“I have always loved animals from an early age, especially marine life which I took an early interest in when visiting rockpools on holiday. When I left school, I wanted to come to the Holme Lacy Campus to study Animal Management. I considered taking A Levels to study Biology, however it was too broad for my liking. Animal Management has instead allowed me to concentrate solely on the animals. As I finish this course, I’m looking forward to studying Zoology at Aberystwyth University. I have even secured a £1000 bursary from the University for my success in exams. My plans for the future are to complete a masters in Zoology, as I plan to work in marine conservation, in particular to work with whales.
The College has been very welcoming to me, especially given that I suffer with ME. The campus is nice and compact, and the tutors are all really nice and supportive too. On the course we have a great mixture of academic learning and practical sessions, getting to work with a wide variety of animals, including the exotics and also the animals down on the farm. I would really recommend this course for anyone who loves animals, or wishes to go into animal management as a career, and the College itself is a great environment to learn in.”
