香港話劇團藝術總監的話 一桌人文盛宴 寰宇文本芳華 「國際黑盒劇場節2016」正式與觀眾見面了! 「文本霓虹 折射人文光譜」為是次主題,我們旨在為香港觀眾介紹舞台上不同 風格的文本和結構,配合另類劇場形式,為香港話劇團黑盒劇場帶來不一樣的 戲劇風采! 荷蘭阿姆斯特丹劇團製作的《人聲》作為開幕節目,先在今年四月為觀眾送上 一次經典重現,我們得到觀眾熱烈支持。從比利時導演Ivo van Hove完美演繹, 足見八十年前的經典作品對當下仍有強大的批判功能! 接下來的五齣劇目,均來自不同地域,也會於今年10月至11月,一連六星期於 本團黑盒劇場內折射獨特的人文光譜。
Performer Studio《鄭和的後代》為香港代表,在導演黃龍斌的率領下,一班香 港演藝學院的畢業生傾力演出。此劇乃新加坡劇場之父郭寶崑先生的經典名 著,黃龍斌抽取文本的重點重新改編,並以形體劇場的方式呈現,既簡潔又活 潑地把歷史人物「鄭和」的遭遇與今天的情景對照,想像力豐富,玩味十足!加上一眾年輕演員的拼搏精神,當中所煥 發的青春火花,令人期待! 緊接的是臺灣莫比斯圓環創作公社、威爾斯創作人和本團合作的《九面芙烈達》。威爾斯編劇凱特.奧萊莉( Kaite O’Reilly)以「新文本」的寫作手法,深刻地描寫著名墨西哥女畫家芙烈達‧卡蘿(Frida Kahlo)的遭遇。芙烈達以傳統 彩衣和色彩奪目的一字眉自畫像流芳百世,其畫作是她一生多重身份的抗爭寫照。奧萊莉把芙烈達這些身份割裂開來, 逐一評價,與當代觀眾擦出情感上的強烈聯繫。奧萊莉擅長以不同戲劇體裁編寫傷健人士的故事,今次更會親自來港主 持工作坊和專題講座,真的不容錯過! 日本著名編劇佃典彥在 2011年首次參觀我們的黑盒劇場,對這個創作空間一見鍾情,更誓言要寫一個新作品在這裡演 出。《朝顏》正是他為劇場節的「別注」創作,亮點更是他親自粉墨登場,與劇団B級遊擊隊的團員一同帶來這個作品。 佃典彥對生活觀察入微,喜歡探討親密關係中種種錯綜複雜的情感,表現手法總帶點魔幻色彩,諷刺現實生活,教人深 思!他亦會來港主持講座,分享他獨特的創作方法! 《白房間》是香港土方巽舞踏研究場的參節演出,特邀日本舞踏大師和栗由紀夫編寫文本和執導。舞踏演出配合文字創 作,絕對是一次新鮮的嘗試。和栗由紀夫對表演有深層次的研究,之前也來港舉行為期兩天的工作坊,以舞踏訓練加上 文本,讓參加者經歷了一次有關角色理解的旅程。 壓軸作是來自南韓Creative VaQi的《之前之後》,由南韓年輕導演李敬誠與他的團隊集體創作。此劇於去年11月演出後引 起極大迴響,也榮獲不少獎項。李敬誠是近年首爾備受關注的導演之一,也常被邀到國外交流合作。他與其團隊十分關 懷個人和社會的聯繫,作品多以社會議題出發,探討和批判生活中的扭曲現象,觸角敏銳!李敬誠是次將與其創作團隊 一起帶領工作坊,介紹他們獨特的集體創作方法。 走筆至此,我謹代表香港話劇團歡迎並感激參節的本地和海外藝術家,還有本團策劃和執行劇場節各項工作的團員。最 後,我感謝每一位蒞臨欣賞和支持這場人文盛宴的觀眾朋友!希望大家能在黑盒劇場中,享受一連串難忘的舞台體驗!

Message from Artistic Director, HKREP Wonderful scripts from around the globe A colourful feast of humanity The International Black Box Festival 2016 is officially launched! “The Colours of Humanity” is the theme of this year’s installment. Our mission is to offer Hong Kong audiences different approaches to the dramatic text in a wide range of stage presentations, to provide a breath of fresh air in Hong Kong Repertory Theatre Black Box! As a prelude to the Festival, the Toneelgroep Amsterdam brought La voix humaine, a revival of a classic to which our audience responded enthusiastically. The production, led by Belgian director Ivo van Hove, proves that a repertory work from eight decades ago remains as valid and as critical today. The following five productions hail from different regions in the world. They are all presented on our stage in October and November. For six weeks, our Black Box will display a series of unique “colours of humanity”. Performer Studio’s Descendants of the Eunuch Admiral is the Hong Kong entry for this Festival. Under the leadership of Tony Wong, it features a cast of the Hong Kong Academy for Performing Arts graduates. This work is a masterpiece by the forefather of Singapore theatre, Kuo Pao-kun. Wong extracted the most important parts of the script and adapted it anew, adding choreographed movements into the presentation, depicting the historical figure Zheng He and his travails in a minimal yet lively way that relates to our contemporary world. It is an imaginative work that has many a twist! Along with the dedication of a cast of young actors, there is much to look forward to in this production! Following closely is Taiwan’s Möbius Strip Theatre’s collaborative project with Welsh artists as well as Hong Kong Repertory Theatre. The 9 fridas is the work of playwright Kaite O’Reilly with a totally new approach to “text” as she chronicles the life of Mexican painter Frida Kahlo, whose vibrant costumes and iconic eyebrows distinguished her, and whose paintings represent the challenges of her many roles in life. O’Reilly elects to present Kahlo’s portrait in many fragments, connecting each facet with audiences today. Renowned for her depiction of human difference and disability, O’Reilly will also conduct a workshop and a lecture under the auspices of our Festival. These are opportunities not to be missed! In 2011, celebrated playwright Tsukuda Norihiko visited our Black Box and fell in love with it, vowing he would write a new work specifically for this venue. Asagao is specially written for us, and the playwright will also appear on stage along with his cast from the BKYUYUGEKITAI Theatre Company. Tsukuda is a keen observer of how people live and the complexities of intimate relationships. His dramatic treatments always include elements of magic as a way to deliver provocative commentaries on real life. During the Festival, he will also speak about his work at a talk session. White Room is presented by Hong Kong’s own White Room Research Collective; it is a work created and directed by Waguri Yukio, combining Butoh and text. Waguri is a performer who has based his art on painstaking research. Prior to this Festival, he travelled to Hong Kong to host a two-day workshop, training participants not only in Butoh but also in working with the text as they embark on their journeys in exploring characters. Our final production is Creative VaQi’s Before After, a work collectively created by South Korean director Kyung-sung Lee and his company of actors. After its premiere last November, Before After received numerous accolades. Lee is among the most sought after directors in Seoul in recent years; he has been invited abroad many times. To Lee and his team, the connection between the individual and society is key to their art. Their works are often inspired by social issues, as they investigate how contemporary life has become unhinged. Lee and his cast will lead a workshop outlining their collaborative process. On behalf of Hong Kong Repertory Theatre, I want to extend a warm welcome to local and overseas artists who participate in the International Black Box Festival 2016. I must also thank our colleagues involved in the planning and execution of the Festival’s many productions and events. Last but not least, I am grateful to everyone entering our theatre to share and support “the colours of humanity”! You will have unforgettable experiences in our Black Box!

The Möbius Strip Theatre (MST) was founded in 2005, corresponding to the idea of the circular, never-ending “strip”, MST consists of artists from various countries and cultures (including Taiwan, Hong Kong and Malaysia). Based in Taiwan, MST insists on providing a creative platform for the potential of integrating various fields that might at first seem to be essentially different from one another. Our task lies in:
TRADITION & PRESENT - finding wisdom / THOUGHT & LIVING - exemplifying art CULTURE & NATURE - connecting emotion / MIND & EDUCATION - spreading hope We realize our convictions in our creative work, fusing the pursuit of artistic traditions and multifarious developments of contemporary theatre. They demonstrate a new approach to combining drama, physical movement, spiritual reflections and use of multi-media in theatre. MST returns to the essence of theatre: a mixture of its sacredness, as well as its play. The works reflect upon life, while defining a new kind of lively relationship between space and performance, between performer and audience.

在現時亞洲劇場或非商業劇場的結構,演員、導演、創作群們每一次辛辛苦苦地排練製作,最後只有在首演時發表 這麼五場,我們常常會覺得很可惜。有機會把作品再次拿出來重演、甚至是巡演,總是讓人覺得興奮!因為劇場的 創造製作,是集合大家的力量,付出很多心力與資源完成,但是演完之後好像就這樣結束,沒有其他的渠道作資源 回收,我們總覺得這是一個很不環保的事情。 2014年和香港話劇團合作製作《九面芙烈達》,讓我們覺得這種劇團與劇團、劇場與劇場之間的聯盟或是資源整 合,透過networking的過程,在藝術家與藝術家之間、行政與行政之間,甚至是藝術總監與藝術總監之間發酵與交 流,我們覺得這是未來亞洲交流與合作中可以發展與努力的方向,很期待能在未來有更多這樣的合作發生。 這一次我們重新回顧這個2014年製作的作品,在排練的過程,我們也觀察到我們的演員與藝術創作群們,就好像 普洱茶葉一樣越沉越久越香,然後更深層的發酵。這樣隨著時間、經歷與互相學習而彼此精進,在藝術上是一個很 難得的機會和現象。這次感謝香港話劇團和我們有這樣的合作,帶這個作品到香港,希望未來也有更多且持續的合 作。 張藝生、梁菲倚 莫比斯圓環創作公社聯合藝術總監 In the context today either of Asia or of non-commercial theatre, the cast, director and creative team always feel a tinge of pity at the end of a world premiere. After all of our hard work in rehearsal, a production would close after only five performances. However, the opportunity of a revival or a tour is tinged with excitement and anticipation! The creation of a theatre work is the amalgam of energy and dedication of many people, with many resources dedicated to the presentation. After the final curtain, one always feels a sense of wastefulness, because nothing can be saved or recycled. The process, to us, always seems unfriendly to the environment. In 2014, our company collaborated with the Hong Kong Repertory Theatre in the 9 fridas, through which the collaboration between theatre companies or venues, the combination of resources, the process of networking, the connection among artists, directors, even artistic directors all constitute a new direction in Asia. We hope more of these opportunities will be possible. We are revisiting the initial 2014 production from a new perspective. During rehearsals, we notice our cast and participating artists deepening their understanding of the work, just like pu-er tea leaves releasing long-fermented flavours as they steep in water. This progress in time, in experience and in learning from each other is a valuable artistic phenomenon. We are grateful to the Hong Kong Repertory Theatre for collaborating with us and inviting us here. It is our hope that we will sustain our collaboration in developing more co-productions. 《九面芙烈達》是一幅馬賽克圖像,以連串的印象與故事拼貼墨西哥藝術家芙烈達.卡蘿(1907-1954)的一生,以及劇 中人物「F」通過馬雅九層地獄的虛構旅程。幾個詠頌隊中的人物在旅程中伴隨著「F」,他們和「F」一樣,都是芙烈達. 卡蘿,卻也都不是她本人,不過他們的故事和芙烈達生平中的真實事件相互呼應:被背叛的妻子、社運分子、因車禍嚴重 傷殘的青少年、時尚名人、奮力掙扎的藝術家……
The 9 fridas is a mosaic, a collage of impressions and stories reflecting the life of Mexican artist Frida Kahlo (1907-1954) and the fictional journey of ‘F’ through the 9 Hells of the Mayan Underworld. ‘F’ is accompanied by a chorus of figures who, like her, are and are not Frida Kahlo, but whose stories echo actual events from Frida’s life: the betrayed wife, the political activist, the teenager severely disabled in a road accident, the fashion icon, the struggling artist…

陳佾均 Betty Chen 臺北人、德國波鴻魯爾大學劇場研究碩士。從事劇場研究、劇本翻譯與中英 德口筆譯工作,以戲劇顧問身分參與臺北藝術節臺德共製作品,包括台南人 劇團《金龍》、身聲劇場《目連拯救母親大地》、楊景翔演劇團《雨季》, 並與莫比斯圓環創作公社、阮劇團、演摩莎劇團及香港前進進戲劇工作坊等 國內外團隊合作。譯有《戲劇顧問:連結理論與創作的實作手冊》、《當代 德國劇作選》I&II、《阿拉伯之夜》等十餘齣劇作,以及國家兩廳院多齣巡 演作品字幕,包括:柏林人民劇團《賭徒》、澳洲塊動舞團《歸屬習題》 等,文章散見於《PAR表演藝術》(臺灣)及網上平台如國際演藝評論家協 會(香港分會)。 Chen lives and works in Taipei. She completed her Master in Theatre Studies at Ruhr-University Bochum, Germany. She works as a dramaturg and translator (from English and German into Chinese). As a freelance dramaturg, she has facilitated several international co-productions for the Taipei Arts Festival, including Der Goldene Drache by Roland Schimmelpfennig, Mulian Rescues Mother Earth by Kevin Rittberger and Monsun by Anja Hilling, as well as collaborations with groups such as Möbius Strip Theatre, Our Theatre, Performosa Theatre and On & On Theatre Workshop. She has just translated Dramaturgy in the Making from Katalin Trencsényi into Chinese and has published two translated volumes of contemporary German drama. Her texts on theatre or reviews are seen in Performing Arts Reviews (TW) and online platforms such as IATC (HK) .

In 2016 he directed the world premiere of Kaite O’Reilly’s Cosy at the Wales Millennium Centre (Cardiff) — an Unlimited commission. In 2015, he directed Ota Shogo’s The Water Station with an international cast for Nordland Teater (Norway). Recent productions by The Llanarth Group include: Told by the Wind on tour again in the UK in early October, 2016 (previewed in 2009 and premiered in 2010 in Wales and on tour to Berlin, Chicago and Tokyo); Playing ‘the Maids’ (A collaboration with Gaitkrash [Ireland], Theatre P’Yut (Korea) and Jing Hong Okorn-Kuo [Singapore]) premiered in Chapter Arts Centre, Cardiff in 2015 with additional performances on tour; The Echo Chamber (2012); and The Beckett Project — on special invitation to the Malta Arts Festival, 2012. As a teacher/author, Zarrilli is internationally known for developing a unique approach to training contemporary actors/performers using Taiqiquan, kalarippayattu (Indian martial art), and yoga. His awardwinning book about this process, Psychophysical Acting: An Intercultural Approach after Stanislavski, was translated into Chinese and released at the 2014 Taipei Arts Festival. In 2017, Zarrilli will direct several plays by Samuel Beckett in association with the National Theatre of Costa Rica.

A graduate of the Hong Kong Academy for Performing Arts with a Bachelor of Fine Arts Degree (First Class Honours), she was a full-time actress of Hong Kong Repertory Theatre and was nominated for Best Actress (Tragedy / Drama) at the Hong Kong Drama Awards for her performance in De Ling & Empress Dowager Cixi. She won the Hong Kong Drama Awards for Best Supporting Actress (Tragedy / Drama) for her performance in Before the Rain Stops. Leong is also a former member of Taiwan’s U Theatre. In 2005, Leong founded the Möbius Strip Theatre with friends, serving as the company’s Co-Artistic Director. She also curated Creative Lab to encourage new works and promote exchange between Taiwan and Hong Kong. Among the works she’s performed with the Möbius Strip Theatre are Diving in the Moment, The Archetype of Ant Hole, Poetry of Insomnia and Special Delivery: Politely Intractable.

馮 蔚 衡 Fung Wai Hang
1988年加入香港話劇團,現為助理藝術總監。英國艾賽特大學舞台實踐藝術碩士及香 港演藝學院戲劇學院首屆畢業生。曾參與導及演的劇目超過九十齣,並五度獲香港舞 台劇獎表演獎及兩屆導演獎。工作包括導演、統籌及策劃香港話劇團黑盒劇場的節目 等。近年銳意把香港話劇團黑盒劇場打造成孕育本土創作的平台,積極促進不同地域 的交流、跨媒界合作、介紹非傳統作品等項目,期望為香港的劇場工作者發展一個開 放的空間。 Fung joined the Hong Kong Repertory Theatre in 1988, currently serving as Assistant Artistic Director of the company. She obtained an MFA in Theatre Practice at the University of Exeter and was a graduate of the inaugural class of the School of Drama of the Hong Kong Academy for Performing Arts. To date, her professional career spans more than 90 productions as actress and director. She has won the Hong Kong Drama Awards five times for her acting and twice for her directing. Fung’s extensive work in the theatre includes roles such as director and curator of the HKRep's Black Box. In recent years, she has devoted much energy in fostering exchange between Hong Kong and other cities, as well as nurturing new works by local talents, including multi-media collaborations and unconventional productions, with the goal of providing an innovative, open space for Hong Kong’s theatre practitioners. 12

從事表演藝術工作逾十年,創作風格融合西方寫實及東方寫意。除了正規劇場演出 外,更積極拓展與環境對話的可能性,曾於三級古蹟蘆洲李宅、日本千葉史蹟公園博 物館、橫濱縣民展演廳、士林紙廠、北投農場等場域創作專屬演出。他修習禪坐、太 極和瑜伽多年,同時也是臼井靈氣治療師及西藏頌缽療癒師,以藝術創作來尋找感性 與理性的統合及自我療癒的力量。 A performing arts veteran for more than a decade, Chen has created works melding Western realism with the spirit of the East. Apart from performing in conventional theatres, he also explores environmental interaction, creating site-specific works at the Luchou Lee Mansion (Taiwan’s Grade 3 historic building), Tobinodai Historic Site Park Museum (Funabashi City, Chiba Prefecture, Japan), Kanagawa Kenmin Hall (Yokohama, Japan), Shihlin Paper Factory and Beitou Farm. For many years, Chen has been practicing meditation, taichi and yoga. He is also a Reiki Healing therapist and Tibetan Singing Bowl therapist, utilizing the creative arts to fuse together intellect and emotions, enhancing the power of self-healing.

馬 英 妮 Ma Ying-ni
在臺期間攻讀建築學與都市計劃,2000-07年擔任台南人劇團演員與戲劇講師,參演 《終局》、《利西翠妲》、《女巫奏鳴曲 — 馬克白詩篇》與K24等作品。07年赴英 國艾賽特大學修讀舞台實踐藝術碩士,並跟隨菲利浦.薩里利教授展開演員聲音訓練 之研究,譯作有薩里利《身心合一:後史坦尼斯拉夫斯基的跨文化演技》一書,目前 任教於國立臺灣師範大學。 While in Taiwan, Ma studied architecture and urban planning. From 2000 to 2007, she was an actress and lecturer at the Tainaner Ensemble, having participated in such productions as Endgame, Lysistrata, Sonata of the Witches: The Macbeth Verses and K24. In 2007, Ma left Taiwan for the University of Exeter, pursuing a Master’s Degree in Theatre Practice, training with Phillip Zarrilli on vocal technique. She translated Zarrilli’s Psychophysical Acting: An Intercultural Approach after Stanislavski into Chinese and currently teaches at the National Taiwan Normal University.

陳慧勻 Pun Chen
臺南人、中年文青,曾獲府城文學獎文學論述佳作、鳳凰樹文學獎舞台劇本佳作、小 說二獎等。母親為雞屎藤新民族舞團藝術總監,自幼看母親作品長大,自2002年起開 始參與舞團的創作與企劃工作。07年到英國艾賽特大學攻讀戲劇博士學位,跟隨跨文 化劇場學者與導演菲利蒲‧薩里利與Rebecca Loukes。目前除於淡江大學通識與核心 課程中心擔任助理教授,亦為雞屎藤新民族舞團行政總監與駐團導演。 A native from Tainan and an intellectual in her middle age, Chen has received accolades for her literary criticism, plays and novels from the Tainan City Government and the Phoenix Literary Awards. Since her mother is the Artistic Director of Taiwan New Style Folk Dance, Chen was introduced to the theatre from an early age. Starting in 2002, she participated in creating and planning of the troupe’s performances. In 2007, she travelled to England to pursue her doctoral degree in theatre at the University of Exeter, studying with cross-cultural scholar and director Phillip Zarrilli and Rebecca Loukes. Currently, Chen is an assistant professor at the Tamkang University’s Center for General Education and Core Curriculum as well as Executive Director and Resident Director of Taiwan New Style Folk Dance.

馮國基 Fung Kwok Kee Gabriel
畢業於香港演藝學院,繼而從事舞台工作至今。作品領域包括:舞蹈、戲劇、歌劇、戲曲等。除擔任燈光設計,亦 從事導演、演員及擊樂樂手。曾與優人神鼓參加法國亞維儂藝術節,並多次替香港藝術節、澳門藝術節及海外機構 擔任設計工作,亦曾應前香港教育學院藝術系邀請舉辦以光為主題媒介的視覺裝置《藍與黑》。作品於2003年獲 得香港舞蹈聯盟舞蹈年獎及香港舞台劇獎最佳燈光設計。09年修畢香港浸會大學傳理系電影藝術碩士課程,主修導 演,於校內獲得優異學術成績獎學金。 Graduated from the Hong Kong Academy for Performing Arts, Fung has been active on the theatre scene since graduation, working in such genres as dance, drama, Western and traditional opera. Apart from lighting design, Fung has directed and performed as actor and percussionist. He worked with Taiwan’s U Theatre on their tour to France’s Festival d’Avignon. He has designed many productions at the Hong Kong Arts Festival and Macau Arts Festival as well as for organizations abroad. He also created the installation Blue and Black for the Creative Arts Department of the Institute of Education of Hong Kong. Fung has won Best Lighting Design at the Hong Kong Dance Awards as well as the Hong Kong Drama Awards. In 2009, he graduated with an MFA Degree in film directing from Hong Kong Baptist University, where he was a scholarship recipient.

林伯勛 Phillip Lin
臺灣科技大學工商業設計系畢業。目前從事樂團音樂短片、紀錄片、網路廣告拍攝製作。 2011-12及14-15期間於國立臺灣科技大學工商業設計系擔任動畫組畢業製作講師。 參與劇場影像設計工作包括:14年國家兩廳院1+1雙舞作《看得見的城市,看不見的人》;13年《落葉.傾城.張 愛玲》、《活小孩》;12年《守夜者》、《瑪莉瑪蓮‧強尼強納森》; 11-13 年為臺北爵士音樂節、音樂營拍攝 紀錄片及曾製作Cicada《邊境消逝》紀錄片。 A graduate of the National Taiwan University of Science and Technology’s Department of Industrial and Commercial Design, Lin is now a video producer for music ensembles, documentaries and online commercials. He also served in 2011–2012 and 2014–2015 academic years as lecturer in final animation production at his alma mater. Among his video designs used in theatre are Visible and Invisible (presented by National Theater’s 1+1 Dance) (2014), Fall for Eileen Chang and Alive and Kicking - A Real Children’s Play (2013), The Lives of P and Mary Marlin Jony Jonathan (2012), the Taipei Jazz Festival (2011–2013), Music camp documentary and Cicada’s Coastland documentary (2013). 18

《九面芙烈達》是一齣十分獨特的作品,在當代戲劇世界也是別樹一幟。本文嘗試分別從導演菲利浦.薩里利 (Phillip Zarrilli)的表演體系及凱特.奧萊利(Kaite O'Reilly)的文本兩種角度,理解這一齣作品的藝術特色。 純粹從最表面的戲劇特色來說,薩里利的戲是異乎尋常的「慢」。如果你對戲劇的理解只限於荷里活快速淺白的敘 事,或無綫劇集的家庭糾紛,我會建議你暫時拋低這兩種框架,以另一種眼光去看戲。因為平常的看戲習慣,或者 會令你錯失他作品的精粹。他的演員或緩慢移動、提腿揚手,或不發一言專注某一動作、靜止的狀態,都是有千言 萬語在背後。你以為沒事發生的時刻,背後其實是他們千錘百鍊之後傳給你的訊息、感覺及能量。可以說,薩里利 是最珍惜舞台上的每一分秒,所以劇中所有靜與動都是經過精心打磨的。 我們不妨從薩里利的表演體系,理解其表演理念。他曾引用「全身盡化成眼」(Meyyu Kannakuka),來形容演員 或卡拉里帕亞特(Kalarippayattu,一種印度武術)修習者在造詣成熟時的狀態。「當一個人的身體達到盡化成眼的 境界,這千眼之人便如同婆羅門神一般,彷彿化身成一隻動物,可以在當下的環境隨時看見、聽見、對任何刺激做 出即時的反應。」薩里利的表演系統稱為「身心合一」(Psychophysical Acting),是在「後史坦尼斯拉夫斯基的表 演方法」上發揚光大。史氏體系比較為人熟悉的是,他強調建立角色、文本分析及寫實的表演技藝。可是,他其實 也重視「身心並進」的理念。可以說,如何處理身、心(mind and body)的異同,不但是劇場人會關心的事情,而 且也是西方哲學亘古至今的永恆命題。身心是二元對立,抑或相輔相成、「你中有我,我中有你」?薩里利取經東 方,糅合瑜伽、卡拉里帕亞特和太極拳這些傳統訓練,轉化成一套「先於表演」(Pre-Performative)的訓練系統, 當中「應用了各種活潑生動的意象,具活化作用的詞句和其他能夠打開感官覺察,提升專注力或引導演員注意力的 方法。」明乎此,他作品裡頭的「慢」,都是力量澎湃的每一個瞬間。其實,專注當下每一刻本來是東方文化基礎 的一部分,我們應該不難理解的。 《九面芙烈達》的文本敘事方式及語言質感同樣出眾。同樣地,我們不能單以慣看的寫實主義角度切入,因為你會 發現,它不是發生在一個客廳或某一個我們熟悉的生活場景。正如編劇奧萊利在文本開首的「劇作家說明」中寫 道: 這個表演文本是幅馬賽克圖像,由多種Frida Kahlo的再現方式,以及幾個非Frida的角色(1-4)所說的獨白構成;這 些獨白訴說和Frida的生平平行對照的當代故事,同時,她自己,也就是F,經歷一趟記憶與馬雅死後世界的旅程。

若以劇場編劇思潮來說,《九面芙烈達》屬於崛起於九十年代中的歐洲新文本。又或者以雷曼( Hans-Thies Lehmann)的理論來說,她是後戲劇文本(Postdramatic Text)。這種文本以書寫方式、回應社會、去空間、去角 色等為寫作特色。正如引用的前文,此劇是以集體敘事(Collective Narrative)為主,亦有不少獨白,所以觀眾欣 賞時,不妨以超越角色的方法,理解奧萊利筆下的芙烈達。此外,奧萊利的風格,在當代英語劇場也可以說非常獨 特。她文本的感性與詩意、一以貫之地關心受壓抑的女性命運,都是極為罕有的。有統計顯示,英國編劇的男女比 例為7:3,是相當嚴重的失衡現象。正因如此,她的聲音才更難能可貴。 2014年9月初,我在臺北看過《九面芙烈達》的串排( run-through)。雖然未入台(即是未有佈景、服裝、燈光 等),但我依然為演員的氣場所懾,也為奧萊利的文本所感動。我至今仍然記得那一個美好的下午,這也是我對薩 里利和奧萊利產生興趣的起點。其中最深刻印象的,是芙烈達經歷了人生各種各樣的傷痛後說,她永遠不要再輪迴 到人世。身心合一,如何在劇場訴說芙烈達沒能褪去的痛?也許可以是觀賞的其中一條路線。

Company Background • The Hong Kong Repertory Theatre is the longest standing and largest professional theatre company in the city, established in 1977 and incorporated in 2001. Financially supported by the Government of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region, the Hong Kong Repertory operates under the guidance of its Governing Council, and employs a team of over 70 full-time professionals including the artistic director, assistant artistic director, actors, technical and stage management staff as well as administrators. • Since its establishment 39 years ago, it has presented more than 300 productions, many of which have become classics of the local theatre canon.
