Horse Management Level 3 A specialist work-related programme of study, equivalent to three A Levels, that covers key knowledge and practical skills required for a successful career in this amazing industry. This course will teach you how to care for horses up to competition level and give you the opportunity to work at our commercial riding school. The course gives a broad-based and in-depth study of the industry and its various disciplines. We aim to provide the best possible vocational experience for you as well as developing your learning and understanding of equine academia. All full-time students participate in yard duties throughout the year alongside their main programme of study. A rota is put in place and will include some weekends. You will also have the opportunity to organise and run an equine event, as well as to visit Your Horse Live, Badminton Horse Trials and the Horse of the Year Show. Students also attend residential study tours, which include visits to The National Stud, British Racing School, Rossdales Equine Veterinary Hospital, Tattersalls and a study tour to Cirencester. We also offer the following apprenticeships as an alternative to full-time study: • Horse Care, Level 2 • Horse Care and Management, Level 3 Course Content As an employed apprentice you will gain practical skills along with knowledge and understanding relevant to your chosen course, including: • Cleaning and Maintaining Stables • Providing Feed & Water to Horses • Providing Treatment to Horses • Grooming & Maintaining Horses • Handling Horses • Riding Horses • Lunge & Long Rein Horses Duration and Attendance You will spend most of your time in the workplace employed as an apprentice. There will be knowledge workshops planned within your course. You will be expected to attend functional skills classes unless you already have prior achievement. Duration is 12-24 months depending on the level of study.
