Luxury Style Issue Welcome This spring, I’ve been proud to work with a selection of my favourite brands in the fields of fashion, beauty, motoring, hospitality, fine dining, entertainment, jewellery and accessories to bring you the inside track on this season’s most luxurious new launches. Special thanks are due to Farrah Karimian at Yves Saint Laurent for arranging this issue’s beauty exclusives focusing on YSL’s show-stopping collaboration with Cara Delevigne (from p8) and the brand’s limited edition version of the iconic Touche Éclat, one of my all-time favourite beauty products (on p18). I also enlisted the help of the brilliant Bianca Iaciofano at Jo Malone London, who gave us a sneak preview of the brand’s limited edition ‘London Rain’ collection (featured from p20). I’ve been spritzing this fragrance compulsively while dashing between editorial meetings for this issue (quite often in the rain!) and have concluded that if anything can add a dash of romance to grey skies it’s this chic cologne collection, which hits the counters in March. Meanwhile, Chloe Coates introduced me to Decleor’s ultra-luxe facials at the famous Chester Grosvenor and the fantastic House Beauty Spa and Karidis teams shared their spring skincare secrets with the His & Hers team. Proving that luxury needn’t come with an eye watering price tag, the Ford team whisked key UK press off to Cologne, the birthplace of the new Ford Fiesta, to show us how they’d packed a compact, affordable vehicle with a host of luxury features. With its remarkable fuel efficiency, jumping into this stylish car for a spot of retail therapy is virtually as affordable as going on foot. Flick to p38 to read His & Hers’ review of the new Ford Fiesta in full. Get your fashion fix from p12 where you’ll find ultra-luxe sports looks, must-buy menswear and Mother’s Day gift inspiration from our friends at Mococo from p46. If fine food, wine and travel is how you choose to indulge, you’ll find plenty to inspire on our food & drink pages starting from p52 with celebrity restaurateur Marco Pierre White’s regular column. I really hope you enjoy this edition. We’ll be back with more fashion, beauty and celebrity news in May!

Yves Saint Laurent’s legendary make-up artist Fred Letailleur talks trends, tips, supermodels and lucky breaks. 8
HIS&HERS BEAUTY This spring, His & Hers asked the legend behind Cara Delevigne’s show-stopping new look for Yves Saint Laurent, Fred Letailleur, a series of burning beauty questions during our exclusive interview.
and was able to meet Anita Roddick, one of the first true inspirations on my path. I later joined Giorgio Armani Cosmetics when the brand first launched and within a few years got to meet the greatest make-up artists backstage who lead the shows for Mr Armani around the world. I was humbled by how much knowledge and dedication it takes for these people to make it to that level. Finally, the move to Yves Saint Laurent launched me into a universe where art and colour are joined seamlessly to a world of feminine glamour. As one of the world’s leading luxury brands, Yves Saint Laurent has been a firm favourite of fashion and beauty lovers for decades. What do you think makes the Yves Saint Laurent makeup range stand out in an incredibly competitive marketplace?
As Make-up Artist for the iconic Yves Saint Laurent brand, you’re world renowned for creating red carpet looks for models like Cara Delevigne. How did your career in make up begin and what have been your career highlights to date? I have been very lucky with the projects I have been assigned to, often meeting with people who have showed extreme dedication to their work. I started my career in the world of TV, theatre and fashion. I particularly love the diversity of style and approach to make-up, from the creativity of character make-up down to the very precision required for the art of beauty. I joined The Body Shop
The people who work behind the scenes are simply the best you can find in the industry. Lloyd Simmonds, our Creative Director of Make-up, is very approachable and completely inhabits the world of Saint Laurent. Then there are the people in our head office who make things appear so effortless, right down to the Beauty Consultants on counter. You cannot underestimate the importance of each and every one towards making each new launch a huge success! Besides the people, the products have always contained the most up to date technologies and impactful colour. Finally, who wouldn’t love the gold packaging? It is pure luxury for any woman. The His & Hers team can’t wait to get our hands on the new YSL Gloss Volupté lip glosses. What makes the products (which are available in 24 different shades) different from traditional glosses and how should we wear them for a fresh, modern look? YSL is great at listening to what women want. They hate a gloss that feels sticky, and want something that gives maximum impact with minimum texture in order to feel as lightweight as possible. This is what
9
Gloss Volupte provides for each woman out there. It is so much more flattering than a normal lipgloss and the lip shaped applicator follows to the contour of the lip to perfection, whether you have large or small lips, leaving just the right amount of formula. It also comes in three finishes: Pure for every woman; shimmer, which I prefer to use to make lips look fuller, and golden for your evening glamour. For a long time, lipstick has had the monopoly on the catwalk. I love to blend a little Touche Éclat along the contour of the lips before the gloss in order to sharpen without exaggerating the definition. Many of our readers will be most familiar with you through your work with supermodel Cara Delevigne. Which key shades or products have you been using on Cara this year? We start the complexion with Le Teint Touche Éclat, then Touche Éclat in a lighter colour to illuminate and sculpt her features and follow with some powder. On her cheeks, we use the Blush Radiance 4 or 6. In terms of the looks, in particular you will have seen the classic glamour Baby Doll look with a thick black liquid Eyeliner Moiré enhanced with Baby doll Mascara and the glossy red lips created using Vernis a Levres No.9. The nails were finished in a classic red with La Laque Couture Rouge Pop Art No. 1 - simple to recreate for any special occasion! Which are your YSL beauty hero products for s/s 2014? Touche Éclat is always a favourite of mine, particularly in spring in order to brighten a sallow complexion and remove signs of fatigue from the party period. I love the Flower Crush Blush Palette, for its packaging but equally as it contains a rose gold metallic pigment, ideal to warm and uplift your skin and also doubles up as a great base of eye shadow. I also love the new blood red Vernis a Levres No. 33 as it is the first blood red we are doing in a gloss finish and a lasting texture for the lips. It’s a great colour for pale blondes or dark brunettes as a simple statement for
10
the lips. And quickly get your hands on the Rouge Pablo nail colour from the spring collection before it sells out. It’s the perfect tomato red. Which make up trends should we expect to see filtering down from the international catwalks this spring? Natural polished skin is turning towards more of a matte finish with new technologies that will revolutionise the no make-up effect for every woman’s complexion. Naked colours in soft matte browns and blues, or metallic for the evening in intense silvers eye shadows in particular. The lips are the statement for the face, dressed in shades of warm rose and oranges, down to berry stains. Please share three key make up tips with His & Hers’ readers? - In the morning brighten your features using your Touché Éclat underneath the eyes and from the corner of the nose to the corner of the eye. To get your complexion ready for the evening, sculpt your features using Touche Éclat around your lip contour, under the arch of your brow and top of your cheekbones. - If you find your mascara is starting to clog on the brush and your lashes, wipe the brush clean with a wet wipe to remove the dry excess that gather on the bristles. - YSL Blush Radiance Compact comes in 2 textures: shimmer and a matte. Use the shimmer to catch the light over the top of the cheek and apply the matte texture just underneath the apple of the cheek to shape What should we look out for from YSL beauty over the coming months? We are about to launch a new range of CC creams with the highest SPF on the market. We will continue to building on the success of our skincare and finally look out for something unique for lips and cheeks which will absolutely turn the heads of all fashionistas and beauty addicts all over the world. Be prepared for incredible, exciting and innovative collections this year!

YVES SAINT LAURENT PRESENTS TOUCHE ÉCLAT WILD EDITION A HIGHLY EXCLUSIVE LIMITED EDITION OF THE MOST ICONIC BEAUTY PRODUCT TOUCHE ÉCLAT.
WORDS & DESIGN: Jessica Heaton
Y
ves Saint Laurent Touche Éclat is one of those products that is adored by celebrities, make-up artists, supermodels, bloggers and women all around the world. Since its introduction by the brand in 1992, Touche Éclat has won multiple awards and become a cult beauty classic, being known as the must have beauty product for over 20 years. Hailed as one of the most innovative and advanced products of its time, Touche Éclat still takes pride of place in millions of women’s make-up bags, being known as the saviour from heavy nights and early mornings. We are really excited to reveal that this March, Yves Saint Laurent Beauté presents Touche Éclat Wild Edition, a highly exclusive limited edition of the iconic beauty product. A symbol of exotic luxury, the Touche Éclat Wild Edition is engraved with a precious jewel-like gold and black leopard pattern. Touche Éclat reflects the brand’s lust for elegant and strong animalistic patterns, combining luminous femininity and fierce attitude, making it the statement beauty product of spring 2014. Remarkably, the formula has never changed because it has never needed to. Touche Éclat has always been enriched with an anti-fatigue complex so your skin appears lighter and more radiant in just a click. It’s a faultless combination of hydration, protection and luminance, encapsulated in a light, transparent skin base. The queen of all highlighter pens, this sparkling little beauty may have been copied, but never equalled. It will make you dazzle when you feel dim and make you shine when you feel more like… Snooze.
As Mother’s Day is nearing, we begin to think of special ways to pamper and treat our mums and we think the Touche Éclat Wild Edition would make a wonderful gift. Yves Saint Laurent’s international make-up artist, Fred Letailleur explains: “Mother’s day is for sure a great way for her to rediscover the many uses of this icon. Shade number 1 is the perfect tool for women who want their eyes to remain the focus of their make-up and get maximum results. For those who prefer a more natural approach, select a colour slightly lighter than your own skin to still benefit from the luminosity of the formula.” The Touche Éclat comes in three shades and is available exclusively to Selfridges from 1st March. Opening up to nationwide stores on 1st April.

LUNCHTIME BE AUT Y TRE ATMENTS ON TRIAL:
THE DARPHIN INSTANT SKIN REVIVER AS WE HEAD TOWARDS SUMMER, THE HIS & HERS TEAM HAS BEEN ON A MISSION TO COMPILE A LIST OF BEAUTY TREATMENTS THAT DELIVER RESULTS IN MOMENTS. DARPHIN’S INSTANT SKIN REVIVER IS ONE SUCH TREATMENT.
I
n an ideal world, the His & Hers team and our readers would be blessed with unlimited time and resources with which to indulge in a series of lavish pampering treatments. However, in the real world, faking a well rested, glowy look in as little time as possible is the name of the game. With this in mind, His & Hers road-tested Darphin’s Instant Skin Reviver, which takes a mere 30 minutes, in the luxurious setting of the Chester Grosvenor’s spa. Although we were trialling the treatment in a hurry, as we were ushered into the Grosvenor’s spa area and handed a towelling robe, it was very tempting to make ourselves at home, as many of the hotel’s guests do. However, His & Hers was on a mission to find out whether one of Darphin’s best-selling facials really did deliver in minutes, so headed straight to our treatment room.
Darphin say this is: “A perfecting treatment that clarifies, detoxifies and provides ultimate radiance when time is limited.” Our treatment began with a gentle cleanse, tone and exfoliation, featuring deliciously fragranced Darphin products which immediately helped us to unwind with their delicate aromas. A face mask was applied and our therapist began to ease away the tensions of the week with a relaxing hand massage. Then once the mask had worked its magic, the Ideal Resource Overnight Cream was applied, leaving skin feeling hydrated without any greasiness. Despite this being a brief treatment, we left the Grosvenor feeling refreshed and rested and felt that our complexion looked brighter, more even and more radiant. We’d highly recommend this lunchtime pick-me-up from one of our favourite skincare brands. The Darphin Instant Skin Reviver costs £50 for 30 minutes, www.chestergrosvenor.com

Jo Malone London Unveils
‘LONDON RAIN’ If you’ve spent the start of spring sheltering under an umbrella, you probably can’t see any romance in rain showers. However Jo Malone London’s about to change that.
J
WOMEN’S BEAUTY o Malone London’s new limited edition cologne collection, ‘London Rain’ hit the counters at the start of March and like all of master perfumer Christine Nagel’s recent creations for the brand, is predicted to sell out in record time.
Given that the His & Hers team traditionally spends much of spring attempting to organise sun drenched location shoots while shivering under rain clouds, we really wanted to find something to love about April showers. And somehow by capturing the soft sparkle of a morning shower through to a wild rainstorm at night, Jo Malone London has reminded us that there genuinely is beauty to be found in every season. “The initial concept from Jo Malone London was to create a scented portrait of London to conjure up the romantic and deeply intense rainy days,” says Christine Nagel. “Imagine the soft, bewitching scent of a light rain glistening over a wisteria tree that has wound itself around a stony wall or the sensual aroma of pathways carpeted in moss awash with thunderous rain.” She added: “The Jo Malone Studio asked me to create a cologne collection that was quintessentially British and true to the Jo Malone London wit and whimsy that runs throughout the fragrances. Their initial idea was to create a scented portrait to illustrate the evocative, romantic and deeply intense rainy days experienced in London. “The intention of this fragrance collection was to stir the olfactive imagination and to create scents that are characterised by unique moments and times of day that Londoners will inevitably encounter with rain. “I was inspired by my memories of trips to London when you find yourself caught in the rain and all the smells around you intensify. Rain will always impress on its surroundings and will be different depending on its intensity and where the raindrops fall. Regardless, in the aftermath that follows a torrential downpour or even a light shower, your surroundings seem to soften, becoming delicate and ephemeral…almost precious.”
Photography: courtesy of Jo Malone London
The limited edition ‘London Rain’ collection features four 100ml colognes: Rain & Angelica, Wisteria & Violet (which is the current His & Hers office obsession), White Jasmine & Mint and Black Cedarwood and Juniper. The colognes are priced at £82 each and are available at Jo Malone London stores and counters nationwide or online at: www.jomalone.co.uk

BE AUT Y BUZ Z:
THE ‘BET TER TH A N BOTOX’ FACI A L His & Hers road tests one of the award-winning House Beauty Spa’s most popular new treatments, the Pro-Intense Lift Effect Facial.
F
or beauty writers, the quest to find a facial that delivers in terms of visible anti-ageing results is an ongoing mission. Emails arrive daily heralding the arrival of the latest wonder facial, but upon closer inspection, most will deliver immaculately cleansed and moisturised skin at best. However, regular readers will know that the His & Hers team has something of a House Beauty Spa addiction, so when their therapists said they had a must-try treatment, we sat up and paid attention. We visited the House’s pristine Childwall Park Avenue day spa for our treatment, opting to have our facial in their luxurious twin treatment room where we were joined by a very good friend who’s a fellow beauty junkie. Before the facial began, our feet were cleansed with warm mitts soaked in lime essential oils. This was followed by having our make-up removed with Pro-collagen cleansing balm and warm mitts. A warm lavender compress and rose capsules were applied, followed by an exfoliation. Our therapists then began a deep massage targeting the jowls and cheeks using a
22
beautifully scented Amber Massage Balm. Then, in an unusual move, our therapists applied Pro-Intense Lift Effect Jowl and Chin masks which hooked onto our ears. The House’s beauty experts smilingly describe these masks as “Spanx for the jowls!” A soothing gel eye mask was also applied and our therapists treated us to relaxing scalp massages. Next up was a Hydra-Active Soothing Gel mask, which was applied during neck and shoulder massages. Then a series of delicious Pro-Intense creams were applied to complete the treatment. According to independent consumer tests, 96% of people said their facial contours appeared firmer after this treatment and 82% said they would delay Botox or facial surgery and have a course of these facials instead. My companion and I noticed immediate results from our facials and both received compliments from people who didn’t know we’d had the treatment. We’d definitely recommend this facial for results and relaxation, all for just £65 for an hour-long treatment.

GIVE YOUR SKINCARE REGIME A SPRING CLEAN WITH A LITTLE HELP FROM THE EXPERTS AT KARIDIS To find out how to turbo-charge our skincare regime for spring, His & Hers paid a visit to the Karidis Medispa where their resident beauty expert Rochelle answered our burning questions.
Q.
As a skincare expert, what top tips or hero products do you rely on to keep your own complexion looking radiant?
A. First and foremost, I always ensure that
I cleanse correctly. Effective cleansing is at the core of any good skincare regime. I also make sure I exfoliate once or twice a week – people often forget to exfoliate, but it’s vital to keep your complexion looking smooth and polished. If you tend to forget this step, try leaving your exfoliator out in the shower or on the sink as a reminder. Also, I always protect my skin with a SPF in the daytime. And finally, in terms of a hero product, I’m hooked on Medik8 B5 serum, which rehydrates the skin, adding plumpness and radiance.
Q.
What are the most common skincare mistakes you see when new clients come to the Karidis Medispa?
A. People often use a cream-based cleanser
and don’t follow it with a toner to reset the skin’s PH balance. It’s also pretty common to
meet people who are relying on facial wipes or even just soap and water. Sometimes new clients have no idea how big a difference just addressing their skincare regime can make!
Q. If we do just one thing to shake up our skincare regime this spring, what should it be?
A. Start with eating well. It’ll show in your
complexion if you’re looking after yourself! Also, I’d recommend keeping your skincare regime at home simple so you won’t be tempted to skip it. Then when you want to turbo-charge your usual regime, come to the Karidis Medispa where we offer tailored, results driven treatments in a relaxing environment. We offer high-performance facials, body treatments to target any stubborn areas of fat that don’t respond to your regular gym sessions, non-surgical antiageing treatments and pain-free laser hair removal, which is very popular as we head into summer.

JAYNE’S OBSESSIONS: Recently, I was part of a dream job; I was in charge of styling the hair for Philip Armstrong’s brand new look book alongside Liz Collinge on make-up, Matt Ford behind the camera and Tony Armstrong as Creative Director.
Jayne Mahon
So for anyone who has their head buried in the sand, Philip Armstrong is the more than amazing Liverpool-based designer whose fabulous creations are worn by the likes of Nichole Scherzinger, Abbey Clancy, Kelly Rowland and Lady Gaga... the list goes on. For the shoot, it was my job to come up with a look that could match up to the stunning dresses and I think I just might have done it! Unfortunately, the beautiful look books won’t be ready until the summer but don’t worry as soon as the print is dry, I will share a sneaky peek with you. But, don’t say I didn’t warn you - get saving your pennies now! My spring must-have is a Mulberry bag that has been created by the model of the moment Cara Delevingne (who just so happens to be featured throughout this issue!) Cara is renowned for her quirky style and after she announced on twitter that something was ‘coming soon’ alongside a picture of a bag, we knew it was going to be good. Now the collection had been revealed it certainly doesn’t disappoint. As Cara wanted us to feel like opening each bag was like opening a letter and discovering a surprise, inside every bag, there is a lion and a heart shaped patch based on her tattoos.
HIS&HERS ENTERTAINMENT
MUST-HAVES COLLINGE ART DIRECTOR JAYNE MAHON SHARE THEIR SPRING OBSESSIONS.
MATT’S OBSESSIONS: Gamers - you’re about to see a lot less of your other halves... Call of Duty has been the top dog of the video game world for a long, long time. But with Respawn Entertainments TitanFall finally hitting shelves mid-March, the word on the street is that all that’s about to change. Titanfall is a new breed of first person shooter - developed by the guys who made Call of Duty Modern Warfare. The basic premise is that you start a multiplayer match as an agile pilot - able to jump great distances, run along walls and even fall from great heights without getting hurt. These pilots are able to call in ‘Titans’, huge walking tanks with ballistic missiles, machine guns and other futuristic weaponry attached to them. The Pilots jump in and operate the Titans, kind of like Ripley at the end of Aliens. So why is it a COD beater? Well, this ever changing gameplay style is a much needed shot in the arm for online multiplayer games - COD has been essentially doing the same thing for a few years now, and while it does it well, it was starting to get a little bit tired. Add into this mix more sexy stuff like multiplayer campaign (giving all your multiplayer matches a narrative) and what you end up with is the evolution of the FPS genre. Food shouldn’t be this much fun! After playing hours of TitanFall you will inevitably have to make it up to your other half - do this at Camp and Furnace’s Food Slam Fridays. Part street food, part destination, part disco - Food Slam Friday is a collection of some great local restaurants bringing a cut down menu to the huge back room of Camp and Furnace selling one or two brilliant dishes (We had Treacle Beans!). Grab a seat on the long tables in the middle and grab little bits from each stall – perfection!

AYA (18) Aya kept it chic in monochrome, pairing skinny black jeans with a crisp white shirt, both from Miss Selfridge. She kept out the chill in a fur jacket from Topshop, and polished the look off with classic stilettoes also from Topshop and a vintage necklace.

George went for a tailored look, matching a Gieves and Hawkes jacket with tweed Topman trousers. He wore a Peter Worth coat over his shoulders and gave the look a casual edge with on-trend navy New Balance trainers.
Hollie made a statement with a textured jumper and fur hat in matching cobalt blue. She kept the rest of her look simple in Comme des Garcons trousers, chunky Marni heels and a vintage Jean Muir coat, accessorising with dark sunglasses.
Silvia proved that a luxury look needn’t involve heels, instead opting for flats from H&M, with metal toe cap detail. With them she wore an on-trend slogan Celine sweatshirt, Zara skirt and coat from Miss Sixty, all in classic black.
Volk sported a classic trench coat from Massimo Dutti, matched with trousers from Zara. He wore a shirt from a boutique in Japan and gave the look a fashionable twist with silver shoes. His hat and bag were both recent Comme Des Garcons purchases.

THE NEW FORD FIESTA: THE SHAPE OF THINGS TO COME
Prepare to fall in love with one of Ford’s most iconic car designs. WORDS: Emma Hill
HIS&HERS TRENDS
W
hen looking for a suitably stylish set of wheels for the luxury style edition, we considered some of the most expensive high-performance vehicles on the planet, but in the end it was the modestly priced Ford Fiesta that we chose as our everyday indulgence.
Fashion lovers will spot plenty of subtle nods to the greats, from the Chanel-style quilting on the seats to the 14 striking paint colours on offer.
His & Hers’ discovery of the Fiesta, our new everyday obsession, began in Cologne, where we were excited to join leading journalists from around the globe for behind-the-scenes insights into the making of the Fiesta.
The team speaks passionately about the democratisation of design. Yes, they want to offer luxury finishes, high-tech features and innovation, but at a price which is accessible to all. In the same way that snapping up a Chanel lipgloss or men’s fragrance enables us to own a little something from one of our favourite fashion houses without a couture budget, by buying a Ford Fiesta, you access a multi award-winning vehicle which looks and feels luxurious and is packed with the latest technology without paying a premium.
The Ford design team explained how the car had been created to appeal to designconscious consumers who like to stay ahead of the trends. The key colour options were inspired by the latest looks fresh from the catwalks and beauty counters.
Ford’s target consumer for the Fiesta is someone who believes that good design is crucial whether it’s applied to what they wear, where they live or what they drive.
HIS&HERS TRENDS
Rivalling your home entertainment system, the Fiesta features an intuitive SYNC system. Just plug in your smartphone and run it through the car’s striking big screen - perfect when you want to enjoy your itunes (through the Fiesta’s excellent sound system) on the go. The car’s five-inch screen also comes into its own when using the optional Sat-Nav system, which His & Hers soon became hooked on to find the optimum route to our assignations. The SYNC system also took the stress out of receiving urgent calls or texts while you’re on the go. Use it for crystal clear hands-free calls, or even enlist its help in reading out your texts when your eyes are on the road and you don’t have a travel companion to do that for you. We were equally impressed with features like the rear view camera, which is displayed on the big screen on the centre console, which, paired with power assisted steering, will make anyone feel like a parking pro. As an added bonus, night vision provides excellent visibility for parking in dim light. The interiors are very comfortable and you feel that every design detail has been given thought and attention and some clever noise reduction measures mean that even in turbulent weather conditions on exposed roads, the ride feels smooth, secure and quiet. If you’re generally a label snob when it comes to cars, we’d urge you to set your preconceptions aside and try this clever, compact vehicle, which doesn’t skimp on the luxury touches that count. His & Hers road-tested the Fiesta for 10 days, giving us the opportunity to fully appreciate its design, its tech features and its “sprinty” driving style. However, above all, it was the incredibly cost effective fuel consumption that really turned our head. The award-winning Eco-Boost engine can achieve up to 65.7 miles-per-gallon, making trips to the petrol station far less frequent than we were accustomed to. This car is so cheap to run that you’ll be able to re-allocate some of your petrol budget to save for the everyday luxuries you really want. And despite being such a practical option, the looks, style and handling of the Fiesta are all about fun, making this one of those very rare buys which is sensible and indulgent in equal measure.

WOMEN’S BEAUTY
MY JOURNEY FROM MODEL TO AGENT LONDON BASED MODEL AGENCY, MILK MANAGEMENT, IS THE PRODUCT OF HARD WORK AND DETERMINATION AND IT DIDN’T JUST HAPPEN OVERNIGHT. WORDS & DESIGN: Jessica Heaton
I
had the privilege of catching up with Anna Shillinglaw: former model and founder of MiLK Management who enlightened me on her journey from model to agent. “For me it was just a natural progression, if I was working with a model, I’d always want to have a look at their portfolio because I saw things in their work. I really liked the idea of being on the other side of the table.” As a model for 17 years, she is no stranger to how the industry works, when I asked Anna how it feels to have the shoe on the other foot she said “It feels great! Because I used to be a model, I know how models feel and this makes me a good agent and gives me a bit of edge.” MiLK Management was formed in 2011 when Anna Shillinglaw’s hard work finally slotted into place. Starting off her business venture in her bedroom with no funding she laughed “I really don’t know how I did it! I think my husband wanted to divorce me at one point! It’s been so worth it though, never get complacent and never give up.” MiLK Management over the past two years has grown substantially with an incredible calibre of male and female models on its books, their plus size division is one of the strongest in the country. Anna tells me the office has moved three times, expanding swiftly because of their rapid development. When I asked what advice she could give to people wanting to start up their own business she stated “Be prepared to work hard and undergo many days and nights! But most of all never give up!”
MiLK Management has recently launched its new section for special bookings with a dynamic roster of talent ranging from Charlie XCX to Union J. When prompted about what the future holds for MiLK Management she said “The world is our oyster and we just want to build our quality so that it’s better and better. My dream is to become well established with great models, agents, a great team of people and a high quality special bookings division. Those other agencies better watch out!”

NICKI WATERMAN'S TIPS FOR STAYING FIT THIS SUMMER SO WE’VE FINALLY REACHED MARCH AND THOSE NEW YEAR'S RESOLUTIONS WE MADE BACK IN DECEMBER DIDN’T QUITE MAKE IT WITH US. WERE YOU AIMING TO LOSE 20 POUNDS? RUN A MARATHON? CUT OUT JUNK FOOD OR EVEN JUST GET OUT IN THE FRESH AIR AND DO SOMETHING ACTIVE WITH YOUR KIDS? NICKI WATERMAN IS HERE TO BOOST YOUR SPIRITS, RE-IGNITE YOUR GOALS AND SHARE HER TIPS ON HOW TO STAY FIT RIGHT THROUGH TILL SUMMER!
1
You won’t get killer abs by doing crunches. Getting a 6-pack is a result of doing exercises like pull-ups, push-ups and squats. These moves are a fantastic abs workout because they really engage your core and build the muscles that burn fat around your belly.
2
Long, boring workouts aren’t the best way to lose weight. How long you work out isn’t as important as how strong you work out. You can get great results from a short high-intensity workout, making it easy to fit exercise into your busy schedule.
3
A lot of women don’t want to start a weight-training prog ra m me because they’re afraid to bulk up. But you can’t get a toned and tight body without lifting weights. Resistance training adds much needed muscle to speed up your metabolism. For the best results, focus on working the biggest muscle groups: chest, back, bottom and legs.
4
Don’t let food labels fool you. Many fat-free foods are actually loaded with sugar. And too much sugar is often the real reason people gain weight. More importantly, your brain doesn’t work as well when you eat a lot of sugar. Sweets, biscuits and fizzy drinks aren’t the only problem. Sugar is in virtually every food you eat.
44
5 6
Classify the food you eat as good (veggies, fruit, lean meats), bad (starches, bread), and ugly (dessert, alcohol). Fill up on the good first and then move on to the other foods. Get skipping. It’s cheap, it’s fun and it really blasts calories, about the same as running at 7.5 miles an hour, plus you can take a skipping rope anywhere. Skip for just ten minutes and you’ve burned over 100 calories.
7
You’ll burn more calories if you exercise outside in the morning or evening when it’s cooler, since your body works to maintain a stable temperature. Your body uses up to 25% more calories as it tries to warm your skin and the air you breathe in.
8
DESIGN: Jessica Heaton
A pre-workout coffee will not only help to boost performance – research in the International Journal Of Sports Nutrition has shown that it can boost fat burning by up to 30%, too, and increase the amount of calories you will burn after exercise.
9
Changing your workout music is just one of many simple ways to stay motivated. Plus, studies show that listening to music during your workout can help you work harder and fight fatigue. So, download some up-beat music on to your iPod or mp3 player.
10
Get a pedometer, a good pair of walking trainers and get outside and walk. Aim for 10,000 steps a day. Take the stairs instead of the lift, go for a walk on your lunch break, get off the bus or train a stop early and walk the rest of the way. It all makes a difference.

HIS&HERS FASHION
JOANNE WATKINSON ON WHAT LUXURY MEANS TO HER Stylist and personal shopper Joanne Watkinson shares her thoughts on luxury within the fashion industry.
I
s luxury in the eye of the beholder? Generic luxury is something we would all agree on, featuring everyday indulgences like fluffy towels and soft pillows, but when it comes to what we consider a true luxury, opinion is very much divided. Luxury, by definition, is a product or service conducive to sumptuous living, a refinement of living rather than a necessity, so fashion, or clothes fit rather perfectly into this category the higher the price, the more luxurious something is deemed, based on the quality and more importantly, the exclusivity. Iconic brand, Louis Vuitton, never goes on sale, no mark downs, no reductions - if you can’t afford it full price, tough, they make no exceptions; fashion folklore would have it they burn surplus stock to avoid pieces being sold at a discount. Outrageous? Perhaps. Obnoxious? A little, but what it is for sure is a clever and successful marketing strategy to keep their brand aspirational. When it comes to adding a little bit of luxury into your own wardrobe, think quality not quantity, Don’t be a brand whore; there is truth in the saying “buy the best you can afford”, the craftsmanship and fabric will be infinitely better. Cashmere doesn’t come cheap, so avoid supermarket versions and think provenance. Although stack ‘em high sell ‘em cheap shops are on the rise, the demand for bespoke or handmade items is on the increase, too - having something tailor-made is the only sure way to guarantee exclusivity and the benefit of it fitting like a glove is the ultimate luxury. Living by the mantra “buy less buy better” will eventually lead you to having not only a more streamlined wardrobe, but one filled with clothes that stand the test of time, well made garments in better fabrics, like soft leather, pure wool and silk in classic shapes. Trendy doesn’t equal luxurious, only style is timeless and that’s a real luxury.

The beautiful, tranquil and intensely private spa on the top floor of the Harvey Nichols Beauty Bazaar is His & Hers’ favourite hide-away for our monthly complexion transforming Hydrafacials. So when Spa Manager Caroline Farr told us that Karidis had just joined forces with the Cosmetology brand (which eagle eyed readers may have noticed we featured in the previous issue) we couldn’t resist paying a visit to the Medispa to find out more. Caroline said: “We had heard about Caroline’s brand Cosmetology as one of the leading names in permanent cosmetics in the UK and because she has clinics based in Liverpool and London it was a natural fit. MARCO PIERRE WHITE’S Culinary Obsessions Marco Pierre White is an internationally-renowned chef, with restaurants across the North West, including Marco Pierre White Steakhouse Bar & Grill in Liverpool’s Hotel Indigo, and at DoubleTree by Hilton Chester, plus Marco’s New York Italian in Hoylake. Here he gives us his unique slant on all things food.
I
t is somewhat apt that this luxury style issue of His & Hers magazine should also fall in the same month as Mother’s Day, which this year lands on 30th March. On this day mothers everywhere deserve an element of luxury and surprise in their lives. They should be treated and positively spoilt, and shown the love they’ve generously bestowed on us since birth. You could say that this ingrained, overwhelming sense of appreciation is thanks to my Italian roots and you would be right. In Italy, mothers are - quite rightfully - positioned on the tallest of pedestals, which is exactly how it should be. What better way to spoil your mother than with lavish food and great wine either prepared lovingly by yourself, or by the experienced hands of a trained chef? This year in my restaurants we have really pushed the boat out with our Mother’s Day menu. Matriarchs can expect my slow roasted tomato soup for starters, or my personal favourite press confit duck, with apple puree and parsnip crisps.
52
For the main course, there is the option of a classic English Sunday lunch, with either roast sirloin beef or roast chicken, affectionately hugged with a Yorkshire pudding, crispy roast potatoes, fresh market vegetables and a generous coating of pan gravy. Alternatively, for a lighter delicacy, there is the wild mushroom risotto, with sun blushed tomato, goat’s cheese and baby watercress. To cement a wonderful spring afternoon with the family, delve into desert with my rich dark chocolate, raspberry sorbet. March 30th is also the day British summertime begins. It’s a time to venture outside with loved ones, sample new tastes, breath in the fresh air, and look forward to those balmy, summer days. My restaurants will also soon be unveiling my brand new menu, which I am very excited about. I am very confident the colourful mix of flavours will be a hit with diners. In the meantime, continuing with the luxury theme, I present to you the recipe for my pan fried venison; a feast fit for royalty.
Marco’s pan fried venison with Jerusalem artichoke puree, spinach, pancetta & wild mushrooms INGREDIENTS: 2 LOINS VENISON 2 ARTICHOKES 250G SPINACH 150G WILD MUSHROOMS 100G DICED PANCETTA
Method Take the artichokes, peel, then soften in a pan with a knob of butter, seasoning and a tablespoon of oil. Once slightly soft, cover with water and cook until soft. Blend using some of the water you cooked them in until you have a smooth puree. Set aside until later. Wilt the spinach in with a knob of butter until it drops by half, then squeeze off excess liquor. Set aside. Take your loin of venison, season and pan fry in a hot pan with a little oil for two minutes on each side then leave to rest. Pan fry the mushrooms and pancetta, adding the spinach last minute. Heat up the puree, dress the plate, and slice the venison. Enjoy! For more information visit

MAKE A LUNCH DATE YOUR FAMILY WILL THANK YOU FOR AT THE INTERESTING EATING COMPANY
MOST EATERIES SELL THEMSELVES AS BEING ‘FAMILY FRIENDLY’, BUT LIVERPOOL’S INTERESTING EATING COMPANY IS ONE OF THOSE RARE GEMS THAT REALLY DELIVERS FOR CHILDREN AND ADULTS OF ALL AGES.
H
aving heard good things about The Interesting Eating company on the grapevine, His & Hers paid a visit to this popular Allerton Road eatery as a party of two adults and two ravenous children.
First impressions were good; the decor is simple with playful, quirky touches and the waiters made our group smile by taking the time to chat to children and adults alike. We were ushered to a table which was attractively presented with a framed, handwritten ‘reserved’ sign. We took longer than we ordinarily would perusing the menu as it had the longest list of children’s dishes we’ve ever encountered on a restaurant menu. After much deliberation, we ordered a combination of comfort food, from jacket potatoes to allday breakfasts. Once our dishes arrived, along with a selection of soft drinks, the immaculate presentation and perfect portion sizes for our younger guests ensured that plates were cleared all round. Then, with the mains demolished, the children locked their focus onto The Interesting Eating Company’s famous pancake menu. Two sweet pancakes, served up with a choice of strawberry or chocolate sauce and with jellybeans and mini-marshmallows caused unprecedented excitement levels from our young guests, who declared this the “best lunch ever” between mouthfuls. As we left the restaurant with two full but very happy children in tow, the team at The Interesting Eating Company were preparing for a large children’s party that evening. The venue’s clearly a big hit for children’s parties, but we also spotted plenty of adults enjoying the popular all-day breakfasts and excellent Illy coffees. With great food, an extensive children’s menu, incredibly friendly staff, very reasonable prices and, according to our young guests, the best pancakes in the world, the Interesting Eating Company is well worth a visit no matter how old you are!

GEORGIAN GLAMOUR
THIS SPRING, HIS & HERS PAID A RETURN VISIT TO ONE OF LIVERPOOL’S PERENNIALLY POPULAR RESTAURANTS.
N
o matter when you visit the multi award-winning 60 Hope Street, you’ll almost certainly find this famous eatery filled with contented diners. Stunning Georgian architecture, a muted and sophisticated interior design scheme and an inviting real fire roaring downstairs on cooler spring days all combine to create a warm and inviting ambiance as you enter the restaurant. During His & Hers’ most recent visit to 60 Hope Street (one of our favourite city eateries) we opted for some serious comfort food in the form of two large plates piled with beer battered cod served with perfectly cooked chips and the traditional accompaniments of mushy peas, tartare sauce and a wedge of lemon. These hearty mains were the perfect antidote to the cool temperatures outside the cosy restaurant and our table near a large sash window gave us the opportunity to soak up our city centre surroundings while enjoying our food. If you crave more sophisticated dishes, 60 Hope Street’s carefully compiled menu, featuring locally sourced seasonal ingredients, is sure to please, but we’d also recommend this restaurant for simple classic dishes, like our humble fish and chips, cooked impeccably. If you haven’t already visited this leading restaurant, we’d recommend paying 60 Hope Street a visit at your earliest convenience. The versatile menu features both exotic, indulgent dishes and simple classics and every detail, from the quality of the cooking to the beautiful glassware, crockery and cutlery, has been considered. While some restaurants fall in and out of fashion, 60 Hope Street is one eatery that genuinely deserves its reputation as one of the best places in the city to find out in style.

THE SATURDAY NIGHT SPECTACULAR at Gusto, The Albert Dock
I
t was a birthday bash and Gusto is somewhere to go to for big occasions, or simply to enjoy good food. The restaurant is a vast, elegant space that still manages to cater for small intimate parties, alongside stylish seating for larger groups. The views onto the Albert Dock are entrancing, particularly in the evening, because of the lights illuminating the picturesque dock-side area. Gusto source responsibly both on land and sea, and you gain the benefits of this policy. We were overwhelmed by the scope of the food menu and asked for guidance. Our waiter consulted with the chef and came back with what turned out to be inspired choices. We began with the Deli board: Italian cured meats and fine Italian cheeses: Pecorino and goat’s cheese were mouth wateringly good, but the pickled vegetables take this starter to a different level; I have never tasted better. The vegetables are presented in strips, like pasta, the pickle makes for a burst of flavour that lingers on and is worth making much ado about. I intend going back for the recipe, armed with a very large box of the finest chocolates. My companion chose roast rump of lamb, roasted celeriac and salsa verde, and wasn’t disappointed, in fact he was more than a little smug. I’d gone for pan roast breast of duck, balsamic shallot tartlette, red wine and

beetroot reduction and I was ecstatic about my choice. The duck had a beautiful flavour and was completely tender, as was the lamb. My companion remarked that the quality of the food was impressive: it was a very hectic Saturday evening, it’s a large menu to cook from, and presentation is key, but standards remain high. It didn’t feel like we waited too long between courses and the wine was a perfect match for the food. My only regret: that I couldn’t manage a dessert, because they simply are the best. It’s a great venue and you’ll find a warm welcome, and we appreciated the attention to detail. Go, just go.

INDIAN RESTAURANT
BALLE BALLE IS A HIDDEN GEM WORDS: Jean Hill
L
ast month, His & Hers sampled creative Indian cuisine by well-known Chef Director, Uday Seth. We discovered that the aim at his restaurant is to deliver lighter and healthier dishes, but still with the intense flavours that make Indian cooking unique. The venue is simply decorated, with red brick and beautiful Indian embroideries displayed on the walls. The focus is on excellent food and we were welcomed into what felt like a family atmosphere. After moving from his home country of India to England in 2001, Uday has been on a quest to serve the food he enjoyed at home and his perception is that: “British people are unknowingly used to eating food which differs quite considerably from traditional Indian.” Uday was eager to share his signature dishes, and explain to us that his cuisine isn’t limited to one region of India. He acknowledged that what he has set out to do is ambitious, but he’s totally committed to this venture, and wants to spread the word, and so do we now we’ve sampled some of those delightful signature dishes. The ‘Nibbles’, as recommended by the chef, were: pappadoms, spicy chutney, and subtly flavoured wafer thin pastries, floating on a gorgeous sauce. I opted for Tandoori salad for my starter: spicy fruit, peppers, apple, pineapple, potato and water-chestnut, which was hot and very spicy – I loved the heat and tenderness of the fruit, and followed this with a vegetarian, rural Punjabi curry: a fabulous mix of seeds, natural yogurt, with flour dumplings, tempered with mustard and coriander seeds and dried red chillies. This was different from any other curry I’ve ever tasted, but in a good way – not immensely hot, but an intriguing mix of spices that seemed to fuse into a burst of subtle loveliness. My companion opted for a delicious Balti chicken and I asked for the ‘house red’, which turned out to be a lovely fruity, semisweet wine that was a perfect accompaniment to the food. Thanks to Uday Seth and his very capable staff for making us so welcome, and making it such an enjoyable evening.

HARROGATE HIGHLIGHTS AT
HOTEL DU V IN
THE PICTURESQUE SPA TOWN OF HARROGATE IS A FIRM FAVOURITE WITH UK AND OVERSEAS TRAVELLERS. HIS & HERS PAID A VISIT TO FIND OUT WHAT MAKES HARROGATE SUCH A PERENNIALLY POPULAR DESTINATION.
H
aving been told that Hotel du Vin was the best place to stay during our Harrogate visit, we made our reservation and were suitably impressed as we drove up to the attractive Georgian-style building. Once inside the hotel, staff extended a warm welcome and we were ushered up to one of the hotel’s two stunning ‘big suites’ (the Moet Vintage Collection and Dom Perignon suites). Although we’d anticipated that the room would be luxurious, we were genuinely dazzled by the 10-foot bed, double walkthrough monsoon showers and two rolltop baths. Having taken some time to enjoy our surroundings, we took stock of the hotel’s excellent location, adjacent to one of Harrogate’s bustling high-streets which is peppered with attractive independent stores and easy-on-the-eye architecture. It’s the perfect setting in which to indulge in a little shopping at a leisurely pace. Sightseeing complete, the delicious cooking aromas

emanating from the hotel’s relaxed and informal ‘Bistro du Vin’ drew us in. The menu had clearly been inspired by local, seasonal ingredients and the popular steaks chosen from the ‘From the Grill’ section did not disappoint. The following day, it was with a heavy heart that we checked out of our amazing room. A quick visit to the Bistro for two tasty breakfasts (one full-English, one Continental) fortified us for the drive home and as we walked towards the car, we couldn’t resist a lingering gaze back at the Hotel du Vin and the Harrogate landscape beyond. We’d heartily recommend paying a visit to one of Yorkshire’s most picturesque towns, taking in a visit to the Hotel du Vin, a hotel that works hard to maintain its excellent reputation. And if the ‘big suites’ happen to be available during your visit, snap one up to add an extra level of indulgence to your stay.

HIS & HERS’ HOTEL OBSESSION: THE DEVONSHIRE ARMS
FINDING A COUNTRY HOUSE HOTEL THAT’S SIMULTANEOUSLY COSY AND LUXURIOUS REQUIRES A DELICATE BALANCE AND THE DEVONSHIRE ARMS DELIVERS IN SPADES ON BOTH FRONTS, GIVING GUESTS THE WARMEST AND MOST INDULGENT OF WELCOMES.
W
hen His & Hers pulled up outside the Devonshire Arms within the Bolton Abbey Estate, covering 30,000 acres of stunning scenery within the Yorkshire Dales National Park, on a cold, stormy evening, a hotel porter appeared as if by magic the instant we opened the car doors, offering the shelter of an umbrella and assistance with our luggage. Having been tipped off that my travel companion was celebrating his birthday, congratulations were offered. The warm birthday wishes were echoed when we reached the reception desk, having admired the hotel’s period architecture, the artfully displayed line of wellies that greeted us at the hotel’s entrance and the incredibly inviting real fire. Once we’d checked in, my travel companion was delighted to spot a birthday card and

beautifully presented box of chocolates awaiting him in the room. This wasn’t the only thoughtful touch. Fine bone china, opulent high-quality bed-linen, tastefully chosen artwork and accessories and a stylish bathroom featuring a roll-top bath and walk-in shower all helped to create excellent first impressions. As the Devonshire Arms’ Burlington restaurant had been highly recommended, this was our first port of call. After drinks by a roaring real fire, we made our way to the stunning restaurant area, where we were temporarily silenced by the striking architecture, attractive artwork and elegant layout and lighting. It really is a show stopping setting in which to enjoy food at its very best. My travel companion and I made our selections from a menu created utilising a Yorkshire larder wherever possible, with a
few more exotic delicacies added into the mix. Although tempted by the restaurant’s worldrenowned tasting menu, we eschewed this to order from the main menu, so that we could select our favourites (beef in the case of my travel companion, while I opted for a fish dish). My companion declared the beef the best he had ever tasted, lamenting, somewhat dramatically, that it was so good that it had ruined all other food for him forever. The wine list was as impressive as the menu itself, offering some real gems which perfectly complemented the food. Despite having happily demolished a series of delicious dishes, we couldn’t resist ordering desserts, which arrived embellished with gold leaf and looking every bit as good as they tasted. Having dined like kings, we ended a perfect evening with a nightcap at the cosy bar area. The following day brought more indulgence in the form of one of the best breakfasts we’ve ever enjoyed in a hotel. My travel companion’s cooked breakfast was declared perfect, while my continental breakfast was a mouth-watering testament to the skill of the pastry chef.
Later in the day, we couldn’t resist one last round of indulgence, heading to the hotel lounge for one of their popular afternoon teas. The Devonshire Arms states: “This is probably the best afternoon tea outside of London”, but we’ve never tasted better in the capital. The sandwiches were delicate and flavoursome, the scones were clearly fresh from the oven and were quite simply the best we’ve ever tasted and the cakes and pastries were almost as much fun to stare at in wonderment as they were to devour. As we finished our afternoon tea at a leisurely pace and prepared to check out of the hotel, we admitted to being reluctant to leave one of the nicest, not to mention friendliest, hotels we’ve ever visited. Having promised to return, we bade a fond farewell to the team who make this such a special place to visit. Our recommendation: visit The Devonshire Arms as soon as you can and leave your diet at the door, because even if you don’t consider yourself a foodie, all that will change once you set foot inside this enchanting venue.

t’s that age-old tradition. You get to the end of the year and there is suddenly a mad panic when it comes to deciding how you are going to see in the New Year.
You consider a house party, check out menus for nearby bars and restaurants and then hit Google frantically looking for last minute mini breaks in an attempt to find something ‘a bit different’ to do. As 2013 drew to a close, and after much deliberation, I decided that I would leave Liverpool for a few days and visit one of the most well known party cities in the UK just three and a half hours away from my front door – the wonderful city of Glasgow. After hearing so many wonderful stories about how the Scots celebrate Hogmanay, I decided it was time to see for myself. The journey there wasn’t bad at all and after getting off the train at Glasgow Station, my husband and I only had a short five-minute walk to our hotel. Our base for the duration of the stay was Hotel Indigo Glasgow, which promises guests ‘luxurious comfort with a bubbly vibrant atmosphere, coming straight from the city we are proud to be a part of.’ I had high expectations. As we entered the hotel, the reception staff couldn’t have been more friendly and attentive as they greeted us. The reception area was adjacent to a stunning lounge area that combined modern décor with classical architecture. The bold colour scheme was consistent throughout the hotel, as were the quirky decorative elements that gave the hotel a fun and fresh vibe. We stayed in an executive suite on the fourth floor, which certainly had the wow factor. Our room was perfectly pink, contemporary yet comfortable, featuring an extremely spacious bedroom packed with plenty of gadgets and homely touches.

HIS&HERS TRAVEL To add to our enjoyment, the mini bar was complimentary and featured local spirits and snacks that reminded us of the city we were in. As for the bathroom, who can complain with a huge walk-in rain head shower teamed with Aveda toiletries and fluffy bathrobes? In fact, the suite was so spotless that it felt like we were the first people to stay in it, even though the hotel opened back in 2011. Prior to attending our Hogmanay celebrations in the city’s renowned Ashton Lane, we relaxed in the lounge area and enjoyed a couple of signature cocktails in preparation for the night’s festivities. The pricelist was reasonable – so much so that we returned on our last night for their Fizz Friday offering. Although we didn’t eat in the restaurant during our stay, we did opt for the hotel’s delicious full English breakfast served at the in-house Limelight Bar & Grill, which provided the perfect antidote to our sore heads on January 1st. Overall, we couldn’t have wished for a better minibreak and Glasgow is definitely a city I would return to. Our entire stay was luxurious whilst being excellent value for money and we would like to return back to the hotel in the near future. We got the New Year off to a great start thanks to a wonderful visit to such an openhearted city.

The North West’s best-loved coffee arrives at the Bierkeller.
AS THE HIS & HERS OFFICE RUNS ON CAFFEINE, WE WERE DELIGHTED TO HEAR THAT OUR FAVOURITE INDEPENDENT COFFEE BRAND, JOE BLACK COFFEE, IS NOW AVAILABLE ON OUR DOORSTEP AT THE BIERKELLER, LIVERPOOL ONE.
F
ellow caffeine addicts may already have spotted that The Bierkeller Entertainment Complex has teamed up with Joe Black Coffee, the Liverpool-based roasting house, to launch a range of coffees for those wanting something a little different. Peter Robinson, Area Director for the Bierkeller, said: “We are not just a venue for beer lovers. We offer a range of food in all three bar areas and thought it was a great time to link up with one of Liverpool’s oldest drinks companies. We have worked closely with the team at Joe Black Coffee, especially Kirsty Lockwood, to create our own blends for our loyal customers.” The deal which will roll out across all the Bierkeller venues, including Manchester and Leeds, will see coffee served all day every day across the sites. HIS&HERS STYLE Black Cedarwood & Juniper Cologne by Jo Malone London
MY DESIGN PA SSIONS
This fragrance for me has an urban side that captures the seductive mood of midnight rain. It is a dark fragrance with a modern twist; the carnal touch of cumin blended with the vibrancy of juniper and the deep woody character of black cedarwood make this scent utterly addictive.
Made-to-Measure Suits There is something that feels quite proper about walking into a Saville Row Tailor to have a bespoke suit made. I love the scent of the old wood panels as you walk into Anderson & Sheppard on Old Burlington Street. The showroom feels like an Edwardian library which gives you the reassurance that the suit you are being fitted for comes with an experience and authority that is hard to find.
Cambridge Brogues by Barker I was bought a pair of Cambridge Brogues by Barker for my birthday and they are definitely a pair of shoes that I have gotten my wear out of. The craftsmanship that goes into making them is exceptional; they carefully select each piece of leather and the uppers are shaped by hand. Plus they look great with both a suit or a pair of jeans!
Tag Aquaracer The simplicity of the design of this watch makes it a classic timepiece. I love versatility and this is something I feel just as comfortable wearing out for dinner with friends as I do walking into a meeting at work.
The Wolseley

The Wolseley on Piccadilly does the best English breakfast in London. It effortlessly mixes London heritage with modern simplicity and it is somewhere that I have spent many a Sunday morning with friends catching up over a coffee.
