CONCEPT CATALOGUE 2018 IRELAND

Choose Italian Wine Italian wine is not just knowing how to choose the best moment of the year when to harvest, select one by one the good bunches and discard the bad ones, make a good vinification and use the finest barrels in which to mature the wine. It is something much deeper and more intimate. It is something that captures you, that you are passionate about, that conquers you up to bewitch you. When you drink an Italian wine, you drink all of this. Italian wines are unique in the world for other reasons. First of all for the variety. Do you think that in Italy there are something like 453 types of vineyards: a huge number, which guarantees a practically unlimited diversity between the productions of the various wineries. Another striking feature is that linked to microclimates that directly influence the development and growth of grapes. I’ll explain. Do you think that if, within the same area of belonging to a vine, you

move a few tens of kilometers, the results you get, in the bottle, are profoundly different. Another important factor is the quantity of wine that each winery produces. In fact, in Italy, cellars are very often brought forward by families, with a number of employees that is less than 10 people total. This means that the number of bottles produced is very low, with a consequent increase in the average quality. It is natural that the attention and care that can be devoted to a production of 1,000 bottles is infinitely superior to that which is put into the production of 100,000 pieces. Italy is full of small producers, real wine artisans, who take care of the collection and production processes in a maniacal way. Remember therefore: Italian wine means varied and superfine flavors and great experience and expertise of producers. Translated into two words: Absolute Quality!

THE BEST ITALIAN WINE SELECTION FOR THE IRISH MARKET Thirty-six of the best Italian wineries were chosen by the High Levels to be distributed in Irish territory. Quality and refined wines are included in the catalog, coming from all the regions of Italy. A gustatory explosion for the most sought-after palates. We jealously guard the initial learnings handed down from the first master winemaker, Luigi Arione. Our wine production is held in two separate facilities in familyowned sites at Canelli (Asti) and Castiglione Tinella (Cuneo), which is also home to our warehouse and storage. Thanks to advanced manufacturing processes, the processing of the grapes is done through innovative methods, to ensure a highly qualified and certified process, while always respecting the wine traditions of Piedmont, in order not to lose the characteristics of the wines of this important territory. Each step of production process, from the tanks, to barrels, and to bottles, is thoroughly checked and certified. The complete production cycle, crushing, fermentation, processing, refining, analysis and quality control, bottling and marketing, takes place in the two facilities at Canelli and Castiglione Tinella.

Az Agr TAMBURELLO

Its scent features fresh grass and tomato-like feelings while, once tasted, perceptions of sweet almond..

AZ IL COLLE

The name Il Colle is the brand’s primary indicator, suggesting the main feature of the land where Prosecco comes from. It takes us into the world of the estate, its system of values and its environment. The gentle curvature of the name evokes the rolling landscape that embraces the land of wine. The delicate shadow line around Il Colle conveys a feeling of protection and safety, giving the elements just the right amount of space, balance, spontaneity and expression. The significance of the name is reflected in the graphic rendering of the glass. It embodies the deep harmony between persons, culture and land, identifying the consistent and founding values of the estate. A symbol in itself of hospitality, it also encompasses a domain of defined and unassailable meanings. It’s possible to see beyond the conventional from an elevated viewpoint. A vision close to the heart, where the foundations of the wine estate lie: tradition, history, family. It is a vision which looks ahead, with new perspectives: innovation, environment and sustainability.

BROGLIA

Collaboration with the University of Turin brought some new clones to the vineyard, whilst with a University in Milan, and in particular with professor Attilio Scienza, has seen a study conducted to discover the forerunner in wine cellar on the creation of white wines without the addition of sulphurous anhydride. The new wine cellar was built in 1983, the project architect Luigi Vietti. In the same year, to enhance the characteristics of mineralitĂ and sapiditĂ of the Gavi, the exclusive use stainless steel tanks began. At the end of the nineteen nineties, cellar space was further increased to meet the new requests for Gavi both on the National and International markets. Today the wine cellar is divided into the different activities in the agricultural life of the company: the harvest area, the winemaking area, the area of refining in steel and in bottle and for the production of the sparkling classical method of production.

CANONICA A CERRETO

Canonica a Cerreto lies in the heart of the Chianti hills, 12 km east of Siena. The property’s 60 hectares include 21 hectares of vineyard and 7 of olive groves; the rest of the land is woods. Chianti wine and olive oil have been produced here for centuries. Today there is a bed and breakfast where the monks used to reside. Canonica a Cerreto produces 150,000 bottles per year. Chianti Classico both Regular and Reserve accounts for 80% of the production. The balance is a Tuscan IGT called “Sandiavolo”. The regular Chianti Classico is made up of 90% Sangiovese grapes and 10% Merlot; the Chianti Classico Riserva is 85% Sangiovese, 10% Cabernet Sauvignon, and 5% Merlot. The Sandiavolo is a blend in equal parts of all three grapes. Naturally, Sangiovese is our mainstay variety. However, Cabernet Sauvignon and Merlot are very well suited to the terroir of Canonica a Cerreto, allowing them to express character in ways which are not very common for these ubiquitous international varieties. In other words, our Cabernet and Merlot are wonderfully complementary to our Sangiovese, contributing to the structure and balance of our wines, which remain typical of our terroir while at the same time satisfying the changing tastes of consumers.

CANTINA BASTIANELLI

“Cantina Bastianelli is a family run company where the passion for wine has its roots in a history of tradition and love for the land: the same passion that united my grandparents and now is joining me and my father Egidio. A wine like a poetry, which arises from the indissoluble union between the territory and the charisma of those who work on it. We are border winemakers. Our company is located on the border between the provinces of Fermo and Macerata, two different provinces but also two different territories, each of them instilling different organoleptic characteristics to our vineyards. Its small size allows the company to implement a policy of research of a high quality product. The goal is to improve the organoleptic characteristics through a mix of traditional instruments and advanced technologies that ensure maximum respect for the product typicality. Today, the company is projecting into the future, investing in development and research of new technologies which could help us to make work in the vinery easier, always keeping an eye at our past and our identity.

CASCINA FONDA

Vocation for the territory and the wine-growing since 1963, year in which Secondino Barbero founded the company exploiting his experience in the oenological field. The challenge was won thanks to his sons Massimo and Marco, who have bottled their wine since 1988;they initially focused on Moscato d’Asti and since 1991 they have processed all of their grape varieties. Finally, the passion is for the sweet taste of Moscato, which is produced by the Barbero brothers in the sweet and dry versions Moscato d’Asti and Asti Spumante (since 1991). This “sweet passion” encouraged Cascina Fonda to focus especially on Moscato, a wine produced on the hills between Mango and Neive, symbol of a land that gives unique fruits. The Barbero Brothers also produce other wines: Dolcetto, Barbaresco and Brachetto. Their products are marketed in Italy, in the United States, in Holland, Germany, Switzerland, Denmark, Sweden and France. From 1995 to 2000 the new cellar was developed according logistic and modern principles, to support the processing of Moscato, a young and fresh wine. Massimo and Marco Barbero continue to work to maintain the quality that characterized all the wines produced by Cascina Fonda.

I CARPINI

The Tortonesi Hills (hills of Tortona) are absolutely breathtaking for its splendid and dynamic landscape. As you admire the view, you can find cultivated fields, hilly orchards, vineyards and feel the cool breeze smelling of oak and chestnut from the nearby woods. From the hilltops you can enjoy the stunning panorama spanning from Monviso to the Ligurian Sea. Located at a very special crossroads of four different regions: Piedmont, Lombardy, Emilia Romagna and Liguria, the Tortonesi Hills have historically been a trading center and therefore has been heavily influenced by different regions and cultures. The climate also plays a big role with its cold winters, sparse rainfall throughout the year and significant temperature changes between day and night during the ripening phase. This naturally gives the wine fruity, elegant, and delicate aromas. Cascina I Carpini’s vineyards in Pozzol Groppo, extend into the submunicipality of San Lorenzo which have an important South-Eastern exposure where roots dig deep into the medium-textured,cool, and well-drained soil. Even the water-bearing stratum a few meters underneath, maintains proper water supply as well as creating a unique microclimate.

COLMELLO DI GROTTA

“In the small barrel you’ll find the best wine”. Wine makers used to put their higher level wine into small barrels to save it for important occasions. Although relatively small, perhaps more than any other, Friuli is a region where various elements are mixed together: mountains, hills, flat land and sea shores . Behind its calm, almost static appearance, the region’s history dates back to ancient times, with signs of all the various cultures that have reigned over the years: Romans, Barbarians, Slavs, Venetians, Austrians. People coming from all directions, a crossroad between East, North and West. Antique wine-making traditions have always been a sure sign of civilization. The Giulia Alpine foothills protect the area from the cold north winds and the closeness of the sea brings a mild, temperate climate, which is ideal for grapewines. The Estate spreads over an area of 21 hectares, 15 used for the vines; all facing south with heights that varies between 40 and 80 meters above sea level. The grapevines are equally divided between DOP Collio and Isonzo appellations, which, though they lie close are made of completely different soils. This dual personality is perhaps the main feature of the company, as they produce two completely different types of wine which perfectly complement each other.

COLVENDRA’

COLVENDRĂ€ dates back its set up to the early 1900 and has its own origins in the age-old wine custom of our land. In 1924 Mr. Leonardo Della Colletta, developing and promoting an ancient family tradition, started a productive route in the heart of the Veneto region, in Conegliano and Valdobbiadene areas, where lush vineyards meet sunny hills and the work of man turns a fruitful tradition into life-style

CORTE AURA

Corteaura Franciacorta was established in 2009 by Federico Fossati. Raised in Veneto he wanted to fulfil an oenological dream: to produce a top quality wine in a territory with a natural vocation for grape growing. After meticulous research across all wine producing areas of Italy, he recognised the Franciacorta region as the one that, above all others, would ensure his wines would have a rich and varied range of undertones. Of the various opportunities available in the region, he opted for Adro and its centuries-old tradition. He undertook scrupulous restoration work on an old rural building transforming it into a winery, while maintaining full respect for the local territory and surrounding vineyards. The first production was made possible thanks to a fortuitous meeting with Pierangelo Bonomi and his extensive winemaking experience in the Franciacorta area. Today Corteaura produces 100,000 bottles and cultivates 6 hectares of vineyards, the majority of which privately owned, purchasing grapes across the entire Franciacorta region ensuring its wines the widest range of fragrances and aromas.

CORTE CANELLA

There are no right or wrong choices, but only coherent ones. Corte Canella lives by this conviction. As a matter of fact, advanced technology materials were chosen from the very beginning, allowing safe and proper processes and a suitable withering system. Good wine can only be obtained with guaranteed and genuine grapes, qualities achieved through accurate work in the vineyards. Corte Canella has a vinification, crushing and pressing area on the ground floor. Part of the basement is used for bottle aging and selling the wine, while the rest is dedicated to the aging in barrels, both American and French, depending on the needs. Customers are the main contributors to Corte Canella, since they are the image of the market and well informed judges of the product quality. Corte Canella vineyards are equally divided between Soave (for the production of white grapes) and Valpolicella (for the red grapes). Plants of a certain age (50-60 years) of both types of vines are grown on the Veronese Pergola system, whereas the other vineyards, replanted since 2000, are cultivated with the Guyot system.

DARIO COOS

We produce important wines from local and historical varieties, using production and winemaking methods based on tradition, but that sometimes fall outside of it in order to create something unique. This is how our Refosco is born, which is different from the classic one because it is made with dried grapes. Although we adopt a conventional approach to viticulture, our attention to the environment and to our territory is profound: that’s why we handle the weeds with mechanical methods, which allow us to eliminate herbicides and chemical sprays completely.

DELIELLA

The Deliella farm of Rosalia Di Caro, knows a long history which started in 1566 when It became part of the ancient large landed estate “Deliella in the county of Caltanissetta, Sicily. It is located on 420 m.a.s.l. in a hilly landscape and it is characterized by large olive groves, vineyards, orchards and grain fields. The Deliella farm is very well-known for the high quality of its organic products. The farm has been run by the family Di Caro for four generations. Ten years ago the present owner Rosalia Di Caro started transforming the production applying organic cultivation methods to, not only offer products without chemical residues, but also for respect of nature and the environment. She started with the olives, then grain, grapes and fruit followed and today all products of the Deliella farm are organic products of high quality and certified by the Italian Ministry of Agriculture. The organic cultivation methods, the Sicilian climate, its rich soil and the care and passion of the owner makes the quality of Deliella’s products unique. Product range: organic Red and White wines, organic Extra Virgin Olive Oil, organic Jam and Marmalade, organic Pasta, organic Sauces, Pestos, dried Herbs and organic Almonds.

FATTORIA CLEMENTIN

The art of the wine, the culture of the earth “Fattoria Clementin is at Terzo di Aquileia, in the province of Udine, a small area of Friuli where the tradition of wine growing is more tha thousand years old. The lowlands of Friuli bear a soil that is eminently suitable for wine growning and is tilled following age-old peasant customs and practises. The resulting wines are particulary delightful and fragrant. They are producet using organic equipment and traditional wine-making methods that enhance their quality. A great room with hearth, which is typical of the Country Resorts and here is adjacent to the Country Resorts and here is adjacent to the cellar; the possibility of sampling the wines and grappe; a small but very well-equipped laboratory where training courses in pork butchery are held: these, together with traditional farmer hospitality, are the main attractions of Fattoria Clementin. Healthy, certified products are the outcome of the high standards of our labour, which is managed by a family business. Our goals are to protect the traditions and distinctive characteristics of our produce, to encourage a balanced development of this wonderful land, and to improve the quality of life, culture and the environment.

FATTORIA DI MAGLIANO

Fattoria di Magliano is a young wine-making company spanning over 97 hectares in the heart of the Maremma territory. It was founded in 1997 by Agostino Lenci, who, after a long and successful career in the footwear industry, decided to follow his dream of becoming a winemaker. He chose this part of Tuscany because of the century-old tradition that rules this land, where men seek to preserve the environment of a territory both wilder and more reserved than elsewhere. The company’s first wines were marketed in 2003. Sangiovese and Vermentino, grape varieties typically found in this area, account for nearly 80% of our production. The company’s young age has given us the opportunity to experiment with other varietals our agronomists suggested could thrive in the area, namely Syrah and Cabernet Franc. Our newest additions is the Ansonica, a white grape particularly suited for the coastal area of Mount Argentario and the Tuscan archipelago.

FATTORIA SANTO STEFANO

Fattoria Santo Stefano is a small rustic hamlet, immersed in the Tuscan countryside in the heart of the Chianti Classico area, one of the world’s most famous wine regions. Located on a hilltop, just a stone’s throw away from the picturesque village of Greve in Chianti, Fattoria Santo Stefano is both a holiday farmhouse and a working farm that produces DOCG wine and extra virgin olive oil. It is a magical place, where you can admire stunning views and discover the best kept secrets of Tuscany’s culinary tradition. At Fattoria Santo Stefano you can stay in a magnificent villa, which can accommodate up to 14 people, or book one of the 8 farmhouses with 2 to 7 beds. All of them have been renovated with simple, elegant furniture, preserving the authentic spirit of the past. With the green backdrop of the vineyards, olive groves, and woods it is the ideal setting to chill out and read a book under the shade of the lime trees, to stroll around and discover the history of the surroundings, to take a dip in the gorgeous garden swimming pool, or to take part in our organised activities. Fattoria Santo Stefano has 16 hectares of vineyards and 20 hectares of olive trees, with an annual production of 600 hectolitres of Chianti Classico wine and 30 quintals of Extra Virgin Olive Oil. Whether you are a guest at the farm or simply a tourist travelling in the area, you can always take part in our activities.

VINI GATTI

The wine farm lies on Moncucco hill, a zone that has been regarded for many years for Moscato wine production. The farm was founded in 1988 by Piero Gatti, a man who loved his work and was very attached to the land and its tradition. Today it is still managed by his family and they continue to produce wines of excellent quality. This is the result of careful selection of the grapes and precise wine-making in the cellar. The main product is Moscato, a sweet and sparkling wine, characterized by a fine and penetrating perfume and a fresh, engaging taste; it accompanies well all kinds of desserts except those which are chocolate based. For dishes based on fruit, you mustn’t miss Brachetto, a light purple wine characterized by a nose of roses and geranium. As well as these two sweet wines there is also a small production of red wines: the “Violetta”, a Freisa that is a very typical grape of the area with highly developed tannins, to be drunk with cheese and salami, and the “Verbeia”, a blend of Freisa (20%) and Barbera (80%), to accompany meat.

GRIGNANO

A product of excellence has always been a primary goal for the Grignano estate and all of its staff that over the years has continued to invest in research and development to refine and improve the production of the estates’ wines and oils. With a tradition rooted in within the region we continually strive to present at both national and international level the results of our work. Feel free to stop by for a taste of tradition, culture and cutting edge technology that has always made us very proud. Specializing in the production of Chianti Rufina, the Farm Grignano tip of tradition and culture linked to the territory, combined with the most advanced technology to look to the vast world of food and wine.

LA FUSINA

Dogliani, capital of the south-western Langhe, lies in a natural hollow surrounded by hills covered with vineyards. The culture of wine is well rooted thanks to centuries of rural tradition and to the everyday contact with vineyards and cellars. The farmhouse is the heart of life: if there are a lot of reasons and a lot of ways to approach the wine, one of these can be knowing at close the way of making wine still used in the country, that is to know and taste the wines La Fusina. As far back as 1792, testified by an old map found in the farm’s loft, the farm La Fusina was partly cultivated with vineyards in the lands facing the sun and with grassland and wheat in the valley bottom. The actual owners, Luigi Abbona and his family, have been living in La Fusina since 1914 and from the beginning the work in the vinerows and the making of wines have been the main activities: 18 out of the 20 hectares of the farm are in fact grown on vineyards. The hamlet Santa Lucia, where is situated La Fusina, is one of the most charming places of the Doglianese territory. The amenity and peacefulness of the country, the land particularly suitable to the vine, the favourable exposures of the vineyards, the careful work in the cellar are all elements contributing to the production of high quality wines, very versatile and and of marked personality, ready to amaze also the most exigent palates.

LA PALAZZETTA

La Palazzetta one can breath an air of pure beauty and genuine simplicity that make you feel at Home. Memories come back from the times of the carriages when the greatgrandfathers in Castelnuovo dell’Abate were farmers cultivating grains. Flavio and Carla began making wine in 1988 with just one hectare of Sangiovese. Nowadays their children Luca and Tea continue the story that for generations honors the respect and the love for the land. Located at 365 m a.s.l. on the South-East side of Montalcino, La Palazzetta with 20 hectares of vineyards and 2500 olive trees dominates the magnificent view of the Abbey of Sant’Antimo. The production of Rosso di Montalcino DOC, Brunello di Montalcino DOCG, Sant’Antimo Rosso DOC and extra-virgin olive oil increase the value of the local area and preserve what comes every year from Nature. Not extremely cold winters, hot summers, rainy and humid springtimes and autumns create in these limestone and rocky lands very fragrant wines with intense colors and pleasant acidity and tannins. The natural principles of cultivation and production will receive the organic certification starting with the harvest of 2018.

LEVII

Passion, love, engagement. The passion for nature, the love of the countryside and the engagement have been the driving impulse for the young Cesare Berasi to found the first sparkling wine production in the Giudicarie: the Maison LEVII Cesare was born into a farming family. His maternal grandfather every morning supplied the inhabitants of Tione in Trento with fresh milk, while his paternal family dedicated themselves to animal breeding and fruit growing. The starting point was his father and uncles decision to revive some ground, which had already served as wine growing soils but which due to an outflow of refugees had laid unemployed. Thus began the cultivation of a modern and functional vineyard. During his education at secondary school Cesare spent much of his free time in the vineyard; afterwards during his studies at universitiy his dream of his own winery grew continually. Over the years he understood that the sun-ripened grapes deriving from such a territory can be processed only into a product of the highest quality and that`s reflected in the excellence of the sparkling wine Metodo Classico LEVII. In the year 2012 Cesare bought his family’s vineyards and began the sparkling wine production with the foundation of the Maison LEVII with the intention to present the outstanding quality of the LEVII sparkling wines to the world.

MAZZEI

Since more than six hundred years, the Mazzei family produces unique wines with spirit and passion renewed from generation to generation. At Fonterutoli, as well as at Belguardo and Zisola, resides the same philosophy that aims to promote local vine varieties as an expression of the identity of the region, in respect of diversity and nature, via sustainable agriculture and improvements mindful of the delicate hydro-geologic balance, in order to prevent soil erosion and maximize water reserves in the region. All of this in order to be able to hand the land intact to future generations.

ODONI

Cantina Odoni was founded in 2009 as the last part of a path created in 1980 and handed down from father to son by generations of farmers, simple folk, who with sacrifice and love for our land find themselves, in this day and age, modernised but still with the genuineness of the past. Vineyards and history Cantina Odoni is located on the Trieste Karst, with its vineyards reaching the nearby Slovene Istria where it’s roots are buried. Territories rich in history, art, but above all characterized by soils and climates that allow us to create a unique product that only our land can give. PANIZZARI WINE

The Panizzari agricultural firm starts at the end of the 19th century, from the love that grandfather Angelo had for the wine that the old farmer tradition has been able to pass on from generation to generation. As years passed my father Giovanni Battista and later I, have reinforced our production with a qualified survey and development of our vineyards following strict methods of production that determine the high quality of our product. Since then and even now our relationship with clients has always been direct. This has permitted us to satisfy their needs and better our wine. The varieties we grow are mainly those of our tradition of wine-growing areas, especially for the red grapes. In contrast to the wine world, our company prefers to keep its historical roots. In fact, most production (about 65%) is given from the vineyards of Barbera and Uva Rara Croatina, are eligible to become members of “San Colombano DOC Rosso. For the white grapes most products are covered by the vine Verdea, a native type vinified only in St. Columban; other grapes grown in our vineyards are red, Pinot Noir and a little Cabernet, while white grapes Malvasia di Candia, Riesling and Chardonnay. All the grapes are vinified in that we produce at our own company . The collection starts from early grapes : the first of all is the Chardonnay , a white grape variety that matures roughly between the middle and the end of August.

This generous earth is crossed by the 45th parallel, known as the “wine parallel” as it also crosses territories of well-known quality such as nearby Piemonte, Bordeaux, Oregon and the Caucasian region where the cultivation of the vine originated and was thence diffused. Firm in the belief that the composition of the soil influences the content of the grapes that grow on it, and nurtured by our great passion, we have created our “Pinot Noir”,our Merlot “L’Altra Metà del Cuore” (“The Other Half of the Heart”), “Il Bianco” and our Blanc de Noir “Io per Te” (“Me for You”) which crowns Prime Alture’s exclusive production. Immersed in our vineyards we have built a fascinating accomodation building which offers 6 charming suites for an unforgettable and refined stay. Tasting wines and high quality food, the panoramic barn dedicated to catering and events, the woodland for an intimate perception of nature are the basis of our daily activity.

PUNTO ZERO

In a land of beauty and nature. In 1994 came the decision to purchase an estate in the green Colli Berici hills, in a paradise of meadows, woods and fields of golden cereal crops. A long-standing dream came true. An encounter with a land of beauty and of enormous potential. An encounter with amazing people who have preserved this land for generations, and who are now working to look after it and its vineyards. The de’Besi family has devoted its passion and business spirit to wine. It has not always been a family of winegrowers, but wine and the land have entered entirely into its everyday life, shaping its decisions and its destiny. PuntoZero stretches across the Colli Berici, in the hilly stretch to the south-west, which gently slopes down towards Lonigo. The estate covers 45 hectares, of which 10 are under vine. Some vineyards date back to 1965, while others were replanted after the land was purchased by our family in 1994, with the knowledge that investing properly in vineyards is the only way to ensure the quality of the end product.

ROMANO WINERY

The Romano Winery was founded in the mid-1980s by the entrepreneurial desire of the Romano family, who had been making wine for generations. The family history dates back to at least two centuries ago. The first official documents is from 1890, when the formal proclamation of the first vineyards was made. Everything started when future spouses Francesca and Lorenzo Romano received as a wedding present from Lorenzo’s father Angelo, a large amount of money and a modest vineyard located near Borgetto, in the province of Palermo. Francesca and Lorenzo started a wine-making business which continues to flourish to this day, thanks to the innovative plant of C.da Ramotta and the vineyards of C.da Cambuca, territory of the DOC Alcamo and Monreale vineyards. The current members of the family include Angelo Romano, who grew up with the scent of vineyards, who has a degree in Agrarian Sciences from the Faculty of Agriculture of the University of Palermo and a Master in Oenology from the Catholic University of the Sacred Heart of Piacenza, his mother Giuseppina, his wife Giusy, a Foreign Language and Literature graduate, specialised in Public Relations, his son Renato, who studies Economics and his daughter Gaia who studies International Law. The history of the Romano family is embellished by the start of the renovation works of the historic vineyards and the realization of a modern oenological plant in C.da Ramotta, in order to replace the one located in the city centre of Borgetto.

RONCA

The history of the Ronca winery is not the traditional story of land handed down from father to son for generations, but it is nevertheless linked to what it takes to grow vines: the land. In 1946 the founder of the family, Ulderico Ronca, left to his wife and children a plot of land in the province of Verona. Ten years later, Walter Ronca and his brothers sold this plot of land to obtain the necessary funds to start an industrial activity that developed and flourished over time. In 1976, when they returned from industrial investments, the Ronca brothers decided to buy land in another area of the province of Verona, in Sommacampagna, where the winery stands today. They dedicated the newly established farm to their father, who with this entrusted land made the start of their business possible. The Nonno Ulderico farm was born, which produced both grapes and fruit. In 2000, Massimo (Walter’s son) who had worked in the family business before, discovered his love for the countryside, for the outdoors and a life closer to the rhythms of nature. He had ambitious projects for the farm. He took over the company from his uncles and with his father, Walter, dedicated himself to the organization of the company according to the most modern viticulture. The 2006 vintage was the first time we saw the Ronca brand on the market making all the sacrifices worth it. All started from a piece of land.

STOMENNANO

The tiny village (borgo) of Stomennano was built on ancient Etruscan and Roman ruins that are visible to this day, and it is indeed as a Roman outpost that it first appears in written records dating back to 1059. The name Stomennano may be of Etruscan origin, but it most probably derives from the latin “strumentum” of “pacis” after peace treaties stipulated between the local population and the Romans invasors. Around 1100 the Sienese made agreements to acquire the control of Strove, Castiglion Ghinibaldi, Stomennano and Staggia, and in 1164 Ubaldino and Ugolino Soarzi gave their lands between Poggibonsi and Siena to Siena itself. This transfer of property included Stomennano and its farmlands then crossed by the Via Francigena, an important road connecting the pilgrims from Paris to the Pope in Rome.

TORRE QUARTO

Torre Quarto winery was built by the French Dukes de la Rochefoucauld, in 1847. They had large estates in southern Italy, and the one in Cerignola was their greatest one. It covered an area of about 5000 hectares of which 3000 were vineyards. That’s why they built their winery in the area surrounding Cerignola. It was called “Quarto Ducale” (that means “duke quarter”), because the estates was a quarter of the Cerignola district. Here the Dukes de la Rochefoucauld produced red wine that they sent to France, where it was used for blending and bottled to be sold as French wine. They had a private railway line to link their winery to the nearest railway station, to send their wine to France regularty. The wine was aged in French oak casks, over 150 of these huge casks (containing each about 290 hl) are still kept the cellars of Torre Quarto. In the 1930s the Belgian family Solvay Bautier became owner of this winery and renamed it “Torre Quarto”, after the tower which part of the building, which was one, a schnapps distillery. Torre Quarto began marketing and selling the wine in Italy and all over the world and doing so, were among the first wine producers to dissolve the belief that wines from Puglia were used for blending wine only. Passing the time the name “Torre Quarto” became synonym of quality; in fact it was receveid a lot of rewards, medals and certificates for its excellence and it is also know as one of the most famous wines from Puglia. Nowadays the still owner of the winery, attorney Angela Tarantino, thanks to family tradition producing excellent quality wines.

VIGNA BELVEDERE

We have always treated our vineyards with great passion and love, to protect the health of the vines and to produce high quality grapes and wines with a strong personality. Our vineyards cover about 20 hectares planted with varieties of Pinot Gris, Chardonnay, Cabernet Sauvignon, Refocus and Merlot. Among these stand out 8 hectares of vigorous rows of Glera grapes (the original variety used for the Prosecco). This solid reality and the good balance achieved in our vineyard, have led the company to resume the wine production, interrupted at the end of the 80s, and to produce a Prosecco DOC Extra Dry with fresh aromas and fine perlage, a well-balanced Prosecco DOC Brut with a pleasant aftertaste of citrus fruits and almonds and a Prosecco Millesimato 2017 with a strong personality.
