HDFFA PROGRAM GROW & GIVE
Grow & Give is a fresh food donation program providing donated fresh produce to NeighborImpact food bank.
May - October, HDFFA and volunteers collect produce from farmers, farmer’s market patrons and gardeners for distribution through NeighborImpact food bank. We host booths at regional farmers markets where YOU can donate money or food, and gardeners or farmers can donate excess fruits or vegetables. The majority of the produce is collected in the fall when we coordinate our Harvest Team volunteers to collect excess produce from farmers’ fields.
“HDFFA facilitates donations from local farmers who have generously supported our food bank and partner agencies with seasonal fruit and vegetables that we don’t often receive through regular donation channels. We are very grateful to be able to offer a wider variety of healthy foods through these donations.”
Annually donate 15,000 lbs to NeighborImpact Food Bank 2020 donations provided the equivalent of 9,000 meals for Central Oregonians Since 2014, we’ve collected 73,176 lbs. of fresh, local produce - enough food for 60,000 meals! In 2020, provided 775 Fresh Harvest Kits: ready-to-make meal kits that include fresh produce, pantry staple items, recipes and Savory Spice Shop spices, available at local food pantries In 2020, paid $10,248 to farmers for their food donations
