NOTES FROM THE BOSS DEAN GIBSON
Hibernian Women Head Coach Dean Gibson gives his thoughts ahead of a massive derby with Hearts on Sunday. Training has been good this past week. The players' spirits are high as always. It’s another big game for us. They don’t get much bigger when you pull on the Hibs badge. With that in mind, the players have an extra spring in their step going into this weekend’s fixture. This full week of training has been needed. To play three teams who are all full-time within a week is difficult, but with the squad size we have at moment, it’s been even more challenging as we don’t have the luxury of making massive changes weekly. Hopefully, a full week’s rest should set us up well for Sunday. We are feeling determined going into the game against Hearts. We have lost our last three games and we need to put that right this time out. We lost the derby last time, so it’s extremely important we return to winning ways this weekend. These are the games you want to play in, and when you win them, the feeling should be up there with the best you will get in football but also, we are fully aware of how it feels when you’re on the other end of that and it’s not something we are keen to experience again. Everyone is fully focused on the job. I feel Hearts are like us in that their points total doesn’t represent their performances at times. They are a very well organised side, with SWPL experience right through it. So, we won’t take anyone lightly regardless of league position, this game is treated like any other. We will get out of it what we put into it. We will be going for three points. Our last three performances have been good. It’s up to us to start turning good performances into points and that starts on Sunday.
THE CHANGING ROOM AMY GALLACHER
After three tough fixtures, Amy Gallacher gives her thoughts on this Sunday's derby and the season ahead In the space of a week, Hibernian Women played the top three teams in the league - Amy Gallacher is well aware of how challenging this run was, and despite losing all three games, believes that Hibs should have come away with more: "I think we’ve coped okay, although we have came away with three defeats, we didn’t deserve any of those defeats. We have to just start turning those good performances into wins now. "It's been very frustrating. Things just don’t seem to be going our way at the minute but we’ve got to pick ourselves back up and focus on getting a big three points on Sunday." For Hibernian, games don't come much bigger than an Edinburgh Derby against Hearts. Amy knows what these derbies can often mean, and is very much looking forward to this weekend's clash in the capital: "Of course, every derby is a big one. The games are always fiesty to play in and we have had a great week in training to prepare for that. "The whole squad are looking forward to it. It’s a big chance for us to get back to winning ways, so we have to make sure we take it. "We know it’ll be a tough game again, but if we put in the same effort as we have in recent weeks, and are clinical going forward, then hopefully we can get a big three points for us going into the last round of fixtures."
