by Rick Rogers
Get ready and mark your calendars for Tuesday, January 28th. It will be a festive night as we gather at the Linn County Fair and Expo Center in Albany for our annual Points for Profit awards banquet. Last year we handed out over 36 thousand dollars in awards to our nearly 30 participating mid-valley nonprofit organizations. The non-profits earned the awards by turning in receipts from our participating business members and points earned by attending our sponsored meetings, our business “on-locations” and other functions. On receipts turned in alone, the Points for Profit program was responsible for over 6-million dollars kept in the local mid-valley economy. This years event will again highlight how businesses and non-profits can partner together for each others benefit. The dinner will consist of delicious prime rib with all the trimmings prepared by Debbie Burks and her crew at Jacopetti’s Catering. Then comes deserts with each table bidding on any number of luscious deserts prepared by the mid-valley best cooks, restaurants and caterers. There will also be a silent auction of dozens of items, trips and gift certificates provided by local businesses and services. All money raised by the auctions stays in the Points for Profit program to benefit the non-profits. Awards will also be handed out for small home business of the year as well as medium and large business of the year. Special awards will be given to volunteers of the year. Those planning on attending and having dinner must make their reservations no later than January 17th. Because of meals having to be planned in advance, there will not be extra plates available on the night of the banquet. Call in your reservations now at 541-791-2901and receive an extra 5-million points to get your new year started right. On behalf of all of us at Points for Profit and High Points...HAPPY NEW YEAR!

If you love good food but don’t want to break the bank, Corvallis Culinary Week is the perfect time to sample cuisine from some of the mid-valley’s best chefs. Corvallis Culinary Week, a celebration of Willamette Valley food and wine, is held every January when the winter is cold and grey. This year’s festival is planned for Jan. 19-25. It’s a great way to chase away winter’s chill with tasty food, said Mary Pat Parker, executive director of Visit Corvallis.” “I love Corvallis Culinary Week because it really focuses on our local restaurants working with surrounding farms for local ingredients,” Parker said. Now in its sixth year, Culinary Week gives visitors a chance to purchase $10 sample plates at a number of Corvallis’ locally-owned restaurants. Among this year’s participating restaurants are Cloud & Kelly’s, which features hearty Irish pub food with a Northwest flair; Magenta, where you can taste creative Asian fusion cuisine; del Alma, a restaurant featuring the flavors of Latin America, the Caribbean, and Spain; Big River, a downtown favorite featuring local ingredients, known for its fresh-baked breads and extensive dessert menu; Luc’s, a small, eclectic restaurant focused on upscale food and wine; and Fireworks Restaurant, known for its commitment to local foods and signature wood-fired pizzas. During Corvallis Culinary Week, several of the restaurants will feature locally-produced wines from one of 16 mid-valley wineries that make up the Heart of Willamette Wineries. The wines are specially selected and paired with their small plates (wine price not included in $10 sample plate). No tickets are required to attend Corvallis Culinary Week; simply visit the restaurant of your choice all week long and ask for the Culinary Week menu. For more information about Corvallis Culinary Week, go to: www.CorvallisCulinaryWeek.com; to make reservations guaranteeing a table during this popular event, contact your favorite participating restaurant directly.

What is Chiropractic Good For?
NEWS FLASH: Soda is bad for you! I know it’s not much of a revelation really, but as you prepare to come into the New Year, maybe you could try a year without soda and see what happens. In this article, I will lay out some of the potential health and life benefits of taking a 1 year hiatus from one of the most popular, addictive, and dangerous drinks out there. Many of you are going to make a weight-loss resolution for 2014. There is little doubt that soda contributes more to obesity and overweight than any other beverage out there. The sugar content of one can of soda is higher than cotton candy. These extra calories cause your metabolism to malfunction, making your body become resistant to insulin, the hormone that helps regulate blood sugar. When you have dysfunctional metabolism, you start packing on weight that is difficult to remove. “Diet” sodas are no better. A 2013 literature review revealed that artificial sweeteners may weaken the body’s hormonal response to food damaging your metabolism. Speaking of artificial sweeteners,
there are some common side effects that are noted with their use. According to the FDA and over 900 studies on the hazards of aspartame, the most common artificial sweetener, the side effects include Dr. Jason headaches, mood Young swings, changes in vision, convulsions/ seizures, sleep problems/insomnia, change in heart rate, hallucination, abdominal cramps/ pain, memory loss, rash, nausea and vomiting, fatigue and weakness, dizziness, diarrhea, hives, and joint pain. Some may try to trick you into thinking that these sweeteners are natural since they contain substances that occur commonly in the body and in food such as phenylalanine, aspartic acid, and methanol. However, the proportions and chemical forms of these substances are far higher in aspartame than other foods causing a flood of neurotransmitters that will mess with the physiology of your brain. Methanol is a problem since the safe consumption of this substance (according to the EPA) is 7.8 mg/ day, which is about what you get in Soda continued on page 15

The Nose Knows!
Earth
We’ve had an unusual weather pattern in the Pacific Northwest this year; very little rain in the fall and a prolonged deep-freeze in early December. The amount of moisture in our environment has been lower than normal and our noses know it! The mucous membranes that line the nasal passage need moisture in order to function properly. Well-hydrated cells in the membrane are plump and fit tightly together. Dehydrated cells shrivel, allowing micro gaps to form between cells. One of the primary jobs of the mucous membrane is to act as a barrier to invading organisms, like the children’s game, “Red Rover.” When the cells of the mucous membrane are healthy, they behave like a Red Rover line comprised of professional football players; they block well. If the cells of the mucous membrane are dehydrated, you are defending against all comers with a line of delicate ballerinas. Healthy mucous membranes are better able to trap and destroy airborne invaders before they can break through your “line” and cause illness. There are two basic ways to restore and maintain moisture in the nasal passages. The first is to hydrate from within by drinking at least 64 ounces of fluid daily. (Please consult your doctor if you are on fluid restriction for other

health-related conditions.) The second way is to improve exterior moisture levels. This can be accomplished by using humidifiers in your home, or, Pamela more directly, by Becker, RpH using nasal products Rice’s designed to improve hydration of the Pharmacy mucous membranes. & Gifts Products of this type are available overA “Pill Box Pharmacy” the-counter and are formulated with normal saline solution. Take care to avoid nasal products that contain decongestants, as they may compound the problem rather than resolve it. Normal saline solution closely resembles your body’s natural fluid and can be used at will to hydrate the nasal passages throughout the day. Normal saline is also available as a gel. This is a very clever formulation; it provides moisture and creates a gel barrier that prevents moisture-loss. Normal saline gel is a great product to use before flying. Airplanes are notorious for their dry, germ-ridden air. Routine application of normal saline gel also brings relief for CPAP users and nose-bleed sufferers. If you need help coping with wintertime colds or flu, the pharmacists at Rice’s Pharmacy are happy to assist you in making the appropriate over-thecounter product selections. Credit Unions: More Idea Accessible Now than Ever
Did you know you are probably qualified to join a local credit union just based on where you live or work? Once upon a time, most, if not all, credit unions had a field of membership restricted to a particular affiliation with a business or group. Those types of credit unions still exist, but increasingly you’ll find community chartered credit unions who welcome in those who live, work, or worship in the county that their charter covers. You can find out membership requirements simply by looking up a particular institution on their website or by making a quick phone call. The best way to find a good place to bank is to ask where your friends or family bank and if they receive good service along with the products they need. Many people choose which financial institution they do their business with based on convenience-location of branches and ATM’s, business hours, etc. Large national banks will always hold advantages over credit unions based on number of branches which are often nationwide. Most credit unions (with a few exceptions) tend to be regional in scope, so they simply don’t have thousands of branches to offer their members. But to compensate for these
perceived competitive disadvantages, your credit union may be on one if not two national networks that offer you national access: shared branching and the CoOp ATM network. Darin Shared Klarr Branching: SELCO Participating Community institutions (again, you can find out if your CU Branch credit union is on this Manager network by calling or visiting their website) allow their members to do transactions in the lobby of other credit unions and vice versa. All that is needed is current photo ID and your account number. Co-Op ATM network: You’ll also be able to use any credit union ATM nationwide without service charges. Credit Unions have an ATM locator feature on their website which will allow you to designate a particular city, state or zip code to find out what ATM locations are available (for either withdrawals and/ or deposits, which will be specified). Now is a great time to explore your banking options. Just because you’ve “always done” your banking somewhere doesn’t mean you still have to if you aren’t receiving good service or are paying fees that you don’t agree with. Don’t be afraid of looking at a smaller, local institution if you like the idea of “shopping local”. You won’t have to sacrifice convenience!

Common Sense Fire Safety By Michelle Johnson SERVCO 541-451-5090
Travel
Never underestimate the importance of attending to the small things, because they can result in very big problems. For instance, do you know the cause of almost 17,000 fires and nearly 50 deaths every year? The National Fire Protection Association says that in many of these cases, it’s lint. Yes, that’s right, lint. The leading factor contributing to ignition of these fires was failure to clean the lint. It builds up in the dryer vents and begins backing up into the dryer causing overheating and eventually igniting. If you are like many busy people today, laundry is done in between many other chores and errands. Some people find themselves putting clothes into the dryer and rushing out the door. Often family pets are left at home without anybody realizing the hidden danger lurking inside of the dryer vent. Don’t leave your family at risk. Have your dryer vent cleaned. If you faithfully clean your lint trap, you may wonder why this is necessary. Cleaning your lint trap every time you do a load of laundry isn’t enough. It is recommended that you have your dryer vent cleaned at least once a year and

Value
more depending on certain factors like whether you have pets or wash a lot of fuzzy blankets and towels. The better a dryer vent blows, the less lint builds up in it. Short vents blow better than long ones. Full size dryers blow better than smaller stack dryers or older dryers. Vents with a lot of turns and elbows blow worse and build up more lint. Not only will cleaning your vent keep your home safe, but you’ll be improving the energy efficiency of your dryer too. You’ve waited too long to clean your dryer vent if you can answer yes to any of these questions: • Does it take longer to dry a load of towels than it used to? • Does the top surface of the dryer get very hot when it is in use? • Are you unaware of the last time your dryer vent was cleaned? • Have you failed to have your dryer vent cleaned previously?
A Color Chart: For Use Before You Decorate
Companions
As an interior designer, there are many tips I give my clients to aid them in making decisions of all kinds about the planning of their homes. I really enjoy walking with people through all of the various decisions that need to be made. I find that one of the hardest decisions that people have to make about their homes is color. Obviously, choosing the right colors for both the inside and the outside of a home can be an overwhelming series of decisions because you do not want to go wrong. I suggest using a color chart to make the decisions easier. A color chart is a great thing because it aids people in seeing colors they like and in being able to distinguish between certain shades from other shades. For example, if a person is sure that they want to decorate a particular room or part of their home in blue but they are not sure what shade of blue is best, a blue color chart can come in quite handy for choosing the best shade. A color chart can also be a great tool when people are trying to find colors that complement each other for rooms or areas of their home. I am a firm believer that color is one of the most vital aspects of a home, both on the inside and on the outside. Color

When your dryer runs at higher than designed temperatures, the life of your dryer decreases. This can also lead to the heating element burning out or a fire could ignite as a result of overworked safety controls. Don’t be one of the statistics. Servco can have your dryer vent cleaned and have you worry free in no time. Call Debbie at (541) 451-5090.

gives identity and character to homes, and therefore I believe that it is important that people take their color decisions seriously. So I always give my clients a variety of color charts and ask them to take a few days to ponder their choices. I love helping people find the perfect color combinations that reflect who they are and help them to accomplish the perfect atmospheres for their home. So, if you are about to buy or build a home or to re-decorate your current home, then I suggest you get to a paint shop and grab some color charts for you to study. Take the time to make decisions about colors before you move forward with other decisions about your home. You will be glad that you decided to use a color chart as a tool. It will make all of your choices much easier. Get the help of an interior designer if you can or talk with friends with a creative eye. Get some opinions from others, but ultimately you be the one to decide about the colors you will choose. Rife’s professional design staff can work with you to select the perfect colors to work with tastes inside and out. Rife’s has great sales and selections, they are likely to have all you could need and if they don’t rumor has it they can order it for you! Call them today at 541-758-2020.

If The Walls Could Talk New Year, New Home Projects
The weather is turning colder and we are spending more time inside. It could be time to consider some new happy home projects. Maybe you’re favorite room could use a facelift? A fresh coat of paint can really brighten a room and raise your spirits on those gloomy winter days. You might try painting your ceiling a nice soft white and adding a warm inviting color to your walls. You could also install some crown molding around the ceiling to cheer things up a bit. Do you have wallpaper that is so stuck that even a boatload of ninja warriors can get it off the walls? Don’t throw in the towel just yet. There is hope so read on. Start by removing the wallpaper that is loose. Then prime the rest of the remaining wallpaper. The primer’s job is to seal the paper from moisture. Sometimes the primer can cause a few bubbles in the paper. That is ok, just carefully cut out any bubbles with a sharp knife and then apply a light coating of drywall

Murder on the Yellow Brick Road Information by Stuart Kaminsky
Although the term “cozy mystery” is relatively recent, mysteries that have a sense of fun to them are as old as the genre itself. Nowadays, virtually every hobby has its own favorite cozy mystery authors, be it knitting, cooking, golf, or what have you. Stuart Kaminsky, writing just before the “cozy” became a standard form of mystery wrote a series of mysteries featuring Toby Peters, a detective in 1940s L.A.. Kaminsky’s mystery plays with two ideas. First, you can’t have a 1940s detective in L.A. without paying homage to the great Raymond Chandler. Kaminsky’s hero is patterned after Chandler’s Philip Marlowe but a little more tongue-in-cheek. The main “cozy” part of the mystery, however, is that the setting and characters are Golden Age Hollywood.

Even for those of us who know very little about the era and who might miss out on some of the more obscure references, we can all enjoy the partt where Clark Gable is questioned at Heart’s Castle! There is nothing surprising in the plot of the book; it serves more as a vehicle for a virtual tour of vintage Hollywood. However, the characters and dialogue are fun enough that you don’t mind if you’ve “seen this one before.”

This is a perfect comfort foodtomato-y, creamy, and full of warming tastes; just right for a cold day. I like to use the pre-diced Abraham brand of prosciutto available in supermarket delis because it’s a bit cheaper and tastes fine. If you can get them, use fresh bay leaves as the difference is huge and they freeze beautifully. I have a small bay tree growing in a pot; it’s ten years old and invaluable to me! Cats Count Program, which offers $25 vouchers for the spaying/neutering of cats for qualifying residents of Linn County. The program is funded by donations that in turn pay veterinarians a reduced fee to perform the surgeries. The program was developed in 2007 to address cat overpopulation issues in Linn County by increasing the number of cats that are spayed or neutered, and has since distributed more than 4,000 vouchers. Additionally, SafeHaven Humane Society ensures that the more than 1,600 animals it adopts out each year are spayed or neutered prior to adoption. The space for this year’s event was donated to SafeHaven by Linn Co Federal Credit Union. SafeHaven Humane Society is a private, not-for-profit organization that has been providing services to Linn County and surrounding communities for nearly 40 years. It grew out of the Linn Humane Society, established by a group of concerned Linn County residents in 1974. SafeHaven Humane Society is located at 33071 Hwy 34 in Albany (just 1/4 mile west of I-5). This month I thought I’d write an article regarding the jerky treat situation. Dogs started getting sick around 2007 after eating chicken and duck jerky originating from China. Over the last six years, approximately 3,600 dogs have been sickened and around 600 dogs have actually died in the United States and Canada after eating tainted jerky. During this time, the U.S. Food and Drug Administration has been trying to figure out the toxic agent causing this illness. Frustratingly, no toxic agent has yet been discovered, despite analyzing hundreds of treats as well as blood, urine, and tissue samples from affected dogs. The good news comes from recent research results! This past September, the Australian Veterinary Journal published the largest study to date regarding Chinese chicken jerky. In the study, they were able to more clearly document specific damage to the kidneys of many affected dogs. Each kidney is made up of hundreds

of thousands of nephrons, which are the kidney’s functional work units. Each nephron is essentially made of a filter and a tube. The filter helps get rid of waste, while retaining important things like blood proteins. The tubes then help the body maintain its balance of electrolytes, blood pH, and reabsorb important stuff that gets through the filters, like blood glucose. Affected dogs have significant damage to the first part of these nephron tubes, known as the proximal renal tubules. This region is where glucose gets reabsorbed from the urine back into the body. This damage accounts for the presence of glucose in the urine of a significant percentage of affected dogs. The presence of glucose in the urine of a non-diabetic animal indicates dysfunction or damage to this part of the kidneys and is referred to as Fanconi syndrome. The study published in Australia helped us to better understand the damage done to the dogs but also failed to demonstrate the toxic agent. In addition to kidney damage,

expected to begin accepting tax returns in January and hold those returns until the IRS systems open on Jan. 31. More details will be available in January. The IRS cautioned Cathy that it will not process Baker, any tax returns before American Jan. 31, so there Bookkeeping is no advantage to and Tax filing on paper before 430 2nd Ave SE the opening date. Albany, OR Taxpayers will receive 541.926.7982 their tax refunds much faster by using e-file or Free File with the direct deposit option. The April 15 tax deadline is set by statute and will remain in place. However, the IRS reminds taxpayers that anyone can request an automatic six-month extension to file their tax return. The request is easily done with Form 4868, which can be filed electronically or on paper. IRS systems, applications and databases must be updated annually to reflect tax law updates, business process changes, and programming updates in time for the start of the filing season. The October closure came during the peak period for preparing IRS systems for the 2014 filing season. Programming, testing, and deployment of more than 50 IRS systems is needed to handle processing of nearly 150 million tax returns. Updating these core systems is a complex, yearround process with the majority of the work beginning in the fall of each year. About 90 percent of IRS operations were closed during the shutdown, with some major work streams closed entirely during this period, putting the IRS nearly three weeks behind its tight timetable for being ready to start the 2014 filing season. There are additional training, programming and testing demands on IRS systems this year in order to provide additional refund fraud and identity theft detection and prevention.

WASHINGTON — The Internal Revenue Service today announced plans to open the 2014 filing season on Jan. 31 and encouraged taxpayers to use e-file or Free File as the fastest way to receive refunds. The new opening date for individuals to file their 2013 tax returns will allow the IRS adequate time to program and test its tax processing systems. The annual process for updating IRS systems saw significant delays in October following the 16-day federal government closure. “Our teams have been working hard throughout the fall to prepare for the upcoming tax season, IRS Acting Commissioner Danny Werfel said. “The late January opening gives us enough time to get things right with our programming, testing and systems validation. It’s a complex process, and our bottom-line goal is to provide a smooth filing and refund process for the nation’s taxpayers. The government closure meant the IRS had to change the original opening date from Jan. 21 to Jan. 31, 2014. The 2014 date is one day later than the 2013 filing season opening, which started on Jan. 30, 2013 following January tax law changes made by Congress on Jan. 1 under the American Taxpayer Relief Act (ATRA). The extensive set of ATRA tax changes affected many 2012 tax returns, which led to the late January opening. The IRS noted that several options are available to help taxpayers prepare for the 2014 tax season and get their refunds as easily as possible. New year-end tax planning information has been added to IRS. gov this week. In addition, many software companies are

Eight Tips to Guide Your Going Search For A New HomeBuys Here are a few tips to follow when looking to purchase a new home. • Research before you start looking. Decide what features you most want in a new home, what neighborhoods you prefer and how much you would be willing to spend each month for housing. • Be realistic. It’s ok to be picky, but don’t be unrealistic with your expectations. There is no such thing as a perfect home. Use your list of priorities as a guide to evaluate each property. • Get your finances in order. Review your credit report and be sure you have enough money to cover your down payment and closing costs. Then, talk to a lender and get prequalified for a mortgage. This will save you the headache later of falling in love with a house you can’t afford. • Don’t as too many people for their opinions. Select one or two people to turn to if you feel you need a second opinion, but be ready to make the final decision on your

own. • Decide your moving timeline. When is your current lease up? Are you allowed to sublet? How tight is the rental market in your area? All of those Jason factors will help you Cadwell, determine when you Cadwell should move. Realty • Think long term. Group Are you looking for a starter home with plans to move up in a few years, or do you hope to stay in this home for a longer period? The decision may dictate what type of home you’ll buy as well as the type of mortgage terms that will best suit you. • Insist on a home inspection. If possible, get a warranty from the seller to cover defects for one year. • Get help from a REALTOR. Hire a real estate professional who specializes in buyer representation. Unlike a listing agent, whose duty is to the seller, a buyer’s representative is working only for you. Buyer’s reps are usually paid out of the seller’s commission payment.

Prep, Plan, and Clean Business Now for Spring Success!
January is a great time to take some time to review notes and/or reflect on how last season’s gardening went, noting what you want to change. Now is the best time for planning so you’ll be ready for growing this season and spending as much time as possible enjoying the fruits of your labor. But for those that NEED to get out and do something, this is the best time to make sure your equipment (lawnmower blade, edger, pruners, shears) are cleaned, oiled, sharpened, etc.
Planning If you haven’t tried it, draw your garden spaces. Do a drawing of the way it is now and one for what changes you’d like to make. From your drawing, you can make a list of what you’ll need to enhance your spaces and budget out your spending. Maintenance • Clean pruners and other small garden tools with rubbing alcohol- this will disinfect them and remove any molds, etc. • Reapply or redistribute mulches that have blown or washed away during
winter. • Place windbreaks to protect sensitive landscape evergreens against cold, drying winds. • Remember not to walk on Word lawns until frost From has melted. This WILCO damages the blades.

Pest Monitoring and Management • Scout cherry trees for signs and symptoms of bacterial canker. If you have to remove infected branches, sterilize tools before each new cut. Burn or send to landfill before bloom. • Use dormant sprays of lime sulfur or copper fungicide on roses for general disease control, or, in your planning, decide to replace susceptible varieties with resistant cultivars in February. • Check for moss in your lawn. If you see a lot, you may want to plan to modify the soil conditions or site to increase drainage or eliminate some shade. • Identify problems before acting. Your local Wilco Farm Store carries many less toxic choices for pest management including insecticidal soaps, horticultural oils, botanical insecticides and organic and synthetic pesticides.

Soda continued from page 4
January 2014 • Page 15
Shopping
½ of a can of diet soda. Most of the methanol in diet soda is metabolized into formaldehyde, the main ingredient in embalming fluid. Yum! Soda is bad for your teeth due to the high acid content. Phosphoric soda in cola and citric acid in citrus-flavored drinks eat away at the enamel of teeth. Sugar feeds acid producing bacteria in your mouth. Diet soda tends to be even more acid that sugar sweetened soda, so it is no safer. The only real problem associated with quitting soda is that there may be some caffeine withdrawal at first. This can lead to some temporary headache, fatigue, dizziness, depressed mood, and irritability. Rarely, people will have flu-like symptoms, nausea/ vomiting, and muscle pain/stiffness. The symptoms are usually worst
within 20-50 hours and last up to 9 days. Some studies have shown that exercise and consuming a nutrient dense diet can help with some of these symptoms. The fact that caffeine can have such a powerful effect on you is all the more reason to limit its use by avoiding sodas. Furthermore, you save money on every trip to a restaurant or grocery store but choosing water over soda. It’s like having a 10% coupon everywhere you go! Kicking the soda habit could make this your happiest and healthiest year yet. If you find that your year off from soda is a success there’s really no problem with keeping it up indefinitely.

Jerky continued from page 12
Cents
most affected dogs exhibit signs of gastrointestinal distress within hours to days of eating tainted jerky treats. These signs may include decreased appetite, energy, vomiting, and diarrhea (sometimes with fresh blood and mucous). Severe cases may develop pancreatitis and extensive GI bleeding known as hemorrhagic gastroenteritis. If these symptoms present after ingestion of jerky treats, especially with the presence of glucose in the urine, then there should be strong suspicion of jerky poisoning. Treats should be saved in a sealable bag. Blood and urine samples must also be saved after tests are run and the case needs to be reported by the attending veterinarian to the FDA. Treatment is supportive and involves hospitalization with intravenous fluids. Since a toxic agent has not been identified, there is not yet a specific treatment or antidote that can be used. The important thing for owners to realize is that their dogs don’t need jerky treats. Many of our clients are also under the impression that all affected treats have been recalled and that the risk is over. This is actually incorrect. Many large retailers are still selling chicken and duck jerky treats manufactured in China. It is legal to
sell these treats without printing the country of origin on the bag. The treats may have been made in China even if the bag doesn’t say so. The justification for the continued sale of Chinese jerky rests on the fact the FDA has so far failed to demonstrate the toxic agent in tainted treats and many large retailers feel that those who purchase jerky do so as informed consumers and therefore, at their own risk. Just this past September a dog was diagnosed with jerky treat poisoning at Ohio State University. For now, most veterinarians are recommending against feeding any commercial jerky treats. As a reassurance to those of you who are reading this, we have not yet had a confirmed case of jerky poisoning at our clinic. This is not a situation where dogs are getting sick at an alarming rate. This is, however, entirely preventable. Simply don’t feed your dog commercial jerky treats. The purpose of this article is to let you know where we are at in our understanding and to inform you that these treats are still being sold. If you have questions, please call us at 541-926-8817. Albany Animal Hospital is here for you as your key resource when it comes to the health and well-being of your best friend.
