Star G Ranches, in an effort to provide useful and valuable services to our customers, will start the Heifer Breeding Option (HBO). This is for customers who wish to have a higher percentage of their newly purchased heifers bred with known AI Sires. The HBO program will assist customers who, for whatever reason, may not be able to AI breed their heifers at home. New owners of these heifers will be communicated with on developing the heifers, getting them bred, and keeping their new owners informed of the prog ress and breeding status of their heifers. The HBO period lasts approximately 90120 days, and for the $500 cost, the new owner is guaranteed a bred heifer, safe in calf, or a 100% credit for the original purchase price of the heifer if we are unable to get her bred. So basically, you are guaranteed a bred heifer (or a credit) for an additional $500 over the cost of the open heifer you purchased.
The HBO is available as an option, at buy ers’ choice on any virgin, registered heifer {at least 13 months of age on sale day} sold through a Star G Ranches sale. Lots that are eligible will be noted in the catalog or online as HBP Eligible. Heifers will remain at Star G Ranches, to be managed and AI bred to a Star G Ranches herd sire of the buyer’s choice. Nick or any member of the Star G team would be happy to make recommendations to the new owner, but the final decision will be left to the new owner.
Heifers will be managed similarly to the virgin heifers at Star G Ranches of the same age.
Star G Ranches pays for the pasture, feed, mineral, normal vaccines, synchronization meds and parasite control as required. Semen costs will also be paid for if the buyer uses a Star G Ranches bull. A quality clean-up bull will be provided after AI is completed at no additional cost.
The cost of this program is an additional $500 over the cost of the heifer. Settle ment of this fee, along with the full pur chase price of the heifer, must be made on day of the sale. Heifers will be moved or remain at the breeding location at no cost to the buyer.
When heifers are palpated safe in calf, they will be considered a breeder with no further guarantees from Star G Ranches or it’s cooperators. Registration papers will be transferred to the new owner when heifers are confirmed pregnant. If the heifer does not palpate pregnant the purchaser will be given, a credit for the purchase price only, which can be used in future Star G Ranches sales and does not include the $500 HBO cost, or the salvage value of the heifer.
It is the buyer’s responsibility to pick up the heifers within 2 weeks of notification of palpation results. The arrangement for trucking from Star G Ranches to the customers ranch is the responsibility of the new owner and not Star G Ranches.
Star G Ranches or it’s cooperators are not responsible for death or any incurred vet expenses on any heifers in the program. We strongly advise the purchaser to pur chase mortality insurance on heifers.
