NOTES FROM THE BOSS DEAN GIBSON
Lorem ipsum dolor sit amet, consectetur adipiscing elit, sed do eiusmod tempor incididunt ut labore et dolore magna aliqua.
We had a game plan on Sunday and as a group, we carried it out very well. We limited Rangers to very few opportunities. We are disappointed to come away with nothing, but we take positives from the way we defended during the game. I said after Motherwell we need to eradicate the number of soft goals we give away and we did that. As always, we are confident heading into the next game. If we can take the belief we played with on Sunday, but add a bit more in the final third, we will have a real chance of coming away with three points. The second part of what we asked was to be more clinical, can we add that part to our game now? I think there will always be an edge to this game, especially when there are so many players who have competed at the top end for so many years against each other. For the first time, this fixture isn’t a make or break in terms of winning the league title, but there is pride on the line - we don’t want to be on the wrong side of it. The games don’t get any easier, unfortunately, so it’s important we just take it one game at a time. With a shortened squad it’s not going to be easy, but these players would run through a wall for each other so I’ve no concerns about the group at all. Training this week has been lighter in terms of what we do, but the player's attitudes has been the same as always. The group is in good spirits and eager to play the next fixture.
THE CHANGING ROOM EMILY MUTCH
The Hibernian goalkeeper reflects on a spirited team performance against Rangers and the history of tonight's game. Sunday afternoon's 1-0 defeat to Rangers wasn't a result that Hibernian wanted, but it could have been a lot worse if not for the performance of Emily Mutch in goal - the young goalkeeper was called into action plenty of times against the Light Blues: "I was feeling quite confident going into the game after having a good week in training and that confidence just grew as the game went on and I was more involved in it, and I think that confidence was something which contributed massively to me putting in a good performance." It was a fairly resolute performance from the whole team on Sunday, with the defence holding well against a number of attacks from Rangers. Emily believes that the performance shows that Hibs have no problem competing with the league's biggest sides: "I think it was a really good team performance on Sunday everyone came together and worked for each other and I think it showed that when we do that, we are capable of competing with the top teams in this league." Historically, Hibernian vs Glasgow City is one of the biggest and most historic fixtures in Scottish women's football. Emily is in line to make her first appearance in this fixture and is more than ready to come up against the league leaders: "I’m really looking forward to the game, it will be my first game vs City in a Hibs shirt and I think with there being so much history, it’s one that’s no doubt going to be a really competitive game."
