我在此謹代表香港話劇團歡迎所有參節的藝術家和他們的劇作,包括 在今年 4 月已率先亮相、由阿姆斯特丹劇團演出的《人聲》,此劇除了 獲得觀眾的熱烈迴響外,更為國際黑盒劇場節掀起序幕。緊接下來的 10 月和 11 月,香港觀眾將可於本團黑盒劇場,觀賞來自威爾斯及臺 灣、日本、南韓和香港的精彩製作,部份演出更是跨地域合作,也可 視為國際劇場創意火花交織的文化交流! 國際黑盒劇場節 2016 的主題是「文本霓虹 — 折射人文光譜」。顧名思 義,演出呈現了戲劇文本不同的形式,例如經典的演繹、新文本的寫 法、突破的結構,以至集體創作等。當代存在著複雜的情感關係,乃 至人與人、國與國之間迥異的思維模式,在國際黑盒劇場節中將以廣 闊的想像和創意,引領觀眾探索人文精神的多元面貌。 除了演出外,我們也很重視創作人的「現身說法」,今屆國際黑盒劇場 節設有不同類型的工作坊及講座,由參節的戲劇工作者親自介紹他們 創作的理念和心得,以至分享他們獨特的創作方法,供香港同業作研 習之用,機會實在難逢! 衷心感謝所有國際黑盒劇場節的伙伴機構,特別是荷蘭領事館、英國 文化協會和香港演藝學院戲劇學院的大力支持。我熱切期待香港觀眾 踴躍參與,在黑盒劇場感受「劇場全球化」的懾人魅力!

Hong Kong Repertory Theatre is honoured to present another lineup this year. Our selections feature renowned directors, playwrights and professors as well as accomplished young practitioners from around the world. A total of six highly anticipated, stylistically different productions will be presented in Hong Kong! On behalf of the HKREP, I’d like to extend a warm welcome to our visiting artists and their productions, including the Toneelgroep Amsterdam that already graced our stage in April with La voix humaine to tremendous acclaim. La voix humaine was a prelude to our International Black Box Festival. In October and November, audiences can enjoy wonderful productions from Wales / Taiwan, Japan, South Korea and Hong Kong, some of which are collaborations across different regions. They are the products of cultural encounters resulting in a multitude of creative synergy! The theme of this year’s Black Box Festival is “The Colours of Humanity”. Our offerings include a variety of dramatic treatments, from classic translations to exploration of new writing, from breakthroughs in dramatic structure to works created collectively. We live in an age of complicated emotions and relationships that affect not only the nature of human connection but also our thinking beyond national boundaries. We aim to provide our audiences with a wide vista where imagination and creativity roam free among the many facets of our collective, civilized spirit. Our Festival has always presented supplemental activities to our live performances. Because it’s imperative that creators be given channels to “share their stories”, we have organized a series of workshops and talks providing a platform for visiting artists to talk about their creations and concepts firsthand. These are rare opportunities for Hong Kong’s theatre practitioners and enthusiasts to learn from others!

A powerful work about castration and politics, Descendants of the Eunuch Admiral recounts the legacy of the man responsible for China’s most extensive maritime expeditions in the 15th century, the legendary eunuch, Admiral Zheng He. Using the metaphor of castration, parallels are drawn between the power struggles of court eunuchs and the displacement of modern human beings who make sacrifices in their lives in order to survive in the highly competitive and industrious society.

The 9 fridas is written by playwright Kaite O’Reilly from Wales and directed by Prof. Phillip Zarrilli who has developed a system of actor training emphasising psychophysical acting. He will lead a cast of performers from Taiwan and Hong Kong to bring to life the different faces of the world’s most famous female artist, Frida Kahlo. The 9 fridas is not simply a traditional biographical work, but a new writing form of narrative theatre utilizing soliloquy, dialogue, video footage and narration to create and examine the artist’s struggles in life, and to shed light on situations today.

丈夫出外公幹半年後回家,發現家中空無一人。前一晚,他明 明還在跟太太通電話。 突然出現的地產經紀帶來一個秘密,令丈夫大感不惑。 牽牛花生滿屋和天花板,看來屋已經丟空了一段日子。妻子究 竟身在何方? 《朝顏》是佃典彥特地為參與是次國際黑盒劇場節而創作的全 新戲碼,編劇之餘更親自擔綱演出。故事時空穿插、片段交 錯、情節荒誕,當中不乏幽默諷刺,同時滲出絲絲無奈。

After working away from home for six months, a husband returns, only to find that the house is empty. Last night, he was still speaking to his wife on the phone. An estate agent appears all of a sudden, revealing a secret in the process. The husband is left in even greater confusion. The wall and the ceiling are overgrown with morning glory vines, suggesting that the house has been left vacant for a while. Is his wife whom he hasn’t seen for a long time still in the house, or is she gone for good? Asagao is a new work created by playwright Tsukuda Norihiko for International Black Box Festival 2016. Time, space and fragments of events cross over each other; underneath the sharp sarcasm behind a series of absurd events is a lingering sense of helplessness.

My body is an instrument. Do you know the pain? Within these four walls, how will they fair by themselves? 《之前之後》以時間分段,講述災難前後社會上的轉變。災難 降臨,天崩地裂,把周遭一切分割成兩個世界。是什麼讓我們 感受到此災難對自身生活的影響? 成秀娟目睹罹患癌症的父親逐步走近死亡 ; 蔡山河的朋友離 世後,他感到有所虧欠 ; 張誠益受襲後幾乎失明,落入恐懼 無助當中 ; 金達軒在 2014 年 4 月 16 日於喜馬拉雅山上遠足 ; 羅景敏翻看從前的日記,回首往昔 ; 張修珍戲劇化政府的行 動和感受。 一樁大事件與幾個人物在事件前後的經歷相互交錯。同時,台 上「我」的經歷,竟與「你」所處身的空間驟然相遇。

Before After is divided into sections based on time. It shows the changes that occur before and after a devastating event. A time before and after is created after a tragic, irreversible event. What experiences do we go through that make us realize that an event has affected “our” lives? The play Before After begins by answering this question.

Soo-yeon Sung has gradually witnessed the death of her father who has cancer. San-ha Chae feels indebted after his friend’s death. Sung-ik Jang, who has almost lost his sight due to the assault he suffers in the hands of the government, has fallen into a state of helplessness. Da-huin Kim is trekking in the Himalayas on April 16, 2014. Kyung-min Na retraces those times gone by from his diary and memories. Su-jin Jang dramatizes the actions and feelings of the government. The play uses a pivotal event in our society that intersects with before and after events that occur in different people’s lives. What happens as a point in “my” time on stage suddenly meets “your” space.

演員和舞者的奧菲莉亞 — 從 舞踏譜通往文本演繹 A Performer’s Words: Awakening Text through Butoh-fu 舞踏譜是舞踏始創人土方巽記錄舞蹈動作的特有方法,以語 言啟發表演者進入細緻的想像時間和空間,以創造肢體動作 和意象。 在工作坊內,我們先一起探訪以史坦尼斯拉夫斯基體系的文 本演繹路徑,從人物的心理分析出發,以台詞和行動傳遞一 個活的當下。 之後,我們便跳進舞踏譜的世界,從一系列不同的肢體指引 和控制,進入更深層和直接的身體連繫,享受傳達文本的自 由和多樣性,感受語言在劇場內的真正力量和意義。 Butoh notation (Butoh-fu) is a method of choreography that uses words to create an imaginative time and space, physicalizing imagery through words. During the workshop, we will (re)visit the psychological approach towards text / script performance as outlined by the Stanislavsky system of acting - character objectives, given circumstances and the moment of fresh impulses in an imaginary reality. Then we will plunge into the world of Butoh-fu, seeking a visceral and poetic connection through its refined bodily perimeters, so as to experience a new freedom and richness in delivering text and awaken the true power of language in the theatre.

進劇場聯合藝術總監。畢業於香港芭蕾舞學院,隨後於 香港演藝學院攻讀戲劇,連續三年獲校內最傑出女演員 獎。畢業後,加入香港話劇團。1991 年赴倫敦深造, 92 年與紀文舜成立進劇場,在英國及歐洲等地進行創 作及教學。95 年回港,繼續創作及導演所有進劇場的 原創劇目,並分別憑《魚戰役溫柔》及《闖進一棵橡樹 的年輪》獲香港舞台劇獎最佳女主角 ; 亦憑《4.48 精 神崩潰》獲香港小劇場獎最佳女主角。自 01 年起隨美 莉茵.費花接受魁根斯方法的訓練。 Bonni Chan is the Co-Artistic Director of Theatre du Pif. She graduated from the Hong Kong Academy of Ballet and went on to study acting at the Hong Kong Academy for Performing Arts, winning the Best Actress of the Year award for three consecutive years. After graduating, she joined the Hong Kong Repertory Theatre and performed in a number of productions. In 1991 she moved to London to study with various teachers, and in 1992 founded Theatre du Pif with Sean Curran. Since returning to Hong Kong in 1995, she has continued to devise and direct Theatre du Pif’s over twenty original productions locally and abroad. She was awarded Best Actress for Fish Heads and Tales – a tender war and The Oak Tree – An Odyssey at the Hong Kong Drama Awards and for 4.48 Psychosis at the Hong Kong Theatre Libre.

和栗由紀夫為舞踏大師土方巽的門生及石棉館之首席男 舞者,有四十年豐富的舞踏經驗。他以優秀的舞踏技 巧、具深度的舞踏表現功力,以及纖細微妙銳美的舞踏 身形而著名。多年來致力將舞踏的當代身體性與古典精 神性結合、研究其多重變化,通過身體意象,創造了舞 踏新的可能性 — 舞踏是一種深具未來性的肢體表演藝 術。 此外,和栗由紀夫繼承和發展了土方巽系統的「舞踏 譜」,注重與其他藝術家的流派合作。他在 1998 年出版了 《舞踏花伝》,提出重新評估土方巽舞踏系統的機會。目前,除 了各種演出活動,和栗由紀夫長年於日本國內及世界各地的大學和 研究機構帶領舞踏工作坊與講座。 Waguri Yukio started dancing in Hijikata Tatsumi’s company in 1972 and was the male principal dancer from 1972 to 1978. Since his stage debut in Hijikata’s piece 27 Nights for Four Seasons (1973), Waguri has kept numerous notes on Hijikata’s teaching method and choreography, which now constitutes the bulk of his own butoh-fu exploration and teachings as the artistic director and founder of Kohzensha Butoh Company. His main focus while choreographing or teaching is on transforming oneself through imagery rather than the mere ‘doing’ of movement. Waguri's own dance is often said to be as solid as crystal, lithe and smart as a leopard, subtle and light as a willow. His performances are tightly choreographed from butoh-fu rather than improvisational. In 2004, Waguri published a video, Butoh Kaden, which has been well-received from both scholars and theatre practitioners as it was first of its kind unveiling the essence of Hijikata’s Butoh notation and choreographic methods.

靈感從何而來?怎樣由一個靈感出發,將之發展成一個完整 的劇本? 本工作坊將以如何由照片及自傳式的紀錄裡找尋靈感,探索 不同的出發點,再演變成演出文本。

劇作家凱特.奧萊莉將會指導參加者一系列的寫作練習 : 由 角色導向的獨白、對話到詠頌隊頌唱,一起經歷一次《九面 芙烈達》的寫作旅程。更會引用《九面芙烈達》的一些選 段,解構並疏理當中的寫作過程。參加者將會領略新的寫作 技巧,並明白如何刺激思維,燃點那創意之火。

Where do ideas come from? How do we take an initial seed and grow it into a full length play? These workshops explore different starting points when writing for performance, finding inspiration in visual images and biographical materials to ignite the creative spark.

語言無障礙 :共融演出 In Any Language: Inclusive Performance 英國得獎劇作家、知名展能藝術推手凱特.奧萊莉將會分享 她二十五年來在共融藝術領域的創作與經驗。講座將會介紹 英國展能文化的框架,回顧凱特.奧萊莉製作的多個共融演 出作品,以及分享她與聽障藝術家的合作經驗。講者亦會透 過錄像片段詮釋如何利用口述 / 視覺的語言實踐她的「通達 美學」,以《水中失重》 (威爾斯國家劇院 / 南岸中心 )、《花 女》及其他收錄在她的劇本集《非一般劇本給非一般演員》 的作品為例子。講座亦設問答環節,講者將與大家討論實踐 方法及對未來共融劇場的展望。

Kaite O’Reilly Kaite O’Reilly has won many awards for her work including the Peggy Ramsay Award, M.E.N. best play of the year and the Ted Hughes Award for New Works in Poetry for her new version of Aeschylus’s Persians for National Theatre Wales. In 2012 she received a Cultural Olympiad Commission for In Water I’m Weightless produced by National Theatre Wales at Southbank Centre as part of the official festival celebrating the London Olympic and Paralympics. In 2014 she had productions in translation in Estonia, Belgium, Taiwan and a UK tour of Woman of Flowers. Playing ‘the Maids’ with Theatre P’Yut (Korea), Gaitkrash (Ireland) and The Llanarth Group (Wales) premiered in Cardiff in early 2015, and Cosy premiered in March 2016 at the Wales Millennium Centre, also directed by Phillip Zarrilli. This script, and others around human difference and disability are published in Atypical Plays for Atypical Actors, published by Oberon Books.

In this demonstration, playwright and theatre maker Kaite O’Reilly will talk about her work over twenty five years in inclusive practice. A leading figure in the UK’s disability arts scene, and an award-winning ‘mainstream’ playwright, she will reflect on her work within disability culture, collaborations between hearing and deaf artists, and in inclusive productions. She will show video examples of her use of the ‘aesthetics of access’ from In Water I’m Weightless (National Theatre Wales / Southbank Centre / Unlimited Festival), spoken / visual languages in Woman of Flowers and other work from her selected inclusive plays Atypical Plays for Atypical Actors (Oberon). There will be an opportunity for questions and discussion about best practice and what she views as the future of theatre: inclusive performance.

經典文本的蛻變過程 The Transformation of Classic Texts 透過是次工作坊,黃龍斌導演將闡釋他如何從新加坡劇場之 父郭寶崑先生的經典文本《鄭和的後代》中取材,借用其中 的文字及情景,對照今天的社會現象,並以形體和說話重塑 故事脈絡,演繹成獨特的版本。導演將帶領參加者一起經歷 從文字轉化成行動的過程。 Director Tony Wong will explain how he uses the forefather of Singaporean theatre, Kuo Pao-kun’s classic text Descendants of the Eunuch Admiral as the basis for his own work, of how he borrows texts and settings to reflect on today’s circumstances. He will demonstrate how, in his unique adaptation, movements and dialogue are used to reshape the story’s plotlines. Tony will take participants through the process of how texts became transformed as actions.

Tony Wong graduated from the Hong Kong Academy for Performing Arts (HKAPA) in 1997 with a Bachelor of Fine Arts (Honours) degree majoring in acting. He then joined the Chung Ying Theatre as a full-time actor, he played in such productions as Aladdin, A Tale of an Evanescent Mortal, The Midsummer Night’s Dream, The Alchemist and The First Emperor’s Last Day. A recipient of Hong Kong Federation of Drama Societies Scholarship to pursue his graduate studies in Australia, graduating with a master’s degree from the National Institute of Dramatic Art in Sydney, where he majored in movement studies. He currently serves as a lecturer in acting at the HKAPA. Tony has received recognition as a playwright, director, actor and choreographer, his multi-faceted talents making him a unique artist. To date, he has participated in more than ninety productions. Among his recent works are HKAPA’s Descendants of the Eunuch Admiral (director, adaptation and movement director), The Midsummer Night’s Dream, The Scholar and the Executioner (director and choreographer), My Days in Cat Town and The Taming of the Shrew (choreographer), The School for Scandal (director). His work with the Chung Ying Theatre includes Possible Worlds and The 39 Steps (director), The Government Inspector (director and choreographer), Amadeus (assistant director and actor), The Merchant of Venice and Flowers for Algernon (actor). He has played the multiple roles of playwright, director, actor and choreographer for Performer Studio’s Invincible Truth, Singlology, Moments in the Palm of Your Hand (Hong Kong, Singapore and Macau performances). He also was choreographer for the Hong Kong Repertory Theatre’s The Cherry Orchard and dance and stage combat choreographer for Richard III. He had also served as assistant movement director for Gallipoli for the Sydney Theatre Company. While at the National Institute of Dramatic Art, he wrote, directed, performed and choreographed in X. In 2004, Tony won an Actor Award at the Hong Kong Professional Awards. In 2006, he was awarded for Best Director (Comedy/Farce) and nominated Best Actor (Comedy/Farce) for Two of Us. At the 21st Hong Kong Drama Awards, he was nominated for Best Actor (Comedy/Farce) for Singlology. At the 22nd, 23rd, and 25th Hong Kong Drama Awards, he was nominated as Best Director (Comedy/Farce) for The Scholar and the Executioner, The 39 Steps and The Government Officials respectively. He was recently nominated as Best Director at the 8th Hong Kong Theatre Libre for Descendants of the Eunuch Admiral.

佃典彥的創作法則 Ways of Tsukuda Norihiko’s Creative Writing 著名劇作家佃典彥先生將暢談他的寫作心得,分享如何透過 文字選擇、概念整理、想像來構成他作品的風格。

佃典彥 Tsukuda Norihiko 1964 年出生於日本名古屋市,是一名劇作家及演員。 現為劇團 B 級遊擊隊領導人及日本劇作家協會會員。 擅於創作在日常生活中不可能發生,但在他的作品中會 突然發生的荒誕劇。除舞台劇外,亦創作了不少電影、 電視、電台廣播劇等劇本,同時亦創作大量以小學生為 對象的兒童劇。 主要作品包括 :《土管》、《KAN-KAN 男》及《脫皮爸 爸》。 曾獲得的主要獎項包括 : 第三屆名古屋市文化振興賞、第四屆 讀賣演劇大賞優秀作品賞、第五十屆岸田國士戲曲賞—《脫皮爸爸》。2013 年度 名古屋市民藝術祭賞—《滿月練習題》。

Playwright and actor Tsukuda Norihiko was born in Nagoya in 1964. A member of the Japan Playwrights Association, he co-founded the Bkyuyugekitai , where he currently serves as director. Tsukuda has a keen eye for the absurdity of everyday life, creating outlandish situations that exceed people’s imagination. Apart from stage plays, he has written for television, film and radio. He has also penned numerous works targeted to school-age children. Tsukuda’s major works include Dokan, Kan kan otoko and Shed Skin. Among his accolades are the 3rd Nagoya City Culture Promotion Award, 4th Yomiuri Theater Award for Best Play and the 50th Kishida Prize for Drama for Shed Skin. In 2013, he received the Nagoya Citizen’s Art Award for Full Moon Exercise.

Born in Basel, Switzerland in 1983, Kyung-sung Lee studied directing at Seoul’s Chung-Ang University before undertaking postgraduate studies at Royal Central School of Speech and Drama in London. He founded Creative VaQi in 2007 and serves as Artistic Director since then. Past works include Mobile Exhibition (2009), The Dream of Sancho (2010) (which took part in the Edinburgh Festival Fringe), The History of Gangnam (2011), and the Theatre Practice series (2013-2014), the most recent of which was performed in Seoul. Lee is a director with exceptional ability. He utilizes a diverse range of sensory stage language to convey the problems that confronting the modern society. He engages in genre-deconstructing, multimedia experiments and reduces dependence on text. In turn of maximizing the possibilities of a message’s multisensory transmissibility with an exacting and critical mindset while actively utilizing media, installation, and performance. He was awarded the 35th ITI Annual Young-hee Theatre Award 2016 and Best Young Director at Korean Theatre Awards 2015 for Before After, Doosan Artist Award 2014, and New Conception Theatre Award at Dong-A Theatre Awards 2010 for Let Us Move Your Sofa.
