Sport Level 2
Develop your sport and fitness skills, including coaching, testing and specialist pathways.
Making use of your free membership of the Point4 (gym, spa and leisure facilities), you will extend your skills in a diverse range of team and individual sporting activities giving you an overall grounding in sport and fitness. You can also gain a range of further qualifications, such as sports coaching and first aid, as well as English and maths.

Your theoretical study will cover a wide variety of subjects, enhancing your understanding of your physical performance and preparing you for further study. This will include areas such as fitness testing and development, anatomy and physiology, effects of exercise on the body, planning and leading sport activities and injury in sport. You can choose to take part in a Football Training Pathway, Netball Training Pathway or follow a Fitness Pathway. Work placements are offered in a variety of settings, including primary and secondary schools and leisure centres.

Assessment is continuous with assignments, projects and practical work. All full-time students are required to study English and maths at the appropriate level. Please see page 6 for more details. Entry Requirements • Four GCSEs at grade 2 (grade E) or above (to include maths and English) or successful completion of a suitable and relevant Level 1 Qualification • Successful interview and initial assessment in literacy and numeracy • Applicants will be expected to demonstrate enthusiasm and commitment to the chosen subject area
Progression Progression routes shown below are dependent on successful completion of qualifications and meeting entry criteria.
On completion of the course, students have the option to move straight into employment: • Leisure Centre Attendant • Assistant Fitness Instructor • Assistant Coach
Progression study options include: • Level 3 Extended Diploma in Sport • Level 3 Extended Diploma in Sport – Fitness Services • Level 3 Extended Diploma in Public Services
