THG Architects have vast experience in designing nursing homes and service centers for the elderly. We have also designed housing for the elderly, over 1,000 housing units have been completed and we are now working on new and interesting projects in that field. With the population of elderly people growing year by year and in relation to the overall population in the world, the demand of better quality of life of elderly people is increasing and is of great importance for us. We who are in team of architects, engineers, interior designers and contractors have to be updated with the needs of the elderly today and in the future. Our goal is to create comfortable, friendly and safe environment and an appropriate architecture for their sense of well-being. The domestic ambient consists of medical centers, entertainment equipments, home automation systems to ensure their autonomy and safety. The architectural design of a nursing home has to be in context with the good and up-to-date design and to fulfill the combination of social and private life of the elderly, also we have to think of the needs of the visitors, the family members and friends that come to visit, make it a pleasant visit for all, and the visit should be an emotional, sensitive and variable experience.

Elderly care, invisibly supporting people to be part of society among generations. Knowledge of healthcare in different societies gives better insight and the right tools to optimize the support. For example, the healthcare system in the Netherlands is known for its quality and efficiency. In the nineteen sixties elderly care was organized in elderly homes. The role of the caregiving process was very dominant in these institutions, as the care for elderly people regulated the life of the people living in these elderly homes completely. The last 20 years elderly care in the Netherlands has transformed to a way of supporting people to live as normal as possible. It can be supplied in their own homes or in newly built residences in the heart of the society. The new housing for the elderly appears to be a "normal" apartment featuring some intelligent extras and which can be easily adapted to specific needs where necessary. For instance wide doors are both convenient for normal people as necessary for people using a wheelchair. A large bathroom feels luxurious, but is also useful if you need to be supported by a care professional. But these are just examples of "ordinary" issues to be concerned in the design for housing that can be used for a lifetime. Our extensive experience in designing healthcare buildings helps Dutch Health Architects to include this essential, but often invisible, quality in the design for the elderly. Nursing homes have different demands because daily life has to be combined with a good working environment for the healthcare professionals. Intelligent concepts and designs like those of Dutch Health Architects are meeting both requirements at the same time. A profound understanding of designing for all ages, combined with our knowledge and expertise in the design of working environments for healthcare professionals, helps us to "design for a lifetime in which care can discretely support people to remain a part of society among the generations with or without physical or psychological limitations".

FARO Architects
THG Architects
Created in 2004, GRND82 is an open platform for young international professionals practicing in distinguished architecture and interior design studios throughout Barcelona. They approach all of their projects – large or small, public or private – with the same aim: to provide contemporary solutions anchored in social, economic, and cultural context provided through research and constant dialogue with their clients, collaborators, contractors, and users. They enjoy working under a tight budget or in constricted circumstances because it provides them with an opportunity to research new ideas in program, materials, and construction systems to adapt them to new social, economic, and environmental realities. This research is reinforced continually through the studio's participation in various competitions and their member's teaching work in schools of architecture and design: ETSAV, Sint Lucas, ELISAVA, and University of Illinois at Chicago, among others. The work of their team has been recognized in various awards and exhibitions, both international and local, including the AR+D/ RIBA honorable mention for emerging architects, nominations for the 2011 Mies A rc h i t e c t u re Aw a rd , a n d t h e 2 0 1 0 FA D award. Their projects have been published in magazines such as DOMUS, DETAIL, Architectural Review, ON Diseño and Area.
In 2002, Ar. Ito founded Jun'ichi Ito Architect & Associates. The firm has designed various scales and types of residence and urban design. He has avoided formalistic preconceptions in his designs. He believes that buildings should be responsible citizens and that the aesthetic qualities of a building should grow from the specific characteristics of each project such as its location, its construction technology, and its purpose. In search of the most appropriate response to each project, his designs have covered a wide range of solutions and materials. The Japan Institute of Architects selected Ar. Jun Ito as one of the contemporary Japanese architect representing the JIA.
Founded in 1991, FARO has developed broad experience in designing complex residential projects, office buildings and schools. FARO also has a separate studio for research and (urban) planning, specializing in the relationship between allotment and building type. In this light they have completed many studies for building types for specific living environments. FARO works for municipalities, housing corporations, schools and developers. Their projects vary from building on a noise polluted site next to the freeway, to a second life for post-war garden cities, compact and dense low-rise projects, inner city infill projects, new developments and projects for rural areas. FARO always provides a tailor made solution for any living / work environment and planning project.
THG Architects specialized in building design, project planning, management and supervision. Their list of project is vast and diverse; Office buildings, shopping centers, hotels, industrial buildings, flats, houses, airports, sporting facilities, dwellings for the elderly and renovation. They have also been working within urban planning and environmental evaluations. They strive for a positive relationship between architects, engineers, project managers and clients to ensure the best possible outcome of the project. THG Architects has 20 employees who all contribute to the broad skill base within the office, with particular attention to the areas of design, organization, management and supervision. THG Architects was founded in October 1994 by Halldór Guðmundsson– Architect. THG Architects has offices in Reykjavik, Reykjanesbaer and Copenhagen.
Kauffmann Theilig & Partner The office Kauffmann Theilig was founded in 1988 by Andreas Theilig and Dieter Ben Kauffmann. Later on Rainer Lenz (from 1995) and Manfred Ehrle (1998-2005) became partners. Kauffmann Theilig & Partner and since 2001 KTP Generalplaner GmbH plans and realizes projects worldwide in the entire field of building and exhibition design. The office cares for intensive collaboration with other planning and engineering offices such as structural design, technical equipment, acoustics, lighting, thermodynamics as well as communication, graphic design and event technology etc. The design and development of concepts are always based on the specific needs of a site which considers the complexity of all aspects and creates additionally powerful and significant solutions.

Brigitte Philippon and Jean Kalt Brigitte Philippon and Jean Kalt, the two partners at the head of an agency of ten people, understand how to tackle each and every field of activity in their profession in order to enrich and enhance their approach: architecture, urban planning, sustainable development, design, events management (artistic production), multimedia (sound and visual creations). Whether it is a new construction or renovation, the users of the space are at the very heart of the agency’s concerns: links, routes, uses dictate their thoughts. Fougeron Architecture is a nationally recognized design firm whose work exhibits a strong commitment to clarity of thought, design integrity and quality of architectural detail. The firm’s decidedly modernist attitude is the result of founder Anne Fougeron’s vision to create a practice dedicated to finding the perfect alignment between architectural idea and built form. Ms. Fougeron’s keen interest in crossing disciplinary boundaries has led the firm to develop a collaborative creative process that capitalizes on her relationships with craftsmen and artists who are experts in their fields. Contrary to most traditional practices, the firm does not separate between the design and production parts of the work process; preferring to believe that the process of design and innovation must continue through all phases of design and construction.
