Computing & IT Level 2

You will be trained in the latest technologies and skills, covering websites, multimedia film & game, hardware, and networking.

This course is highly regarded within the sector and gives you the opportunity to gain experience in a range of IT functions in our well-equipped, specialist IT teaching rooms. We host our own independent network for you to install, test and maintain computer systems, as well as a hardware lab where you can explore networking, hardware and software installation and maintenance. You will develop the latest skills in website development, multimedia (film and game), networking, technical support for computer systems, as well as business skills.

Learning current and emerging technologies prepares you for employment in a range of contemporary industries and progress onto the Level 3 Extended Diploma. In the past year, students have gained work experience at a range of companies, from small independent employers, such as Corn Cutter Games, to large government armed forces organisations.

Assessment is continuous with timed tests, written assignments, and observations of practical work. All written work is submitted electronically through Turnitin. All full-time students will be required to study maths and English at the appropriate level. Please see page 6 for more details. Entry Requirements • Four GCSE passes at grade 3 (grade D) or above (including maths and English) • Successful interview and initial assessment, including diagnostic tests • You will need to demonstrate an enthusiasm for this subject area
