INFORMATION FOR SCHOOL STAFF & CAREERS ADVISORS

We pride ourselves on maintaining a strong positive relationship with our fellow professionals in schools and in careers services around the area. We recognise the diverse options available to young people. For some, Herefordshire and Ludlow College may be the right answer, for others a different route may be better. Our overriding concern is to make sure that young people make a well-informed decision about their post-GCSE progression.

We also know that every year some school pupils stay on into a sixth-form and then find after a year that they need to change direction. Easing the transition of those Year 12 students is just as important to us as helping Year 11’s who decide going on to College is what best meets their needs.

Similarly, our work with 14-16 year olds is a vital part of ensuring all young people can benefit from the widest range of options to help their development. We have set out (see below) some of the ways in which we can work with schools and careers advisors to ensure their pupils arrive at an informed decision.

Before young people join us full time: • We are happy to visit school assemblies for your careers events • We offer Open Events at the College • We can provide subject-specific talks and demonstrations • We can arrange one-to-one contact with staff and current students • Our team leaders and tutors are very happy to speak with teaching staff/careers advisors regarding the progression routes we offer • We will speak to you about any young people whom you believe may require extra support during the transition period.
