The Creed of Zeta Tau Alpha To realize that within our grasp, in Zeta Tau Alpha, lies the opportunity to learn those things which will ever enrich and ennoble our lives; to be true to ourselves and to those within and without our circle; to think in terms of all mankind and our service to the world; to be steadfast, strong, and clean of heart and mind, remembering that since the thought is father to the deed, only that which we would have manifested in our experience should be entertained in thought; to find satisfaction in being, rather than seeming, thus strengthening in us the higher qualities of the spirit; to prepare for service and learn the nobility of serving, thereby earning the right to be served; to seek understanding that we might gain true wisdom; to look for the good in everyone; to see beauty, with its enriching influence; to be humble in success, and without bitterness in defeat; to have the welfare and harmony of the Fraternity at heart, striving ever to make our lives a symphony of high ideals, devotion to the Right, the Good, and the True, without a discordant note; remembering always that the foundation precept of Zeta Tau Alpha was Love, “the greatest of all things.” – Shirley Kreasan Strout 6

Free Afternoon On Saturday afternoon, you have free time to visit the ZTA Historical Exhibit, shop at Crown & Co. or check out the Z-Learning Lounge. You can also enjoy the California sun poolside at the hotel—just be sure to lather on sunscreen. (Did you notice the lounge chairs are ZTA turquoise?) If you are up for an adventure, ZTA organized two tours that will help you explore Los Angeles. Reservations began online prior to Convention. Listen for announcements about any remaining tour space available.
Santa Monica offers a blend of city energy with a beach town atmosphere. This tour will take sisters along the scenic Pacific Coast Highway to Santa Monica, traveling through Marina Del Rey and Venice Beach. The bus will drop sisters off at the famous Santa Monica Pier, which boasts shops, restaurants, an amusement park, historic carousel and arcade for the kids at heart. Or you can catch some sun on the beach. If you plan to play on the beach or in the water, we recommend bringing a beach towel and swimsuit with a cover-up.
See Santa Monica
This tour costs $10 per person. Please be prepared to pay with cash or credit card before boarding the bus. Reservations began online prior to Convention; announcements will be made about openings. We will load the busses after lunch on Saturday at 1:30 p.m. and return to the Marriott at 5:30 p.m.
Make the most of your afternoon with a tour of the City of Angels. From the Walk of Fame to Rodeo Drive, this double-decker bus tour will take Zetas around Los Angeles, stopping at several attractions along the way. The busses will depart from the Marriott and travel to Hollywood, stopping by the TCL Chinese Theatre, Walk of Fame and the Dolby Theater, where the Academy Awards occur each year. You will catch a glimpse of the famous Hollywood sign and maybe even spot some celebrities! You will take in Beverly Hills and a quick shopping stop on Rodeo Drive.

Speakers Three years after graduating from The University of Georgia, Bonney Stamper Shuman left her secure job as a bank manager to partner with a friend to sell bar code technology. In 1983, bar codes were a virtually unknown technology—a seemingly meaningless arrangement of lines of various widths and spacing and numbers. In a few years, Bar Code Systems grew into a major corporation with The Home Depot, Napa/ Genuine Parts, Sara Lee, Federated Department Stores, Saks and CocaCola as its clients.

During this growth, Bonney served ZTA as a Province President and as Vice President Collegiate II from 1993 to 1995. In 1998, her company became Stratix Corporation, concentrating on total solutions and new software products. By 2011, Stratix, with Bonney as its Chief Executive Officer, had 160 employees and just over $150 million in revenue. Bonney is now retired and devotes her time to volunteering with a school board of trustees, community foundation, her church and The University of Georgia Alumni Board. Her daughter, Mary Ellen, is a member of Gamma Pi Chapter at The University of Georgia.
