香港話劇團建團於1977年,於2001年公司化,獲

Theatre in Wangfujing, as part of the Meet in Beijing Festival. Everything worked together: a well-known novel by a legendary writer, a strong cast with stars in the leads, a flowing script judiciously punctuated by lyrical songs and graceful dancing, succinct Chinese and English surtitles, brilliant costumes, handsome and effective staging. With our Artistic Director taking personal charge, we had all it took to whip up the enthusiasm of audiences and win rounds and rounds of applause. Perhaps of even more significance was the fact that the peripatetic production brought us up close to the press, the critics, the professionals and the community where we played, and won them all over. Many of those audiences in North America would not have heard of HKRep before: the last time we played there as a company was in 1989. This time, we gave

Collaborations and Tours The Company enjoyed a significant year in respect of its collaborations with mainland arts groups and its overseas tours. Noteworthy among these was the Shanghai Dramatic Arts Centre’s visit to Hong Kong to present the Tony Award - and Pulitzer Prize - winning work, Proof Proof, in tandem with the Company’s production of the same play in Cantonese last July. This endeavour not only helped promote cultural exchange, but also aroused among our audience substantial interest in the two versions. Indeed, the success of this collaboration paved the way for, and confirmed the feasibility of, a vital new avenue for the Company: producing suitable plays in Cantonese and Putonghua, or even their English original, as a way of satisfying the tastes of various audiences. Our own tour to Shanghai last October with the Cantonese version of Love in a Fallen City was a pioneering attempt at reaching the non-Cantonese-speaking market. We played 6 performances to an audience totalling 2,662. Guest artists Tony Leung and Alice Lau received the 16th Shanghai Magnolia Stage Performance Best Actor and Best Supporting Actress awards for their roles in the production, which on the whole was very well received. Following a tour to Canada and the United States, the play was brought to Beijing in May 2006 for the Meet in Beijing Festival, where it played another 6 performances to full houses in

《鄭和與成祖》
Zheng He and the Emperor 近代考証,鄭和可能是「發現世界」的第一人,其一生充滿傳奇,成就非凡。正史記載 資料有限,本劇人物及情節參考史實,按情理而創作。 朱棣(成祖)、道衍、鄭和是惺惺相惜的「知己」,在封建社會中因為「身份」而關係 錯綜複雜,人生際遇及性情亦各有變化。 朱棣是明太祖第四子,才能出眾,因母親是高麗人而失去繼承王位的機會,他要改變命 運只有訴諸武力,終迷失於權力物慾之中; 道衍是智者,勘破俗情,不守世人規範,雖道化鄭和,輔朱棣成大業,但未能解鄭和、 朱棣災困,濟世不成,遁跡山林,只有尋求自我的超越; 鄭和身體傷殘,屢受打擊,陷於權鬥而僅免於死,摯愛親人也保不了,幸而走入海洋的 廣闊天空,豁達胸襟為後世及普天下創建祥和大觀世界。 是非成敗,各有際遇,各有得失,足堪世人借鑒反思。 Zheng He, according to recent archaeological evidence, is arguably the first person who discovered the world? His life with its remarkable achievements is a complex drama. This play dramatizes his life by expanding on the scarce official historical records about him. Emperor Zhu Di of Ming Dynasty, Master Dao Yan and Zheng He are confidants. But in the feudalistic society, their relationship is complicated by their vastly divided status. As dramatic events occurred in their lives, their characters were gradually transformed. Zhu Di, the fourth son of the first Emperor of Ming Dynasty, was highly competent but since his mother was a Korean, he had no chance of succeeding the throne. In order to seize the crown, he resorted to violence and was eventually trapped in the labyrinth of power struggle. Master Dao Yan was a saga. He was not enslaved by mundane desires and values. He inspired Zheng He and helped Zhu Di succeeding the throne but he could not solve the conflict between Zheng He and Zhu Di. At the end, he could only turn to be a recluse in the mountain and seek for spiritual transcendence. Zheng He was castrated and endured numerous ordeals. He couldn’t protect his most beloved relatives. In fact, he scarcely survived the power struggle in the court. Fortunately he found his solace in the wide ocean. His open mind left the world with a peaceful vision. All three characters underwent significant changes in their lives and had their own accomplishment or failure. Their story is no doubt a good lesson for the world.

為了照顧患上精神分裂症的父親,年輕的凱 瑟琳放棄學業,在家一心一意照顧這位擁有 極度天才的數學家。父親去世後,悲傷的凱 瑟琳一度陷入混亂。姐姐從紐約回家,一心 要帶她離開芝加哥到紐約過上正常生活。父 親的學生在整埋老師遺留下來的一百多本筆 記的過程中,愛上了敏感、狂熱和倔強的凱 瑟琳。這本是撫平凱瑟琳傷痛和讓她面對未 來人生的轉折點,可是一本記錄著驚世數學 論証的筆記本,卻又一次讓凱瑟琳陷入了情 感傷痛之中。 The drama takes place on a Chicago porch and centers around 4 people; Catherine’s mentally ill mathematician father (Robert) who has just died. Catherine’s elder sister (Claire) who has come back home for their father’s funeral, a Chicago University student (Harold) who is attempting to glean knowledge from Robert’s personal papers, and Catherine herself, a young woman who has spent the last five years of her life looking for her father. The story begins when Claire arrives, expecting Catherine to sell her father’s house and move with her to New York. Meanwhile, Harold discovers a brilliant mathematical proof amongst Robert’s papers, which Catherine announces to be hers. Claire and Harold are, however, dismissive of Catherine’s claims. Adding fuel to the fire is Claire’s belief that her younger sister may have inherited their father’s mental instability.

在40年代初的上海,白流蘇離婚後一直住在娘家,由於家人的冷嘲熱諷,令她恨不得盡快離開這個是非地。 在媒人徐太太的安排下,白流蘇遇上從海外回流正要和她的七妹相親的范柳原。范相中陪客的白,後來更委 託徐太太請白到香港相聚,而白亦一口應允。 香港的淺水灣酒店成了范與白的拉鋸情場:范對白是忽冷忽熱,而且還不獨對她好,同時也對另外的女子一 視同仁,令白難以適應。 在這時候,把自己押下去賭一鋪的白孤注一擲,以退為進,一個人回到上海。范等不了多久就急電白,不但 請她回到香港,還給了她一個「家」。只是白仍然沒有個「名份」。 1941年12月初香港淪陷前,范白二人當時是分隔兩地。當范氣急敗壞地跑回家中,尋得嚇壞了的白,兩人方 發覺對方在自己生命中的重要性,范終於提出一待戰爭結束就與白正式結婚。 很多年以後,在上海白家…… In the early 40s in Shanghai, Bai Liusu, a divorcee, is staying with her own family. Yet it is a place of gossip and she is desperate to escape. Mrs. Xu, the matchmaker, arranges for Bai’s sister to have a blind date with Fan Liuyuan, a playboy just back from overseas. Bai accompanies her sister to meet Fan but it turns out that Fan falls for Bai. After their first encounter, Fan asks Mrs. Xu to invite Bai to come to Hong Kong to meet him. Bai agrees right away, ignoring all the gossip about her. The Repulse Bay Hotel becomes a place for tug-of-war between Fan and Bai. They get along well one day but then are at odds on another. He is being kind not only to her but also other women. Bai knows that if this tug-of-war lingers on, she may lose the battle completely. She decides to return to Shanghai. Not long after, Fan waits for Bai to arrive at the pier in Hong Kong. He gives her a “home” but she still does not get the “status” of being married. When the Japanese troops are bombing the Hong Kong Island, Bai and Fan are separated. When Fan rushes back to the house and finds Bai waiting for him there, they then know that they treasure each other so much. Fan then proposes to Bai and they plan to get married right after the War is over. Many years later, at the Bai’s house in Shanghai...

《小飛俠之幻影迷踪》 Peter Pan
這是小飛俠與溫蒂的故事: 已為人母的溫蒂在女兒床邊為她說故事,講述她年輕時與小飛俠及小仙 女的驚險旅程。她記得小時候,她的長輩給她準備了一個驚喜生日派 對,那一夜她興奮得難以入眠,小飛俠就在這時現身她睡房窗前。小飛 俠更飛進來說服她和她的弟弟們一同飛往充滿童話人物和驚險旅程的夢 幻島。那裡她遇上一群正在尋找他們的母親的迷失豆丁,溫蒂樂於擔當 母親的角色。 他們為溫蒂建造一所房子,期間他們遇上印第安人、美人魚、鱷魚和邪 惡的鐵 鉤船長和他的海盜嘍囉,小飛俠帶頭打敗鐵 鉤船長。最後溫蒂想 回家,而她的父母也十分想念他們的子女。他們終於回到了家,大家都 十分高興。當溫蒂回想起發生在夢幻島的往事,整個故事就仿似是美夢 一場。 This is a story of Peter Pan and Wendy: The grown-up Wendy putting her daughter Jane to bed and telling her about her adventures with Peter Pan and the fairy Tinkerbell when she was a young girl. She remembers all her aunts and uncles giving her a surprise birthday and that same night, excited and hardly able to sleep she saw Peter Pan fly through her bedroom window. Peter Pan pursuaded her and her brothers Michael and John to fly off with him to Never Land, a magical land full of story characters and adventures. There she met the Lost Boys, a group of orphans searching for a mother and Wendy was delighted to play the role of mother. As they built a house for her to live in, the boys, her brothers and her encountered Indians, mermaids, a crocodile and the evil Captain Hook and his pirates. Peter Pan led the fight with the pirates and defeated Captain Hook and his men. Finally, Wendy wanted to go home and at the end of the play we see her return to her parents who missed their children so much and were delighted they have come back. The whole story is like a dream as Wendy remembers all that happened in the magical land where all stories meet: Never Land.

何太、慕容太和陳太是三位充滿感情障礙、家庭牽絆與理想梗塞的師 奶。日復一日的生活磨難,令她們頓然喪失了生存目的。她們不打不相 識,不是寃 家不聚頭,共同為一個模糊不堪的夢想前進。她們經常指指 點點,人云亦云,先入為主,出爾反爾,分享樂與憂的同時,亦同時互 相踐踏,互相鞭策。 掙扎在狼虎之年與更年期的狹縫之中,三位師奶決定組成樂隊,參加一 個名不見經傳的搖滾樂比賽。為求突破裹足不前的生活框框,她們迸發 出驚人的冒險精神,出入鴨店、搞婚外情、賣體味校服、服食不眠中藥 …… 上帝創造女人的時候說過:「我讓她很特別,我使她的肩膀能挑起整個 世界的重擔;並且,又柔情似水。」 Mrs. Ho, Mrs. Muyong and Mrs. Chan are three desperate housewives. They have problems in love. Their families dragged them down. They have no dreams at all. Monotonous life has stifled them. They have got to know each other incidentally. They walk hand in hand striving for a vague vision. They always complain but they have no opinions of their own. They are subjective but they always change their mind. They share their feelings but at the same time they look down on each other. In their middle age, the three housewives decide to form a band and enter an unknown rock’n roll contest. 2號舞台節 由全體演員擔綱不同的創作崗位,在 戲劇指導何偉龍及馮蔚衡協助下,演員們自編、自 導、自演八個不同的創意小品。 Under the supervision of dramaturges Ho Wai-lung and Fung Wai-hang, Rep 2 Festival, a drama festival undertaken by the Rep’s acting company, presented eight creative productions for which actors played various roles as playwrights, directors, actors and codevelopers.

2005/06年度,香港話劇團繼續秉承推廣戲劇藝 術,提升市民文化素質的使命,舉辦了多項外展及教育 活動。
In pursuit of its mission to promote the theatre arts and to contribute to the cultural assets of Hong Kong, the Hong Kong Repertory Theatre again organised a series of outreach and educational activities last year.

Under this Plan, we additionally collaborated with the Po Leung Kuk’s Proactive Concern Centre for the Elderly to run an acting workshop, Infinity of Care, which comprised 12 sessions of acting lessons and 2 ‘graduation’ shows. More just meet set targets, these activities substantially helped the Rep expand its audience base among the elderly. The Rep also arranged seminars, talks and drama appreciation gatherings for the Hong Kong Baptist University, the Chinese University of Hong Kong and various secondary schools throughout the territory.

(1) GENERAL
( 一)簡介 本公司為一間無股本的擔保有限責任公司。按照公司組 織章程,倘在本公司清算時,每位會員對於本公司債務 之償還均需承擔,但每位承擔數目,以不超過港幣一百 元為限。 本公司之業務為推動及發展戲劇文化,培養及提升大眾 對戲劇及其他藝術的興趣和品味。 本公司的註冊地址為香港皇后大道中345 號上環市政大 廈4 樓。
( 二)主要會計政策摘要 編製本財務報表採納之主要會計政策載列如下。除特別 註明外,這些政策已於所有呈列年度貫徹採用。
(甲)編製帳目之基準 編製本財務報表乃按照香港會計師公會頒佈的香港 財務報告準則,包括香港會計準則及銓釋,香港公 認會計原則以及香港公司法例。本財務報表乃按歷 史成本規定編製。 編製符合香港財務報告準則的財務報表須採用若干 主要會計估計,管理層也須在應用本公司的會計政 策時作出判斷。惟無範圍須要更高程度的判斷或複 雜性,或對財務報表而言須要重大的假設和估計。
The Company is limited by guarantee, such that under the provisions of the Company’s memorandum of association, every member shall, in the event of the Company being wound up, contribution such amount may be required to meet the liabilities of the Company but not exceeding HK$100 per member. The Company continued to engage in promotion, maintenance, improvements and advancement of the interest of the public in Hong Kong and elsewhere in drama and various related art forms. The address of its registered office is 4/F., Sheung Wan Municipal Services Building, 345 Queen’s Road Central, Hong Kong.
(2) SUMMARY OF SIGNIFICANT ACCOUNTING POLICIES The significant accounting policies adopted in the preparation of these financial statements are set out as below. These policies have been consistently applied to all the years presented, unless otherwise stated.
(a) Basis of preparation The financial statements have been prepared in accordance with Hong Kong Financial Reporting Standards (“HKFRS”) which also include Hong Kong Accounting Standards ( “HKAS”) and Interpretations (“Int”) issued by the Hong Kong Institute of Certified Public Accountants, accounting principles generally accepted in Hong Kong and the Hong Kong Companies Ordinance. They have been prepared under the historical cost convention.

The preparation of financial statements in conformity with HKFRS requires the use of certain critical accounting estimates. It also requires management to exercise its judgement in the process of applying the Company’s accounting policies. However, there are no areas involving a higher degree of judgement or complexity, or areas where assumptions and estimates are significant to the financial statements. Initial assessment has indicated that the adoption of these HKFRSs would not have a significant impact on the Company’s financial statements in the year of initial application. The Company will be continuing with the assessment of the impact of these HKFRSs and other significant changes may be identified as a result.
(b) Property, plant and equipment Property, plant and equipment are stated at historical cost less accumulated depreciation and anyaccumulated impairment losses. Historical cost includes expenditure that is directly attributableto the acquisition of the items. Previously, Property, plant and equipment are written off at the time of acquisition. Effective from the beginning of this year the council members of the Company have resolved to comply with the provisions of HKAS 16 to depreciate the property, plant and equipment at the annual rate of 33.33% to write off their costs

less any accumulated impairment losses to their residual values (if any) over their estimated useful lives on a straight line basis. This represents a change in accounting policy which have been adopted prospectively by reducing the operating expenses and increasing the surplus for the year by HK$537,297. Subsequent costs are included in the asset’s carrying amount or recognised as a separate asset, as appropriate, only when it is probable that future economic benefits associated with the item will flow to the Company and the cost of the item can be measured reliably. All other repairs and maintenance are expensed in the income statement during the financial period in which they are incurred. The assets’ residual value (if any) and useful lives are reviewed and adjusted if appropriate, at each balance sheet date. At item of property, plant and equipment is derecognised upon disposal or when no future economic benefits are expected to arise from the continued use of the asset. The gain or loss arising on derecognition of the asset, calculated as the difference between the net disposal proceeds and the carrying amount of the item, is included in the income statement in the period the item is derecognised. An asset’s carrying amount is written down immediately to its recoverable amount if the asset’s carrying amount is greater than its estimated recoverable amount (note (2)(c)).

(c) Impairment of assets Assets that have an indefinite useful life are not subject to amortisation, which are at least tested annually for impairment and are reviewed for impairment whenever events or changes in circumstances indicate that the carrying amount may not be recoverable. Assets that are subject to amortisation are reviewed for impairment whenever events or changes in circumstances indicate that the carrying amount may not be recoverable. An impairment loss is recognised for the amount by which the asset’s carrying amount exceeds its recoverable amount. The recoverable amount is the higher of an asset’s fair value less costs to sell and value in use. For the purposes of assessing impairment, assets are grouped at the lowest levels for which there are separately identifiable cash flows (cash-generating units).
(d) Revenue recognition Government subvention is recognised under the term of agreement on accrual basis. Box office income, outreach and touring activities fees and workshop fees are recognised when the performance presented. Donations and sponsorship received are recognised on cash receipt basis. Interest income is recognised on a time-proportion basis using the effective interest method. When a receivable is impaired, the Company reduces the carrying amount to its recoverable amount, being the estimated future cash flow discounted at original effective interest rate of the instrument, and continues unwinding the discount as interest income. Interest income on impaired loans is recognised either as cash is collected or on a cost-recovery basis as conditions warrant.

(戊)經營租約 資產擁有權之所有風險及回報實質上仍歸於出租人 之租約乃列為經營租約。本公司為承租人其應付租 金扣除出租人給予之優惠後,以直線法按各自之租 約年期於收益賬扣除。
(己)撥備 就環境復修、重建費用及法律索償作出撥備,當本 公司因已發生之事件而產生現有之法律或推定責 任;較可能需要有資源流出以償付責任;及金額已 經可靠估計。重建撥備包括租賃終止罰款及僱員離 職付款。不就未來營運虧損確認撥備。 倘有多項類似責任,其需要在償付中流出資源之可 能性,根據責任之類別整體考慮。即使在同一責任 類別所包含之任何一個項目相關之資源流出之可能 性極低,仍須確認撥備。
(庚)僱員福利 (1) 補償休假 僱員享有有薪年假之權利在僱員應得時確認。 本公司會就僱員於截至結算日提供服務之補償 休假之估計責任作出撥備。 僱員享有有薪病假在僱員申領時確認。
(2) 退休福利成本 本公司根據香港強制性公積金計劃條例對定額 供款退休計劃(「強積金計劃」)作出供款,給 全體合資格參與僱員。本公司之供款於產生時 列作開支。本公司之僱主供款部份在作出供款 時,全數歸僱員所有。
(辛)關連人士 在下列情況下,一方即為本公司之關連人士: (i)
(e) Operating leases Leases in which a significant portion of the risks and rewards of ownership are retained by the lessor are classified as operating leases. Where the Company is lessee, payments made under operating leases (net of any incentives received from the lessor) are expensed in the income statement on a straight line basis over the period of the lease.
(f) Provisions Provisions for environment restoration, restructuring costs and legal claims are recognised when: the Company has a present legal or constructive obligation as a result of past events; it is more likely than not that an outflow of resources will be required to settle the obligation; and the amount has been reliably estimated. Restructuring provisions comprise lease termination penalties and employee termination payments. Provisions are not recognised for future operating losses. Where there are a number of similar obligations, the likelihood that an outflow will be required in settlement is determined by considering the class of obligations as a whole. A provision is recognised even if the likelihood of an outflow with respect to any one item included in the same class of obligations may be small.
(g) Employee benefits (i) Employee leave entitlement Employee entitlements to annual leave are recognised when they accrue to employees. A provision is made for the estimated liability for annual leave and long service leave as a result of services rendered by employees up to the balance sheet date. Employee entitlement to sick leave and maternity or paternity leave are not recognised until the time of the leave.
(ii) Retirement benefit costs The Company’s contributions to the defined contribution retirement scheme set up pursuant to the Hong Kong Mandatory Provident Fund Schemes Ordinance (the “MPF” Scheme) for all qualifying employees are expensed as incurred. The Company’s employer contributions vest fully with the employees when contributed into the MPF Scheme.

(i) Cash and cash equivalents Cash and cash equivalents include cash in hand, deposits held at call with banks, other short-term highly liquid investments with original maturities of three months or less, and bank overdrafts.
(j) Trade and other receivable Trade and other receivables are recognised initially at fair value and subsequently measured at amortised cost using the effective interest method, less provision for impairment. A provision for impairment of trade and other receivables is established when there is objective evidence that the Company will not be able to collect all amounts due according to the original terms of receivables. The amount of the provision is the difference between the asset’s carrying amount and the present value of estimated future cash flows, discounted at the effective interest rate. The amount of the provision is recognised in the income statement.

(k) Taxation The Company is a non-profit-making charitable organisation and the charge for taxation is exempted. The surplus, if any, is not distributable to its members, therefore, it is inappropriate to account for deferred taxation in the financial statements.

The development fund was used for non-subvented projects which fall outside the ambit of Government Subvention; the income statement was separated from that for Government Subvention’s Financial statements and the sources for the fund was not come from the Government; the fund is to be used for matching any recurrent and non-recurrent financial commitments created by acceptance of donation for specific purpose.
(m) Trade and other payables Trade and other payables are initially measured at fair value and, after initial recognition, at amortised cost, except for short-term payables with no stated interest rate and the effect of discounting being immaterial, that are measured at their original invoiced amount.

The Company’s overall risk management programme focuses on the unpredictability of financial markets and seeks to minimise potential adverse effects on the Company’s financial performance as follows:

The main income of the Company is subvention from the Government in which there should not have any credit risk in this respect. The Company has no significant concentration of credit risk, with wide spread of numerous customers for ticket proceeds.

(b) 流動資金風險 本公司之流動資金風險出現在於由購票日至顧客結 帳的時間差。考慮到本公司現金及現金等值價物, 本公司之流動資金風險程度是非常細小。

(b) Liquidity risk The Company is exposed to liquidity risk arising from timing difference between date of sales and settlement from customers. However, the degree of this liquidity risk is immaterial having regards to the amount of cash and cash equivalents on hand.
本公司之收入及經營資金流動實質上獨立於市場利 率,而本公司大約有港幣九百萬短期銀行定期,於 續期時的利率是跟隨市場利率改變。
(c) Cash flow interest rate risk The Company’s income and operating cash flows are substantially independent of changes in market interest rates. The Company has about HK$9 million of short-term deposits at banks at interest rates subject to changes of the market interest rate at the time of renewal.
