HOOVER HIGH KEY CLUB OFFICIAL NEWSLETTER ISSUE 12 VOLUME II

INTRODUCTION Greetings fellow Key Clubbers! I hope you all enjoyed February - full of love, happiness, and of course let's not forget service! I particularly enjoyed this month because we can all agree that it was somehow odd. From helping out Kiwanis with their Rice and Beans to helping out at Chinatown to pack their goodie-bags for their Firecracker Marathon, it was all pretty much one gigantic rollercoaster. Of course, Salvation has always been one of our favorite events, as the Kiwanians show so much love and affection towards us key clubbers. But Chinatown was something we've never really done. I have to admit, although we were exhausted from sleep deprivation and impatience, these are some of the events where we look back on and think - "man, can you believe we did such a thing?!" Maybe when we're Kiwanians ourselves, we can always remember the ups and downs we had in Key Club. I believe our club that we partake in is one great adventure and something to take pride in for the rest of your life. So treasure every moment, guys, and keep serving others as you would want to be helped. Let's have a wonderful last month of this term 20132014 together as a family, always. Keep it up, wolf pack! Best Regards,

Cherryn Parque Hoover High Key Club President 2013-2014

LA CHINATOWN GOODIE-BAG DAY To start off the Los Angeles Chinatown Annual Firecracker 5k/10k Run/Walk, Hoover High Key Club had helped out in preparing goodie bags for its participants. With numerous volunteers from schools within the area, Hoover High Key Clubbers were able to interact and get to know more about the event than to just lend a helping hand. Despite how simple our tasks were, we were glad to hear that we packaged 4,000 (Yes 4,000) goodie bags for those attending and being a part of February 23rd’s event. These are the events to remember, and these are definitely the kind of events to attend!

SALVATION ARMY RICE & BEAN DRIVE On Saturday, February 21st, Kiwanians and Key Clubbers had both partaken in the Salvation Army Rice & Bean Drive. A simple tasked event that would actually be of benefit to families in need, there is surely no other way to get a few hours in and do one good deed for the day than this!
