Massage Therapies Level 3

You will learn professional and holistic massage techniques including Indian head, body and stone massage.

The purpose of this qualification is to develop your skills to a high level of occupational ability and to enable you to perform your own salon services. Practical training is undertaken in a professional working environment in our superb commercial training salons and clinic, Eden.

You will develop a sound knowledge of how to monitor and maintain health and safety practices in a salon environment; promote client care and effective communications. You will also learn how to maintain personal health and well-being, as well as exploring the origins of massage and the principles of complementary and alternative medicine.

There is an option to study additional certificates in Bamboo Massage, though these are at an additional cost and are not part of the formal Level 3 qualification structure.

Qualification VTCT Level 3 Diploma in Massage Therapy

Duration One year

Course Content You will cover a diverse range of topics throughout your course. A selection of unit titles is shown below. • Health and Safety • Client Care and Consultation • History of Massage Therapies • Anatomy and Physiology • Provide Body Massage • Provide Indian Head Massage • Provide Stone Therapy Treatments

You will be assessed on a continuous basis within a realistic working environment. You will produce a portfolio of evidence as well as written assignments. There are also assessed test papers and documented evidence of case studies. All full-time students are required to study maths and English at the appropriate level. Entry Requirements • Five GCSEs at grade 4 (grade C) or above (to include maths, a science and English) or successful completion of a suitable and relevant Level 2 qualification at Merit grade or above • Successful interview and initial assessment in literacy and numeracy • Applicants will be expected to demonstrate enthusiasm and commitment to the chosen subject area

Progression Study options may include: • Level 3 or 4 Beauty Therapy • Management courses • Level 3 Certificate in Sports Massage (part-time)

Aged 16-18 years There are no tuition or examination fees | Materials Fee £160 and you will also be expected to buy your own equipment totalling approximately £270
