HOOVER HIGH KEY CLUB OFFICIAL NEWSLETTER ISSUE 10 VOLUME II

INTRODUCTION To my beloved key clubbers,

I hope everyone is having a wonderful winter break and happy holidays! This month has been another great one with you guys and I still can't believe this year is coming to an end. We started the month by working with Child S.H.A.R.E., helping them arrange binders for foster kids to record their happy memories. It's amazing how simple things can have such an impact on so many. We also had our DCM, which was planned in memorial of Alexis, our former Vice President. We had hiked together and although it was tiring going up, it all seemed worth it in the end. I was happy to be bonding with you guys and getting to know you on a more personal level. As we conclude this year, I want you guys to reflect on everything that you did that may have impacted others around you. Service is a wonderful thing. You can be anywhere yet do everything to make others smile. As we start our new year, I want us to be goal-oriented and plan to be more helpful to the community than ever before. As key clubbers, I know you guys all have the capacity to do amazing things. Have a happy New Years!

Best Regards,

Cherryn Parque

Child S.H.A.R.E. HOLIDAY PREPARATIONS To start off the month of December we had volunteered to help Child SHARE with these artistic memory binders for foster kids. These binders would go out to them during the Holidays, showing the organizations’ push for them to live their life to the fullest. If they were to look back in these binders they’d only see 1 page of sad times and 10 pages of jubilant adventures (which was quite smart of Child SHARE to organize the binders that way). All in all, although a simple tasked event, I quite liked how this was our first choice for “prepping for the Holidays” as Key Clubbers. Eileen Wisco HHS Key Club Bulletin Editor

ROSEBOWLFLOAT It was fun working with other Key Clubbers from our division and other regions respectively despite the arduous tasks the float overseers had for us, but we realized that the float we worked on would look awesome if we put more effort into what they wanted us to do instead of requesting a transfer to an easier task on a different float. Overall, I can’t wait to see what the float will look like after all those hours we spent at the Rose Bowl. Christian Acfalle HHS Key Club Historian

DECEMBER DCM AT BRAND PARK

RECOGNITIONS Aside from being a truly enthusiastic role model by her position as Publicist, Magy is also quite the energetic member! One thing to note is that she has been in Pep Flags for 2 years which explains all her energy and charisma. Academic wise, not only is this Star Trek-loving girl in key club, but she also partakes in our school’s ACSY, STEM, CSF, and NHS clubs. Regardless of all of that, she still advances to make room in her busy schedule to join almost every event she can. On top of that, she continues to put her best into whatever she has to do. She creates a calm environment for all of us Hoover Key Clubbers who go to the occasions, and always knows how to put a smile on someone's face. She is known for being the perfect people person, and her public speaking skills are just a bonus to her spontaneous personality. She is definitely a go-to if you have any questions about Key club. Yaaaay, Magy!

OFFICER OF THE MONTH: CHRISTIAN ACFALLE

MEMBER OF THE MONTH:

Despite his hectic scheduling, Christian is one busy bee when it comes to participating at events. Being Hoover's historian for two years in a row, Christian is constantly seen taking every possible action shot the key clubbers make. He is also known for being the most spirited, so he yells all our cheers louder than all of our officer's combined. Due to his motivating personality, he got our club to go to the extremes by personally advertising our boba sale in our school's carnival. Everyone he meets unquestionably loves his sense of humor and bright smile. Outside of being an officer, however, Christian's bursting energy does not change when it comes to school participation – partaking in our school’s chamber choir. Christian has truly put his heart out when it comes to introducing Key Club to others at our school, and without his service, our club would not have benefited as much as it could have.
