’s psychedelic ones. Not less important and certainly necessary, the mask still dominates the fashion scene and is one of the most reinterpreted accessories of the moment. Some original revisions that make you think of everything less than their usefulness in times of pandemic are those of Marine Serre, whose disproportionate lengths and bright colors make you momentarily forget their true purpose. Another proposal certainly more aggressive and post-apocalyptic is that of Rick Owens, whose structure resembles that of the 80s science fiction films.

ENTITA'
complementari We complement each other. We, humans, we complement each other. Not we men and we women, nope. We, in general. We as different ethnic groups, as different identities, we all are part of the same design. An incomprehensible design, it is true. But not less beautiful when we carefully looked it. The fear of the different is something atavistic, animal, natural. It is also true. But we do nothing but say how much we have evolved, compared to animals. How modern, technological, avant-garde we are. How much do we know about medicine, physics, astronomy. But yet we cannot overcome some faded primordial instincts in which the different came to steal our house, the hunting area, the offspring. We have lost the powerful sense of smell, physical elasticity, strength and stamina, acute eyesight. But we are still afraid. And as Flint Sky said in the wonderful film Apocalypto: "Fear is a disease. It crawls into the soul of those who feel it. It has already contaminated your peace. I did not raise you to live in fear. Erase it from your heart."

Human
ENVIRONMENT "Human Environment" is about human connection with climate change using artistic ideas within photography. This series is inspired by the beauty of the earth, including different weather conditions and various landscapes, such as oceans, glaciers and volcanoes. David PD Hyde worked alone creating this series of images, including art direction, making props and painting the model for photographs. His intention was to get the message to more people that we should take care of our planet. Otherwise, in the future we will experience even stronger and more devastating consequences for the climate, to the point of having to face our own extinction as species. It's not the planet that won't make it, it's us.

The climate crisis is now a fact. It is unfortunately a fact, too, that some processes will be irreversible for hundreds or thousands of years. Such as the rising of the seas. This does not mean that since the damage is done we can fold our arms and see how it will turn out. How it will end, if we do not change anything, scientists have explained very well to us in recent years. And if you believe that there will be no catastrophes affecting your personal life, you are very wrong. We are talking about big changes in the space of up to twenty years, in which an increase in global temperature of about 1.5 degrees or worse is estimated, if there will be no big turnaround in the field - above all - of fossil fuels using. Our whole world (but we could say the universe) is based on delicate balances that cannot be upset at these levels. Anything that changes creates a domino effect in the rest of the globe, such as the melting of glaciers. Not just hot. How many times have you heard from people you know: "there's no global warming, in winter it gets colder!". You can explain to these people that anomalous warming of the planet leads, in general, to extreme climatic events. Not only heat waves, therefore, but also freezing in the south areas of the North Pole. Cause? The high pole warming is causing the Arctic stratospheric polar vortex to swing south instead of staying in the zone.
The crisis now requires a personal commitment from us. The truth is that, as often is the case, tangible changes over the previous period can only come from above. This does not mean, of course, that changing some bad habits is impossible for the individual. We could certainly eat less meat and consume as little plastic as possible, among other things. The problem is that most individual change advice does not take into account the cost of living. Most of the people is not rich, that's another sad fact. Most people have to choose cheap when shopping. And, unfortunately, buy products that have an eco-sustainable container has a higher cost. Always. At the moment this is the case. And this comes out of family budgets if applied to all products. Companies pass on their attempt to "do more" on consumers. Clearly the effects are invaluable because most people are then forced not to choose those products. However, companies feel in this way not responsible (I did sustainable packaging, for 2% of my products, if people don't buy it, it's not our fault ...). The solution is obviously far away. The starting point is always the base. We need to create a regularization on the use of harmful materials at the source, only in this way we cam make real progress. When companies that make plastics or fossil fuels are forced to find more to produce, because they will no longer be allowed to work with what they used before, then the music can really change. The prices of everything start from there, and if the basic sustainable materials are more expensive it will always be a choice for the few. Which, if you have not yet understood yet, we can no longer afford.

MEDUSIAN With this editorial we close our new issue and we put the emphasis on the climate change theme. How beautiful is our world, huh? It would be terrible to see it become arid, to see the coral reefs disappear, to see the glaciers at the poles retreating. It would be awful to see it and accept it, but still it'd be more terrible the sequel. If we think that diving into an ocean without a reef would be painful, we're still not realizing what will happen next. What will be of the world with all these changes? Simple. It will fall apart, with us watching. We will not be able to do anything, at that point, to repair. It will be late. Eventually the general climate will be unsustainable for life. Our life too. And when there will be nothing left, the planet will begin a slow, very slow cycle of repair and shine again. In that cycle, however, we will no longer be included.

LATEST PARADISE by Marta Forgione up to page 231
This would be the perfect reward for enduring a year and a half like this. Still, most people are now looking for places to have fun, certainly not a place of total isolation like the one we are about to offer you. But it all depends on what "type" of pandemic you have been through. Some of us, who continued to work, did nothing but hear the complaints of all people day by day. Those against the vaccine, those of the health dictatorship, those of the no mask, anyone was angry and vented as they could, whenever they could. That was in the workplace, for the most part. Not to mention the incredible amount of things to do more than usual, in an attempt to stay afloat in a moment of so much uncertainty. So yes, the lack of fun is felt but the desire for a moment of total peace is incredibly strong. Waking up, breathing in pure air deeply, hearing the sound of the waves, watching the curtains move slightly with the wind, knowing that you are really on vacation, without worries. With no problems from anyone to listen to. With nothing to organize. Time marked only by the moving of the sun. Speaking of Polynesia there are a thousand places that we could mention, and a whole magazine would not be enough to talk about it. But this Tetiaroa atoll is special. Marlon Brando, who was there in 1962 for the shooting of the film Mutiny on the Bounty, immediately understood this. He bought the atoll soon after and lived there with his third wife for a long part of his life.

Then let's go back to some history of this paradise. Tetiaroa Atoll is located about 60km north of the island of Tahiti, and is effectively the site of the most famous mutiny in the history of the UK navy, in 1789. A novel and several movies were made talking about it, including the famous film in which Marlon Brando starred in '62 that we all know. After spending the filming time in Polynesia (and meeting his third wife) he fell so in love with the place that he decided to stay there. He bought the island in '66 and lived there for almost 25 years, for long periods between films, with his family. He described the place as follows: “Tetiaroa is beautiful beyond my ability to describe. It could be said that Tetiaroa is the tincture of the southern seas”. There is no doubt, it is a place to visit. We can imagine how magical and regenerating this place can be, given that Barack Obama also chose it to start writing his memoir.
Atoll
A peculiarity of the Atoll is that it is one of the few in the world that does not have access through the coral reef that surrounds it (it can be reached only by private plane). This gives the sea water inside an incredibly unique color. The immaculate reef makes this place perfect for snorkelers, boasting more than 167 species of fish including stingrays, edged sharks, parrotfish and the famous green turtles. The latter, during the nesting season, come to lay on the island. And in Tetiaroa they are anxiously awaited, it is now a famous place where we are concerned with preserving the species. Off the reef it is also possible to meet whales and dolphins. Safe from any predator, many species of birds, terrestrial and marine, also live on the island. No wonder Marlon Brando immediately wanted to create a sustainable resort, to preserve this unspoiled nature. His project, however, seemed impossible for many years until 2014, the year of the official inauguration of The Brando. p.229

The Brando boasts 35 luxury villas from one to three bedrooms, to which an even more exclusive Residence that has been added few years ago. A completely private beachfront retreat, in Polynesian style where various celebrities such as Lady Gaga, the Ferragnez, Bradley Cooper, Leonardo Di Caprio, Pierce Bronson, Pippa Middleton, etc. have already stayed. Of course we are not talking about prices within everyone's reach, but in their "all inclusive" offer there is really everything. Spa massages, gym, champagne, restaurants, water sports, organic garden, library, pearl shop, and even eco-sustainability educational programs. In fact, on the island there is also an environmental research station, where scholars from all over the world work and which is responsible for preserving the uncontaminated nature of Tetiaroa and the oceans in general. All the buildings and their operation were made carbon free and with sustainable and local materials. Furthermore, the energy sources used are totally renewable. The design of the villas and interiors
Holidays
is something incredible. Very elegant and luxurious, but without ever being excessive. The food is stellar. Fruits and vegetables are harvested in the island's organic garden where, among other things, we find 64 beehives for the creation of honey. The absolute best months for your trip are July, August and September, but in general the important thing is to avoid December and January when, it seems, it rains too much. To have the opportunity to swim with whales that pass in the area, it is also necessary to go from mid-July to mid-October. While the nesting of the turtles takes place from October to March. The icing on the cake? There are no mosquitoes in Tetiaroa. Incredible, right? It seems like a dream to imagine a vacation in such a place, without having to think about polluting mosquito nets or sprays. Yet it is a reality, the insects have been eradicated. They used a particular sterilization program invented by the Institut Louis Malardé in collaboration with the Tetiaroa Society. p.231
