hello from Megan Hello Beauties!! xo xo Women approach me, at first, because they want to grow their businesses... Overnight! There is something I have noticed as I continue to grow and develop my own business -- It is a lot like weight loss. You set a goal. You work your a$$ off (literally) to get there, and sometimes the eventual outcome is not what you originally expected. And that is growth.

I know first hand that it is not always what you put into your mouth, or how many hours you put into your business, that guarantees success. It comes down to TRUSTING that you are growing. It comes down to trusting that what you are doing will provide you with a desired outcome in the end. It just may not be the one you initially expected!

We launched the Signature Life Program (SLP) three times last year. Every time, we had a "number goal" in mind. We either achieved our number goal, came in under our number goal, or simply blew that number goal out of the water! There was no controlling the outcome. The only thing we could control was how we FELT about the results. I have been helping women, in life and in business, for nearly two years. At first, it was about the scale. Now, it is about growing online businesses. This transition Issuereleasing 01 was so easy because it just came to me -- Naturally. It was organic. It was the growth I needed, in my business, at the time.

I can confidently say that all of the Academy members have an idea of what they want. They have a "number goal" in mind. Maybe it is an amount of money they want to make, or a certain target to reach in their groups. Maybe their number goal is a certain number of people they want to help in this world. But guess what? This number will grow, and then it will shrink. It will change! I can see that each Academy member is growing, as we all are, in this ever-growing and ever-changing world! As I reflect back on this October, and the amount of success our Academy members are having, I get quite emotional. It is like growing a little family. We became each other's sounding boards, supports, and biggest fans! Over the course of the next six months, some days will be hard and others will seem easy. We are all growing. We are all growing as a team. We all want to help people. We can't wait to experience this growth together in the months to come!

jackie copeland Three Simple Steps to Grow Your Confidence in the Kitchen It is the glorious days of fall! Fall means cooler temperatures, cosy sweaters, and far too many food temptations at every turn! Even if we manage to say no to the Halloween candy, the Thanksgiving pies, and the Christmas cookies, we are still faced with hectic holiday schedules that often lead to empty pizza boxes and takeout containers littering our kitchen counters. To survive the upcoming madness with our health AND sanity intact, we need a plan – And that plan starts in our own kitchen! By preparing more of our own food, we can leave ourselves a little wiggle room for those occasional, mindful indulgences, without sabotaging our health goals. As health coaches, we talk to clients everyday who are overwhelmed at the idea of preparing their own food. Some of us may even feel just as frustrated as they do, as we try to juggle maintaining our own health goals with supporting our clients and running our businesses. Here is an easy approach designed for busy and novice cooks to grow their confidence in the kitchen. By following these three simple steps, a delicious and Issue 01 healthy meal will be on the table in a matter of minutes!

Step 1: Swap your Chef’s Hat for an Artist’s Easel

Think creatively as you are planning your meals. Forget about following a recipe. Look at the bounty of the seasonal food you have before you at the supermarket or farmer's market. Consider the mixture of colours, tastes, and textures that you are building into a meal. Delight your senses with an Apple Chicken Salad. A combination of crisp apples, sharp red onions, creamy and tangy blue cheese, crunchy walnuts, and sweet cranberries, placed on top of a beautiful green bed of spinach leaves will truly have your taste buds satisfied. Or, build the perfect picture of fall with a Kale and Butternut Squash Chicken Salad. The gorgeous creamy orange of the butternut squash, toasted pumpkin pie spice pepitas, roasted chicken, and tangy cranberries, mixed with the deep green kale, is a nutrient-dense beauty to behold!

Step 2: Choose & Use (in Three Ways) Select your base ingredient and use it three ways - For three different meals. Begin your design process by choosing one main component to be used in three meals. The rotisserie chicken can be used as the base protein for a Kale and Butternut Squash Salad, and for an Apple Chicken Salad. Tossing the dark meat from the chicken with some organic mayo, celery seed, garlic powder, onion powder, grapes, apples, and some spinach leaves ensures that every bite of your rotisserie chicken will be used for a third meal - Chicken Salad Spinach Wraps. Planning meals in this way saves you a tremendous amount of time, and money, at a busy time of year.

Step 3: Take shortcuts Most markets have a produce section filled with already chopped or prepared vegetables, such as chopped butternut squash or shredded kale. Save yourself some preparation time and buy the shortcut versions, when possible. Also, do not spend time searching for a recipe. By following a more creative assemblystyle method, exact measuring is not even necessary. Rely on what you know. For example, you have made many recipes that included roasted vegetables. To make the roasted butternut squash, trust that you know you can simply toss your vegetables in a bit of oil and salt and pepper, and roast them at 400 degrees Fahrenheit, until they reach the desired consistency and colour. It is really that easy. In the same way, building a vinaigrette does not require a recipe when you realise that it is just a formula and you are free to choose what to use based on the ingredients you have on hand. For the Apple Cider Vinaigrette, I used: OIL: 3 tablespoons extra virgin olive oil ACID: 2 tablespoons apple cider vinegar SWEETNESS: 1 teaspoon maple syrup FLAVOUR: 1 tablespoon minced shallots, 1 teaspoon Dijon mustard, and a few dashes of salt and freshly ground pepper

What is your business, and when did it begin? In the fall of 2005, I had my first baby, Aurora (we call her Rory) while my husband was posted to a small Northern Alberta town for work. I was craving a creative outlet, and so in the summer of 2006, Aurora Decor was born. I started out doing weddings at the local community hall, and then moved toward larger weddings in the surrounding hotels. My son, Spencer, was born in the spring of 2007. I remember decorating weddings with a nursing baby sitting in his bucket seat and my daughter in her playpen, all while my husband was working! When we moved to the Calgary area in 2009, I knew I wanted to shift my focus to home interiors, something I have always had a passion for. I now offer consultations, shopping services, and room makeovers.

When did you begin interior decorating?

I have always loved a beautifully thought out space, with organisation and style. My passion for design shows up anytime I have a chance to make a space beautiful: Whether it is a master bedroom, a wedding reception or a space for entertaining friends and family in my own home. Even as a child, my bedroom decor was important to me.

From working with McKee homes to starting your own business... I loved working as a home planner with McKee Homes, and learned so much, but I always had this desire to work on my own business. Working with the blueprints and space planning was fun, but helping clients with decorating and making their house a home (once the house was built) was so fulfilling. I was also desperately seeking a work/life balance as I watched how quickly my kids were growing up.

How do you focus on your business and find balance?

I believe each of us is made uniquely in the image of God, our Creator. He has gifted each of us with very specific talents and skills intended to be used for His Glory. I am first a child of God, then a wife and mother, and then a decorator. If I keep my priorities in that order, it works. Not that it is always easy!

"decor style definitely exists."

How do you discover what a client’s decor style is? Does decor style exist? Just taking a peek at someone’s Pinterest boards will tell you a lot about their style! How a person uses their house will dictate how to decorate as well. I love the opportunity to visit with my clients and get to know them a little better. Do they love to host casual family and friend get-togethers? Do they like to host swanky dinner parties, or have they travelled the world and want to enjoy the pieces they have acquired on their adventures? Decor style definitely exists. Especially in recent years, it is very acceptable to mix several styles into one space – eclectic spaces are on trend. The ability to find the balance can be overwhelming, but that’s okay. It is what I LOVE to do!

Who is your favourite client to work with? I love a client who has spent time thinking how they envision being able to use the space. They have some pictures of spaces that they get excited about (enter Pinterest), and they are excited to see the finished product!

Where does your inspiration come from? EVERYWHERE! Inspiration can come from anything that a client truly LOVES. When I am doing a room in my own home, I need to find something that I really love to inspire the rest of the room. Fabrics are often a great starting point, but a favourite painting, an heirloom chair, or even a gorgeous light fixture could be the inspiration for a room.

Advice for new entrepreneurs 1. Set goals, financial and accomplishment-wise.

2. Take care of yourself by insisting on a schedule that creates a healthy and manageable work/life balance. 3. If there is something you REALLY dislike doing and can afford to do so, out-source it! Nothing sucks the life out of my creativity like paperwork...

"growth often follows the successes and the failures."

Biggest fear in starting your business was... Always – failure. I am in a very opinion-based business, and I want everyone to be happy all the time. This just is not realistic.

On growth and business.... I make a habit of meeting with other business owners, people who inspire and encourage me. I am always inspired and refreshed when I have taken a step back and enjoyed some down time as well. Growth often follows the successes and the failures. The in-between time is about consistency.

How can people work with you in the next six months? "Locally, I recommend starting with a one-hour consultation with me. Often, all people need is the chance to discuss their ideas and the encouragement to get working on them. I can also do design consultations on-line with pictures and a few dimensions of the space. I will send a questionnaire for a client to complete and then we can discuss the space virtually once I have come up with some design ideas.

meet jasmine tosseth-smith What pushed you through your past to get to where you are now?

Two things pushed me through: faith in God, and faith in my children. Without both, I would not be here today. My children gave me something to live for. They gave me something to fight for. They gave me the motivation and incentive I needed to put my big girl panties on and get down to the business of putting my life back together. After I tried to commit suicide for the fourth time, my daughter wrote me a letter that literally changed my life. Even though I couldn’t do it for myself, I could do it for them.

My faith in God gave me a sense of knowing that I was meant for more. It was a reminder that I am never really alone. The universe has my back, as evidenced by the number of times I was spared from death and overcame all other trials. These trials included moving to a new continent on my own, a difficult struggle with infertility, and being a single teen mom. My breakthrough came when I decided to take action and DO. I decided that life wasn’t just going to hand me things. If I wanted a different life, I had to go out there and take it. So I started small by planning out my days: One day, then the next day, and then the Issue 01 next. I received counselling and accepted the help of a state parent aide.

I made a plan to get a job, and actually went out and got one (two, actually). Then, I made a plan to lose 100 lbs and stuck to it. I ended up losing 130 lbs. Affirmations, mantras, and a fakeit-until-it-comes-true mentality got me through the tough times. When it got especially hard, I looked at my kids and told myself to do it for them. They deserved a mom that was not only living, but thriving.

How did you break the pattern of abusive relationships?

The restraining order I took out on my ex did the trick. I had to quit cold turkey, so to speak. Not being allowed to have contact was exactly what I needed to break the cycle of mental brain-washing. For months after the restraining order was put in place, I still wanted to drop the charges and let him out of jail. But as time went on, I found myself back in the real world. I was working, making friends, feeling safe, paying bills, having food in the fridge, and being able to spoil my kids with little things. It was then that I started to see the relationship with open eyes. Through counselling, through changing my mindset, and through practising affirmations, meditation and visualisation, I was able to start reconnecting with my inner self. I could see just how toxic my ex really was for my family. I made a VOW to myself that I would never again compromise myself. I mattered. I had value. I was worth it!

On becoming a coach

My business coach kept encouraging me to be true to myself, to be authentic, and to lead with my story. I finally became brave enough. I started putting my story out there a little at a time. I was amazed at the number of people who resonated with my struggles. I was surprised at how many survivors were actually out there and looking for support and a plan. I have met so many women that have overcome struggles similar to mine that simply need support in reconnecting with their inner awesomeness. I found that through telling my story and sharing the secrets that had helped me, I could go from hopeless to being in love with my life. I could find the man of my dreams and get the house I really, really wanted. I could create a life and business that I am crazy in love with. And to top it all off, I was actually helping other people in sharing my story. Boom! I had, at last, found my passion and purpose. I made it "social media official" and became a coach!

What results have your clients attained in working with you? The number one goal is for my clients to find clarity, a new perspective, and a real plan that works for them. This plan is in alignment with their own personal goals. It is about creating a solid mindset practice that is the foundation for the rest of their lives. They reconnect with the magic that is the universe, and they learn how to leverage it to create the life and business they desire. My clients have:

Issue 01

Gained a new perspective. Found clarity. Created plans to meet their goals. Learned to use boundaries effectively. Remembered just how awesome they are. Whatever comes their way in this life... They. Got. This.

What does a "sassy, spunky, fierce, bad-ass woman" look like to you? She rocks that red lipstick, puts on those heels, flips her hair, and struts her stuff! She knows she is one bad-ass mama-jama because she knows: She is confident and owns her worth, but she is not cocky or conceited! She is still humble enough to ask for help in areas where she is weak and give help to others in areas where she is strong. She owns her story - Past, present and future. She taps into the abundant magic of the universe. She is a woman that is determined to learn and grow as a person. She has an attitude of gratitude. She enjoys her present, while looking forward to her future. She knows that she is more than a survivor. She can do whatever she puts her mind to. There is infinite power within her. She charts her own course, and lives the life SHE desires. She does not compromise her integrity.

To your 23 year old self You are more, and can do more, than you give yourself credit for. The first Issue 01 part was written for you, but you possess infinite power within you to write the remaining chapters of your life how YOU want to write them.

In the next year... Expect big things! I will be speaking on stages all over the country, paying it forward, and helping others create the kick-ass lives they desire. I am currently working on a book about my life that will be published within the next year. We will laugh and cry together. My book will uplift, inspire, encourage, & teach. I will be supporting even more amazing women in my group programs, self-paced video programs, and signature 1:1 programs. My clients inspire me. Even as I help them create the lives and businesses they desire, I learn and grow from their stories and their life lessons too.

On writing an e-book It feels good. The inspiration was found in the question many women ask me – “How did you do it?” The E-book is my way of not only answering that question, but showing them how they can do it too!

You are more, and can do more, than you give yourself credit for. Issue 01

Tips for those struggling with self-abuse or abuse from others? First of all, accept the help of others. It doesn’t make you weak to accept help. It shows you are strong enough to put yourself first when it matters. Secondly, if a reader is involved in an abusive relationship, get out by any means necessary. Get a restraining order. Move to a different city or country. Take your freedom seriously, because you deserve peace. You are worthy, and you are worth it. And lastly, I would remind them that they are tough. They are strong. They are bad-ass. They just need help reconnecting with that awesomeness! Hire a coach, seek counselling, read self-help books, try new things, make new friends. Rediscover who you are!

How did you get on the right path? Helping people and guiding people to live a fulfilling and passionate life has always been a guiding light for me. As I began my career, I thought that counselling was the way that I would help people change their lives. I received a Degree in Psychology, completed a Master’s Degree in Counselling and went on to work on my PhD in Psychology. As I developed my skills and gained experience, I burnt out. I became frustrated with the fact that I wanted to help my clients grow more than they were willing to do the work to change. This was one of the first “a-ha” moments that led me toward coaching. I started to teach college/university psychology courses on personal effectiveness. I remember teaching a class where we showed the movies “The Secret” and “What the Bleep Do We Know?” in the classroom. I felt like I found my calling, yet it still fell short, because we could only take the students so far. Their growth was limited to the course outcomes. However, it was through this process that I recognised that coaching had a much more profound impact: Taking action led to better results. As I opened up my practice to coaching, the coaching clients were coming to the process ASKING to be challenged and showing up ready to do the inner work, to take action. This was what I knew I was meant to do! Shortly thereafter, my life completely shifted. I moved across the country to help my ageing parents after my father’s cancer diagnosis. I left my face-to-face practice and felt I was destined to build an online coaching practice, yet I had no idea where to begin. So I just started from the bottom, starting all over. This was scary and certainly pushed me outside my comfort zone. The biggest stumbling block had been my personal resistance to the move to Atlanta. Internally, I did not want to be there. I saw it as a temporary move. It was not temporary. I was so focused on moving back home to Seattle that I literally blocked my blessings. It was when I surrendered to universal flow, and acknowledged that the move was for my highest and best, that things started to flow so fluidly. As I allowed this process to happen naturally, my personal growth led to my professional growth.

"a special blend of the spiritual and the practical that helps my clients achieve magical results" This led to a spiritual journey of transformation, which then led to a business transformation. Years ago, I never would have called myself an "Intuitive." I cleared the path of judgement, the fear of criticism, and opened myself up to curiosity and joy. I honoured my gifts as an Intuitive and started doing energy work. I was drawn to spiritual practices that could be blended with traditional practical coaching methods, and my new practice was born. I knew I was on the right path when things began to line up that I could have in no way previously predicted. People, guidance, and opportunities were presented that allowed me to grow and helped me to build my business. As an Intuitive, Reiki Master, Certified Angel Card Reader, and Certified Transformational Coach, along with my background in psychology, I weave together a special blend of the spiritual and the practical that helps my clients achieve magical results

How do you focus on your business and find balance?

I have a passion and soul purpose. This keeps me going strong. Balance is so important, so I have time set aside for family, friends, fun, and self-care. I also have a priorities list and planning schedule that I keep track of on a weekly basis. Focusing on business is so much more than focusing solely on tasks. It takes a strong and powerful mindset to keep going when things do not go as expected. This is where self-care comes in. Having a “power pack of mindset tools and strategies that I draw from on rough days is key. Every entrepreneur needs a mindset routine in their back pocket for rainy days! My "secret sauce" is definitely daily self-care/spiritual practice, and having time for joy and fun. Weekends are usually opportunities where I spend time with my family and reconnect with myself. During the week, I have a spiritual practice and self-care practice that keeps me balanced in my life and business. This helps me to stay focused and connected at all times. I recommend it highly to all of my clients. Each person should have his or her own practice that helps to ground their energy and keep them focused on their desires and goals.

"Every entrepreneur needs a mindset routine in their back pocket for rainy days!"

upcoming changes.... I would like to be impacting more people and helping more people to change their lives or businesses. There are only so many people you can help in a one-to-one coaching practice. My goal would be to help more people, reach farther, and impact more lives. I’m currently putting together a group program to reach more people that will be out in the next few months. It is going to be exciting!

Advice for someone who feels stuck? There is so much advice to give, it is challenging to narrow it down! I have created eleven core elements of what each seeker requires to build a life they love. I have a downloadable Seeker’s Guide workbook which is free on my website. It has similar tips to the ones below, and includes all eleven elements. It can be found here: http://bit.ly/seekersguide.

Favorite client?

My favourite type of client to work with is someone who is committed to their growth, even when the going gets tough. Coaching is very much like a dance. In the beginning, it is one step forward, two steps back, two more steps forward, and one step back. However, many people think it is a quick process with a straight shot. Every client has a different process for their growth, depending on where they are and where they want to go. I dig deep with my clients to uncover their emotional blocks, limiting beliefs and the core struggles that keep them stuck. Many of my clients have countless years of patterns of behaviours and belief systems that are deeply ingrained within them. My favourite client is the one that is ready to dig deep into themselves and get emotional so that they can grow. I most identify with high-achieving individuals, because they’re so ambitious, and because many of my clients fitting this description do not value themselves enough. They focus on their weaknesses. It is great that they want to improve in areas of weakness. However, in our work together, we get to uncover their ego consciousness and dig into the shadow self, which is typically where the magic happens. They start to see where they are stuck and work through the blocks and begin to love themselves, flaws and all. I love working with clients because I get to see them take back their power. They take ownership of all they can do, and really rise above their old programming to become the powerhouses that they truly are. It is so amazing and inspiring that it completely lights me up!

Where does your inspiration come from? My inspiration comes from a deeper awareness that I am called to do this type of work. I am called to help people claim their personal power. It also comes from my clients. Each day, there is such amazing joy in seeing the progress and growth that they are making in their lives. It keeps me going, and reminds me that I’m doing work beyond myself. I believe that I am a conduit. The wisdom does not come directly from me, it flows through me. The power is bigger than me. I am just called to do the work and I listen to that calling. I strongly believe that healing the collective is part of this bigger work, and while it is my work in this world, we are all part of a higher consciousness that is calling us back to love. When we are in the consciousness of love, we are in oneness. When we are in the consciousness of fear, we are separate from source and separate from each other. The goal is always love and connection.

On weekly talk shows and staying focused... The show and all my guests inspire me. The show is one of my favourite parts of my week because it provides inspiration. Also, I do not think there is ever a time that I do not want to work. I just love what I do so much! My

" When we are in the consciousness of love, we are in oneness. "

experience is that I will have tough days where clients will drain my energy (which is typical for an empath) and, as a result, I become exhausted. When this happens, I take time to rest and recharge. Self-care is a top priority. With self-care, I can stay in tip-top shape for myself, my loved ones and my clients. If I do not take care of myself, I cannot take care of my family or my clients.

Staying focused is about asking, “How can I serve?” If I am feeling unfocused, I realise I have got to head into meditation, and ask my guides and source, “How I can help guide people today?” Alternatively, I will ask for guidance, from my spirit guides and angels, for what steps to take with a client. I strongly believe we all have a universal team of guides and angels who help us when we ask. When I feel I need help, I ask for it. I will ask for guidance. It always shows up. Trust and faith are a big part of my work.

Do you have an episode of your show that you listen to over and over? This is probably the most difficult question because each episode offers a different piece of wisdom. Each episode has a different expert, who offers information from a different perspective. Truly, there is no single episode that I listen to over and over. I have favourite parts of each episode. Each person on the show has either inspired me or impacted me personally or professionally. I get excited each week to host the show and to see how it fits in with the whole series. So, to answer the question, no, I do not have one that speaks the most to me. It is ALL of them that I am truly inspired by.

Love Your Body, Love Your Style BY LEILA HAYS the fastest way to feel some "body love" is by doing a Body Junk Brain Dump, then creating Better Body Beliefs. Issue 01

All of the beautiful clothes in the world won't make you feel beautiful if you don't feel good about your body. Body confidence has absolutely nothing to do with your size. A thin person can feel terrible about her body, while a plussized woman can feel like the sexiest person alive. When I was at my thinnest, all I had was criticism for my body. My whole life was determined by the number on the scale every morning. I am now literally double the size I was five years ago. And I have never felt this amazing in my body.

The first step when I work with a client, whether one-on-one, in a group program, or during a course, is to work on body confidence. If you do not feel at least SOME love and appreciation for your body, it is going to be extremely difficult to feel good about your appearance, no matter what I tell you to wear. And the fastest way to feel some "body love" is by doing a Body Junk Brain Dump, then creating Better Body Beliefs. These two writing exercises are my signature body confidence boosters. I start every group program and course with them, and I use them with my one-on-one long-term mentorship clients.

The Body Junk Brain Dump is precisely that: You brain dump every single nasty, evil, terrible thing that you have ever thought or said about your body. Get that crap out of your head and onto some paper. You write, and write, and write until you are crying so hard that you cannot see straight. You write until your hand cramps up. You write until your journal is full. You keep writing until you fall asleep. You just keep writing until all of that body junk is on paper. This exercise MUST be done by hand, in pen, and on paper, in order to have the most powerful effect. Typing it out does not seem to work as effectively.

I usually recommend that after this first step, a person should wait a few days before moving on to the next step. Once you have had time to sit with those emotions and not feel them quite so intensely, it is time to create those Better Body Beliefs. Look at your Body Junk Brain Dump and find the five places where you pressed the hardest with your pen. The places where your handwriting was the sloppiest and where there were the most real tear stains. Those beliefs about your body are probably the nastiest, most horrible beliefs. Those beliefs are the beliefs you are going to re-frame first. For example, in your Body Junk Brain Dump, you wrote, "My thighs are huge!" You can re-frame it to sound something like, "My legs are strong. They help me walk through life with strength and purpose." That is a Better Body Belief. I know it is really cheesy, but it truly works.

Every single day, you are going to read those new beliefs out loud.

Once you have created those five Better Body Beliefs, write them out clearly with a fun-coloured pen or marker. Feel free to use glitter, stickers, and really make those core beliefs pieces of art. Then, hang them up prominently where you will see them every day. Good places to hang them would be on the bathroom mirror, in your closet, or on your full length mirror. Every single day, you are going to read those new beliefs out loud. Every time you start to beat yourself up about your body, think about those better beliefs. And as time passes, those negative beliefs will give way to body love!

Makeup vs. No Makeup: The Debate

WITH JAMIE-LEE WIEBE

Recently, Kim Kardashian made headlines because she wore no makeup to a highly publicised event. She looked beautiful, and it got me thinking about a topic I often find myself wondering about. Makeup or no makeup? How often do we hear other ladies say, "Why does she wear makeup? Makeup is so vain." We also hear, "She wears too much makeup," or, "She never leaves the house without any makeup on!" Perhaps this remark resonates with you: "Don't look at me! I don't have my makeup on yet!

Let's examine ourselves for a moment. Ask yourself: How do you like to wear makeup? Do you never wear makeup? Do you wear makeup all the time? Do you wear a little bit or a lot of makeup?

EMBRACE YOUR BEAUTY. Whatever your answer, it is the perfect answer - FOR YOU! The point I am making is this: We all have our preferences, and my own personal preference will never be exactly the same as someone else's preference. And that is okay! Be kind to others about their preferences. Also, be kind to yourself. Allow yourself to be confident in whatever choice you make. Makeup or no makeup, feel beautiful in your skin. Embrace your beauty. Whether you are wearing no makeup or a lot of makeup, do not apologise for your choice. Rock it!

meet alyse gwyn What inspires you in your business?

What inspires me is knowing I am making a difference in someone's health. I love the feeling of giving back. I love having an impact on someone's life. When I am asked what I do for a living, I can say I help others. That is powerful, and it makes me happy.

What is your business all about? My business is holistic health coaching. I work with people to root their mind, body, and soul for optimised health. I started creating my business a little over a year ago. I took a hiatus from it for a short time, to focus on myself and some personal matters, and restarted it a few months ago. My business is ready, and I am excited to get it going full force. I am excited to see its growth and development. Issue 01

Journey to becoming a coach I was a preschool teacher before becoming a holistic health coach. I decided to make the change because I was not completely happy. I went from preschool to preschool. I kept finding the same thing: I was unhappy with management, I was not treated well, and there was not much room for growth. Financially, it was not worth it either. I knew I did not want to just "get by" my whole life. I love working with children, but my happiness meant more for me. My other passion is health, so I entered my schooling program, while still working in the preschool, to earn my certification as a holistic health coach. I had a brief time of unemployment, which I used to my advantage to start building my business. Then, I found a job in my new field of health coaching. I am working full time still, as I work to get my business fully up and running. Luckily, I found a job working as a health coach for a holistic doctor, a job that is strengthening the skills that I will use in my own business.

On work / life balance To be honest, finding balance is something I actively work on. However, for me, I schedule out the time and what I will work on. I schedule when I will work and when I will do personal things in my own life. Finding the balance is not always easy, but I find it takes a commitment to yourself. You need to provide yourself that time off, and have compassion for yourself if things do not work out as you intended. Part of finding the balance is forgiving yourself when things do not work out as you wanted them to. My best tip is to schedule it out. Set reminder alarms to go off on your phone, even for things like reading a book, or a trip to the park. I find that my phone is an easily accessible time management tool. It has been very helpful in managing my time effectively.

On overcoming struggles

Life has many struggles! Balance is actually one of them. I tend to be a perfectionist, and like to be productive. If I feel I am not being fully productive, then it bothers me. So, creating that balance is something that has improved for me in the last three months. I have also struggled with letting go of perfection. Knowing that it is okay to mess up, to fail, to not have everything go exactly "right." Another struggle that still pops up is "comparison-itis," as I have heard it described. I find myself stuck comparing myself to others. Where others are in their journey, what success they are having, and how much further ahead they are in their businesses can bother me at times. I have to remember that they are not me. They are not living my life. Their situation is different than my own. I remind myself to stay present and focus on myself and my own goals. Their level of success does not have to mean a lack of success in my business life.

" Believe you will succeed and feel it to your core. " Issue 01

What is your biggest fear in business?

My biggest fear in business comes in the form of a big question: Can I keep this going for the long haul? Sustaining a successful business is a constant work in progress. Finding clients and enough work to keep income coming in so I can live and eat can be a challenge. The game of survival is my biggest fear, for sure.

What are three things to focus on as a new entrepreneur? 1.) Believing you will succeed and feeling it to your core. If you believe it cannot actually happen, it most likely will not happen. 2.) Focusing on what you want to do and planning out how you will make it happen. Do you need to go back to school? Do you need to get a certification? What is needed to make your business work? Be proactive and make a plan. 3.) Asking for help when needed. It is okay to ask for help, it is not a sign of weakness. You will not know everything along the way. Asking trusted sources for help can bring some wonderful things your way. Asking for help can allow you to meet new potential clients, make connections and network in your community, find knowledge and support, and maybe even see things from a different perspective.

What is your business? I am a self-love weight loss coach and certified Hypnotherapist. I started in January, 2016.

What was your passion to start your business? The biggest passion for starting my business came from my own weight loss journey. I have lost over 6 stone (84 pounds) on my own, not following a single "diet." As I was losing weight, I was inspiring and motivating others to take small steps toward better health. Others believed they could achieve their weight loss goals and that, to me, is my purpose: Helping others believe they are able, and helping them succeed!

How can your new program help women across the world? Wow where do I start? I am so excited about my brand new six-week course TRANSFORM WITH LOVE. It does exactly what it says in the title: It will see you transform the way you see yourself and "diets." You are going to finally learn how to truly love yourself where you are on your journey now, not just when you reach your goal weight. TRANSFORM WITH LOVE gives you the tools to do the mindset work, and unlock those limited beliefs that may be holding you back. It will help women lose the weight with ease and feel empowered and motivated. They will be excited for the journey ahead.

On following your dream You know what? I believe we only get one shot in life, so we may as well have fun doing something we truly love! Always, always follow your passion. Know that you can achieve anything you set your dreams on! No dream is too big! If you can imagine it, you can achieve it. Just think: If you stay the same, you will always get the same result. What if you choose to do something that excites you? Maybe even something that scares you? It can turn out really well! You would want to do that same thing you're absolutely passionate about again and again and, to me, that's life! Don't think about failure. There is no such thing as failure, only room for success. Live your life with no regrets. Learn along the way. You're not going to always get things right, but you're not meant to get it all right. That's how we grow! And that, my lovely, is where the magic happens! Stop waiting for permission from others. Go out there every single day and be in the present moment. Love like there's no tomorrow.

"Don't think about failure. There is no such thing as failure, only room for success."

How do you focus on your business and find balance?

I have a weekly schedule. There are items on there that are non-negotiable. These include times to journal every morning, time for exercise, time to take the children to school, set time for homework with the children, and so forth. Then, I put in my "Bliss time." That is time for me: I enjoy reading a favourite book, going for a jog, taking a nice bath, or meditating or walking. Bliss time is important. I use my alarm on my phone to track my water intake. I plan date nights with my hubby. I remember my values when I'm presented with a proposition. I'm not afraid to say no if something does not fit in with my values or if it affects my time with my family. I set up my coaching and hypnotherapy practice to have a perfect (for me) family/work balance. I make my own choices, so I'm creating my perfect balance and it feels great.

How did you discover your ideal client? I asked many people questions. I talked to people in person. I looked back on what my main struggles were. I have done polls on my "Believe and You Will Achieve" Facebook group. I spent a lot of time asking myself questions: Where does my ideal client shop? What magazines does she buy? I also look at my current clients. I know they are my ideal clients! My ideal client is someone who is fully committed to transforming their mindset around diets. Typically, this is a busy female entrepreneur between the age of 25-45 who finds it difficult to juggle commitments and find the perfect balance with their health and business. This ideal client usually has at least 2 stone (28 pounds) to lose.

Where does you inspiration come from? My husband inspires me because he always believes in me. I think that's why I'm so passionate about helping women believe in themselves. I absolutely love Brendon Burchard. I love his energy, and his motivational messages. Megan Lockhart also inspires me, because she always makes time for me, even when she is really busy. She speaks from her heart and I'm all about that!

What has been your biggest success?

The results that my one-to-one clients have been achieving! One client lost 2 stone (28 pounds) in three months. One client no longer has anxiety attacks that she once believed could not be cured. Another client wore a dress for the first time! It's these things that make my heart melt. The relationship and connection I make with people is key. My motto is to always have fun. I have been very successful in connecting with people because I love what I do with passion. My motivational videos have been a big achievement as well. I am energetic, inspiring, and fun. Many people message me asking to work with me because they connected with me through my videos. I absolutely love making these videos for others. It is a fun process!

Advice for new entrepreneurs? First would be time management. Without this, you end up getting overwhelmed. Secondly, focus on health. Do not let your own health slip because you are so busy focusing on your business. If you are not looking after yourself, how can you possibly show up to be your best self with others? How can you have energy to be fully present with your audience? Lastly, never compare yourself to others. You do not know the struggles they may have been through or the challenges they are currently facing. There is only one you in this universe, so go out there and shine your light! Show the world what you are made of!

How can people work with you in the next six months? What do you have going on? Wow, this question gets me really excited! I have a brand new online six week course called TRANSFORM WITH LOVE that starts on October 31. We cover, in detail, all about mindset, movement, change, fun, self-love and transformation! I have a special early bird offer until October 22. This program will be £398, which can be paid in instalments. After October 22, the price goes up to £498. I am fully engaged with each client in this course. There is a private group where I do two live videos each week, based on questions and working through the modules. There are audio segments to listen to and email support. I am super excited to be offering this course at such a discount price! You can access this course through my website samanthacollison.com, or you can join my Facebook group - "Believe and You Will Achieve!!" My email is samanthacollison@hotmail.com. I also have a special offer on at the moment for my one-to-one coaching program. This can be done through Zoom or Skype, and it's only £350 for a four week intensive coaching session, where I give you powerful techniques to change your eating habits for good. I also offer a Hypnotherapy four week package, which covers everything from anxiety, weight loss, fear, confidence, addictions, and so much more. The cost is £350 for four Zoom or Skype sessions. These can both be accessed through emailing me at samanthacollison@hotmail.com, or through my website samanthacollison.com.

When did you have your first client? I started while I was a student at IIN (Institute for Integrative Nutrition). I launched a website, and when I graduated from school, I found my first client.

How did you find health coaching?

I became a certified personal trainer in January, and then I became interested in the nutrition side of things. I wanted to learn more about holistic nutrition. I found that the holistic nutrition piece was missing from my personal training. I went on vacation with my sister and a friend, graduated from IIN, and two weeks later started health coaching.

A positive mindset is key: Believing you can achieve a goal means you are part of the way there already.

How do you feel about IIN, now that you have gone through it? I am so glad I went through the program. I would have had a different experience with a different program. It connected me with other people with different goals. Doing the personal training made me realise I needed more knowledge and understanding around holistic nutrition. The impact of quality nutrition on personal training is profound.

On juggling motherhood and entrepreneurship

Being a mom comes first and foremost. I have to fit in the business‌ Longer kid naps certainly help! I have to remain organised all the time. I need to know what to work on each day with the business. My father was a big proponent of getting the work done before any play could happen. He operated that way, and I try to do the same. Some days, I work 4 hours. Other days, it is less time than that. It entirely depends on what is happening day by day, and I take each day in stride.

What do you feel your "super power" is? Do you teach your clients what that super power is? "Being a mom comes first and foremost. I have to fit in the business."

I would say my super power is just saying positive and optimistic. It takes a great deal to upset me‌Yes, I mention that strength of mine to clients. They often tell me that they are too hard on themselves most of the time. They have a hard time believing they will not be overweight. A positive mindset is key: Believing you can achieve a goal means you are part of the way there already. Remaining positive and optimistic about the present and the future sets a client on the right path toward achieving their goal.

What are two things you would say to a client to shift their perspective? First of all, do not obsess over numbers. Numbers on a scale, or numbers on the tag on a clothing item. Numbers do not really mean anything, they are just numbers. Secondly, clients need to change the way they speak to themselves. Thinking negatively is not going to move anyone forward. I tell clients to not think negatively about themselves. Instead, they should speak positively about themselves and their bodies. They will eventually start to shift their perspective and mindset about their bodies. Ultimately, they will be more successful at achieving their health and fitness goals.

On choosing a vegan lifestyle I dove right into the world of Veganism. I have been a Vegan five years now! Watching the documentary "Forks over Knives" led me to it. I started to do more research into cutting meat out of my diet. At first, I was going to cut back, but then just decided to dive right into being a Vegan exclusively. One of the most common questions I am asked is, "Do you know any good recipes that do not include meat?"

What kind of foods do you eat? I eat so many more foods now than I did when I was eating meat. Becoming a Vegan means you have to experiment with a variety of foods. I cook beans and other plant-based foods in so many different ways! I still eat burgers and pizza. These foods are just made with different plant-based foods instead of animal-based products! I have way more energy now as a Vegan. I noticed it RIGHT away. My skin is clearer, and the quality of my hair changed quickly.

How did you choose your business name? We love it!

Lifting Lettuce. A friend suggested it, and it stuck! It ties together fitness and nutrition perfectly. And the "Lifting" part can refer to lifting weights and/or lifting your attitude out of despair! It is all about staying positive, strong, and healthy.

Favourite thing about entrepreneurship My favourite thing about being in business for myself is creating my own schedule and being my own boss. I am in control of all of the different aspects of my business... Even the creative side of it! It has been fun, and very rewarding.

What are you looking forward to the most in your business? To be honest, the Intensive at the Hello Life Academy! The sisterhood of entrepreneurs all meeting in one (beautiful) place... I have never done anything like that before, and I know it will be amazing! So much to learn and so much to embrace with respect to my business -- And myself.

On making health a priority... Honestly, you need to carve out time for it, as it will not happen on its own. You have to make time for it. You have to learn to listen to your body. Saying "I don't know what is healthy," or "I don't know what to eat," is not going to get you anywhere. Knowledge is power and there is a wealth of valuable knowledge out there. Seek guidance from others you trust and connect with who know more about fitness and balanced nutrition. Each person is responsible for making their own health a priority.

How do you do that for clients? Each person is responsible for making their own health a priority.

I created programs, like my seasonal nourishment program, for that purpose. Clients who participate in this program are eating seasonal foods that are really great for proper nourishment. Clients will learn what their bodies naturally crave: Natural energy. Then, they can look at their nutrition long-term. A program like my seasonal nourishment program gives a person a chance to understand what their body feels like when they are properly nourished.

Did you grow up with healthy foods in your home? Yes, my family was health conscious. I ate tofu sometimes, and all my friends thought that was weird! Our family outings were frequently active. Even still, I hated my body. I felt intense pressure to be thin. I grew up with two sisters. They were always a little bit thinner than I was. It was suggested to me that "go for walks," or that I should not eat second helpings at mealtimes. It felt a little crappy. Everyone meant well, but it went to my mind at a young age, maybe twelve or thirteen. It often felt like an attack.

How will you show your son positive body image? I will lead my example... Not feeling the need to discuss weight or size. We place the focus on what we eat. We eat things because they make us feel nourished and energetic. We exercise because it makes us feel good. My son, Beckett, does follow the Vegan lifestyle as I do. I look forward to being a positive influence in his life, for his body image, and ultimately for his health.

Energy and the Universe: What is the connection? BY ALYSE GWYN

Picture a big glass filled to the halfway mark with water. How do you view it — As half empty or half full? Consistently finding the glass half-empty — and viewing the world as a difficult place — is a hallmark of negativity. Our mindset is what connects us to the universe, and a detrimental state of mind keeps our energy negative, signaling to the universe that negativity is what we want. What exactly is energy? According to the dictionary, “Energy is the strength and vitality required for sustained physical or mental activity.” Everything is made up of energy. Living things are made up of cells, and cells are made up of molecules. Molecules are constantly moving, which gives off energy. Much like a subliminal signal, energy is a frequency transmitted and felt on a subconscious level — most of the time, we aren’t even aware of it.

Energy is powerful. Whenever we come into contact with another living thing, our energies interplay with each other, affect one another, and ultimately determine what plays out in our lives. The more positive our energy is, the more strength and vitality we have. The less positive our energy is, the less vitality we have. Research has found that a negative outlook can contribute to everything from depression to heart disease to lowered immune system function. It can affect sleep, weight maintenance, the quality of your relationships, your social life, and even your ability to hold a job. Think of your own life and the times it seems as though everything is going wrong. Notice how your misfortune becomes your sole focus. You may find yourself thinking: - My job is no good. - I will never find a boyfriend/girlfriend. - Why do bad things keep happening to me? Do you ever notice how you physically feel when you’re stuck in a pessimistic state of mind? Perhaps you’re more sluggish and tired than usual, or maybe you even start to get sick. These physical ailments are fuelled by the negative energy you possess. Do you also ever notice that after being around someone who is in a bad mood, you also seem to be in a bad mood? Do you want to be around a person who is constantly negative? No. Their energy is draining and lacking in strength and vitality. As you come into contact with them, you will also inevitably be affected. Do you ever feel as though negative patterns seem to continue for you? The more you view life through a negative lens, the more undesirable circumstances seem to keep happening. This is simply the universe responding to you. If you constantly give off negative energy, that frequency is emitted into the world. Since like attracts like, the universe simply delivers what you ask of it, whether or not you’re doing so intentionally. By going through life constantly thinking and fearing the worst, you’re subconsciously broadcasting that you want more of the same.

The good news is that we since create our situations, we can also change them if they are not desirable ones. The more you feel good, love yourself fully, and commit to thinking more positive thoughts, the more good will come into your life. Your once-negative thoughts can transition into thoughts such as: - I am so grateful to have a job that pays my bills. - I’m okay being single and know the right guy/girl will eventually come along. Do you notice how you feel both physically and emotionally when you’re in a more optimistic state of mind? It is like you’re on top of the world! Why not choose to vibrate love and positivity? Notice the thoughts you have about yourself and the world. If you find they’re consistently negative, think about how you can change them to become more positive. Developing self-love is a big step toward emanating positive energy. Start a list of all things that make you feel good, and find ways to keep positivity in your life, and negativity out. Ultimately, we get what we give. Focus on giving — to others and yourself — and the universe will naturally give back to you in spades. Most importantly, keep in mind that the road to positivity is a lifelong journey full of peaks and valleys.

About Tara Hello, I am Tara Antosh, Editor of Hello Life Magazine. I am a happily married stayat-home mom of two (precocious) little girls. I am thankful for God's many blessings: For my hard-working husband, for our cosy little house, and for my circle of friends and family. I am most thankful for the two feisty little ladies that we are raising up. My little ladies challenge me to grow in so many ways. They inspire me to be a better person. I want to show my girls that it is important to serve and care for others. I serve others through various ministries at our family's church. I am also a mentor to first-time moms through a parenthood mentorship program in my community. I also enjoy volunteering in my girls' classrooms. My life is busy, but so Issue 01 fulfilling, and I wouldn't have it any other way!

A bit about me... I graduated in 2004 from the University of Calgary with a Bachelor of General Studies Degree (Minor in Art), and then graduated from SAIT with a New Media Production and Design Diploma in 2006. It was during my post-secondary education that I discovered a passion for graphic design, writing, and editing. I have always been drawn to all things visual: Photography, architecture, art, and typography, in particular. I completed a practicum with a small locally-produced magazine (which is no longer in print) during my time at SAIT. It was a Canadian Photojournalism magazine, and I enjoyed being their Editor for a brief period of time. I also did some layout work for the magazine as well. I married my first (and only) love in 2006. That same year, I accepted a full-time job in Alberta's booming Oil and Gas Industry. Though I was not using many of the skills I acquired in my post-secondary studies, I continued to practise business writing skills. I always paid attention to details as a Land Administrator. Once I became a mom, I decided to stay home (though I have had some part-time work here and there). Though I have been out of the New Media Production and Design industry for ten years, I am excited to get back into the world of magazine editing, as the Editor of Hello Life Magazine. I am so thankful for the opportunity to learn, to grow, and to thrive, along with the team of strong, creative, and inspiring women that make this magazine possible!

"I have always been drawn to all things visual: Photography, architecture, art, and typography, in particular."

Can I get some fitness? After my second daughter was born in 2012, I found myself 70 pounds heavier than ever before. Thanks to some gentle encouragement from others, including Hello Life's own Megan Lockhart, and a fervent desire to feel better, I decided to make some drastic changes to my lifestyle. I started watching portion sizes and eating more vegetables. I started attending High Intensity Interval Training (HIIT) group fitness classes (talk about starting in fitness with a bang!) as often as I could. Ultimately, I began the long and often challenging journey toward better health through fitness. Though I struggle with asthma and a nagging low back injury, I am thankful to have the opportunity to move, and grow in strength and endurance through fitness. I love to run. Rain or shine, I try to lace up my shoes at least three times a week. I recently completed my second half marathon (21.1K) of the year. I have also completed numerous other races at a variety of distances, as well as a try-it distance Triathlon in 2014. I also really enjoy Zumba Fitness, Barre, Tabata-style workouts, and at-home workout videos. I often take post-run or post-workout selfies and put them up on social media. I post these photos to encourage and inspire other women in my life, particularly other busy moms, to get moving. I want them to know that they can make their health and fitness a priority. It takes commitment and perseverance, but it can be done. I say you have to find what you love, and start doing it! Focusing on my health and fitness has been worth it for me in countless ways. I have more energy to keep up with the (copious) demands of life. I have better physical health. I experience less back pain, and have fewer respiratory issues. I am growing in strength and balance. And most importantly, I am a much happier and more emotionally balanced person ("I run to burn off the crazy!"). In the end, I see it as an investment in my health. And I believe that all women are worth that Issue 01 kind of investment!

On social media and fitspiration I regularly use a hashtag on Instagram and Facebook as Fitspiration for others, and for myself: #runsteady. For me, this hashtag represents the desire to keep going, to move forward, to keep running at a steady pace, despite any challenges or setbacks that life deals out. It is a reminder to keep on a steady course: While running, and in life!

Looking to the future In the next few months, I hope to have a better handle on balancing working at home with caring for my family. This working from home situation is relatively new territory for me. I am confident I will be able to figure it all out. I am thankful to have the flexibility and freedom to do work that I love while caring for the people that I love in my home (that I love). I plan to keep on keeping on, as they say. Steady as she goes. And I plan to run steady, of course. #runsteady

meet gillian bell what inspires you to help others?

My self-journey through yoga is what inspires me to help others. From the age of twenty to twenty-five, I suffered with the effects of anxiety and experienced many panic attacks. Although anxiety is something I am constantly keeping at bay, through meditation and breathing exercises, I have been panic attack free for over five years. I want to help others manage their anxiety and improve their mental and physical health. I want them to know they can overcome the often crippling effects of anxiety. I want my daughters to grow up without this burden as well.

On inspiring others...

Truthfully, I was miserable at my well-paying, comfortable desk job. I was very bored, very tired, very stuck energetically. I knew I wanted a change. I have always been a "hyper" person, so sitting still was no longer an option. I thought, why not yoga? Yoga has done wonders for my own mental clarity and the health of my body. I decided I should learn to share this gift with others. The next thing I knew, I had signed up for yoga instructor training and I had quit my job. It was terrifying! And even Issue 01 though I have not been making as much money, I am so much happier. I believe as long as I am happy, the money will eventually follow.

On home-based yoga & expansion The moment I finished my yoga instructor training, we decided to start our family. Being a full time business owner and starting a family were two things I was completely unfamiliar with. So I thought I would ease myself into my home-based business, make my own hours, and take maternity leave when I needed to. Now that my babies are no longer tiny newborns, I have been able to devote more time to expanding the business. At this time, we are sticking with the home-based studio format. We feel there is a shift in the needs of our clients. There is a growing need for a sense of comfort and intimacy in practising yoga. Our smaller classes provide the comfortable and intimate environment they desire.

" Yoga has done wonders for my own mental clarity and the health of my body. "

On focus & balance

I find I am constantly doing both at the same time. Rather than calling it a "balance," I have started referring to it as integration, or an integrated lifestyle. Letting my kids see my own practice (and letting them practice with me) and working hard for them, while at the same time putting aside time for my family. For me, that is an integrated lifestyle. My husband is very supportive of this integrated lifestyle. His support is a huge reason for the success of my business. Mom Bosses everywhere know how hard this can be!

On overcoming struggles Having my husband transition from working on the road to working in town put a bit of a financial stress on the family income. Essentially, my business needed to make up for the difference. At the time, it was stressful to even think about taking it on. Now, I realise it was the push I needed, after having my kids, to grow and expand my business and my income. I am currently struggling with a shift to new software for my clients. Learning the software is challenging, to say the least, but it will make life easier for my clients and on my end of things. It is safe to say that struggles are how you grow and develop in business!

" Honestly, you need to fail in order to grow! " Issue 01

What is your biggest fear in business?

Most people would say their biggest fear in business is failure. Honestly, you need to fail in order to grow! My biggest fear (and, thankfully, it has not happened to me yet), is waking up one day bored again. I am nowhere near that point right now, but you never know! I guess if that happened, it would just open up another door to new possibilities. There would be something else fun to learn and experience on the other side!

What are three things to focus on as a new entrepreneur? I love this question! I would say: 1.) Find yourself, and be yourself. Stay authentic. 2.) Find clientele that "jive" with what you offer. For example, if you want to swear and discuss yoga more in-depth during class, you will probably need to have clients that will be comfortable with swearing and asking questions in class! If they do not like swearing, or digging deeper and asking questions in class, they should probably find another studio! 3.) It is important to inspire others, of course, but make sure you are constantly feeling inspired. Know what inspires you, and what fills your cup. Keep expanding, growing and learning.

Tell me about what you are doing right now!

I am a licensed therapist in Illinois and California. I transitioned into being a mindset and success coach, mostly for female entrepreneurs. Many of these women are just starting out, and are feeling a little afraid. They are not confident enough to stand out in business. I work with online entrepreneurs who are struggling to take it to the next level in business.

the mindset part of your business with clients. After being in private practice for some time, I noticed a theme. Female entrepreneurs were feeling depression and/or anxiety and were really in a dark place in their lives. When we dug deeper, we found that they were struggling with setting boundaries, and finding determination to keep going with their businesses. They needed to shift into a place in their minds where they were doing work they loved — work that felt aligned with their values. Work that was purposeful. They also needed to be taking better care of themselves, surrounding themselves with other people in healthy and dynamic relationships. After some work on shifting their mindset, they felt better. It turns out that many of them were, in fact, not clinically depressed at all. My goal was to really help them find clarity on where they were going, and why they were going in that direction in their business. What they envisioned for themselves in the next six months to one year was key. Also, I really tried to highlight their natural gifts for them. I was able to show them what sets them apart, why they are unique. We all have unique stories. Understanding how the past was getting in the way of them "showing up" in the present allowed them to build confidence in moving forward.

It was also important to figure out their depression or anxiety triggers. What makes them upset or frustrated? What makes them go into self-sabotage mode? Knowing these triggers gives them the power to avoid these situations, when possible. When it is impossible to avoid these triggers, clients could better manage the situation with some mindset adjustments: Focusing on the positive, setting boundaries, where needed, and seeking guidance and support from others in their lives.

On self-worth in business For a number of entrepreneurs, it is tied to the thoughts of “I am not good enough," or, "I am not qualified for this role, I do not have enough experience." Many people also felt they were not as "interesting" in business as they should be. It boiled down to a lack of selfworth: Feeling "not good enough." A lack of confidence is a common problem for entrepreneurs. Additionally, fear frequently paralyses entrepreneurs into not taking appropriate action or risks. Fear limits the growth of their businesses. In reality, these entrepreneurs are more than capable of achieving their goals in business. They just need to feel and understand that they have worth in the business world and beyond! Their businesses can grow and thrive. But recognising their own worth is essential for this growth.

Where do you find your own support? I was able to show them what sets them apart, why they are unique.

I have my own coach, who helps me with business coaching and mindset coaching on a regular basis. Mindset coaches should be practising what they preach — and I do. I have "Biz Buddies" as well. These people are friends and colleagues who are in the trenches right along with me. They know how it feels to be working with and coaching entrepreneurs. I also have a fantastic network of family and friends who are always there to support me, in life and in business. I am so thankful to have support behind me, no matter what I face.

Entrepreneur dreams & following through

Truthfully, I believe that not everyone should. Many individuals are not cut out for the challenging work that comes along with being an entrepreneur. It is a difficult journey. However, if you feel called to do it, you should explore it. If the benefits of entrepreneurship are resonating with you - Creating income, setting your own hours, and ultimately designing your own life - Then, by all means, I would encourage you to pursue it with passion and determination. There can be freedom on the other end of the line. If you are willing to take the leap, and manage the fear and stresses that go along with being an entrepreneur, then I say take that leap! There are personal development programs you can work through to help manage any fears and stresses as well. But being an entrepreneur is not a good fit for all women. "Typical" jobs are fine too. Many women can find fulfilment and enjoyment taking that route as well. It is up to each person to be well informed and decide for themselves what is best.

What is one thing that someone can practice every day to positively change their mindset? There is no single "cookie-cutter" recipe that works for everyone. Start brainstorming: What helps you tune into you? What helps you to stay grounded? What helps you to feel confident in your own skin? Taking time for walking, meditation, a hot shower, yoga, anything you can do to explore what good feels like will help you to be able to tune in to yourself. When you are tuned in to yourself, you are able to change your mindset in a more positive direction.

What good feels like... How do you encourage clients to find this? Everything is an experiment. Try different things and find what feels good. It may not look like anything anyone else does. Keep asking yourself if you like this method or activity, and if you want to commit. If not, move on. Do not be afraid to experiment and not know right away what works for you. It takes a while for people to discover what feels good. That is okay. Just keep showing up. Be consistent. Be curious. And things can change: What works for you right now, may not feel good tomorrow, or in six months! Be open to change.
