Sport Level 3
Gain the equivalent to three A Levels and enhance your practical sporting skills with coaching & teaching as well as the study of elite performance, training & rehabilitation.
You will participate in a diverse range of sporting activities as well as opportunities in coaching experiences, visits to national sporting venues and national governing body qualifications in various sports, including first aid. Unique to sport at the College, this course offers a free membership to the Point4 which has a gym, spa and leisure facilities.

You can choose to take part in one of the following academy pathways – football, netball or fitness, as well as experiencing other practical sporting units. The Fitness Pathway will involve taking part in diverse range of fitness classes as well as cross-college sports activities, whilst members of the Football Academy and Netball Academy will play in the National Colleges League. You will have the chance to enhance your specific skills through analysis and training, in addition to studying games from the coaching perspective. Work placements include primary and secondary schools and also leisure centres.

Course Content A selection of unit titles is show below. • Anatomy & Physiology • Fitness Training, Programming & Testing • Sports Injuries and Rehabilitation • Instructing Physical Activity & Exercise • Sports Coaching • Physical Education & the National Curriculum
Assessment includes written tasks, group and individual presentations, reports, video analysis and practical skill observations. All full-time students are required to study maths and English at the appropriate level. Please see page 6 for more details. Entry Requirements • Five GCSEs at grade 4 (grade C) or above (to include maths and English) or successful completion of a suitable and relevant Level 2 qualification to Merit grade • Successful interview and initial assessment in literacy and numeracy • Applicants will be expected to demonstrate enthusiasm and commitment to the chosen subject area
